After all the Canada Day hoopla, this feels like a Monday! Good thing I wrote a check last night for this morning's bread pick-up.
Got lots of "stuff" done yesterday and was too darned pooped by evening to even think of going to see fireworks. They may have been cancelled because of the t-storms which means it'll happen tonight.
Sharon came and we went through accounting procedures. She is a really smart lady and nice to work with. She also fixed my access to FB by just switching me to IE instead of Chrome! Who knew? Cousins (2) plus baby (1) dropped in from the Island which actually was good because two hours is long enough for any meeting. Nate is 17 months and fascinated by my dogs who are perfect angels with little kids.
After everyone left I lugged the rest of the schoolwork over to the Town Hall and sorted it all out ready for judging. Seems to me there's not as much stuff as other years - 1300 pieces or so. I will try to do a bit of a presort to eliminate some entries but all will be mounted for display. The kids love to see their work in the Fair Hall, ribbon or not!
Time for another coffee and then I'll crank up the day by going to pick up the bread. It's a grinding day too, a long run since we are nearly out of flour.
What.s on tap for your first really summer long weekend?
Nothing really exciting here, ever lol. Work today followed by two quick days off then back to the grind. At least today I have some de-stress time before work. Might pull some weeds before going in as the humidity finally broke. Last night I was in bed before 8:30 and up at 5:30. Trying to stay focused.
Beth and Pearlrose no I had to be at work early, rush hour early, most of the week. Driving to NYC is torture enough but during rush hour is insane. Not to mention everyone trying to escape for a long weekend when I am trying to leave. Train is more civilized lol.
Pearlrose I loved your vacation photos on FB. So nice to see your family I get confused is Disneyland in Florida and Disneyworld in CA? I've been to the one in FL 3 times and always enjoyed it, especially when I was 7
Good morning, chicks.
Yesterday was quite productive; after I hung out the laundry I spent a few hours weeding I'm really happy with my efforts as well as the fact the rain held off until mid-afternoon when I was out of energy anyway. June and early July are the best time for my gardens when everything is blooming so nicely.
Not much on my agenda today other than a haircut this afternoon. I'm sure I'll fill it up somehow, maybe a new book.
Jennifer, hope work is smooth today.
Ruth, how awesome to have the Treasurer job off your shoulders! Enjoy your day.
I'm out to the yard. I've been up for awhile putting things away after yesterday's carpet cleaning. I'm not moving furniture back yet. It's cool and humid and I don't think everything is 100% dry. I'm thinking of a nice dinner....maybe veggie burger. Back to work tomorrow. Oh, well.
Just got done with a good round of yoga to get the body going and made breakfast. DD2 wants to go birthday party shopping today. There is a parade (which we told DH that we don't wish to go to) and there is Fair St. Louis, I am thinking we will go tomorrow to the fair, we went to the drive in last night.
It is supposed to rain today as well 2 to 3 inches of rain is what they are saying
Ruth I am sure the kids enjoy seeing their artwork hanging regardless of if they win or not.
Jekel Disneyland is CA and Disney World is FL. That makes sense for taking the train to avoid rush hour, Los Angeles did not seem to have a rush hour it was rush hour every hour lol.
Beth a relaxing day sounds good to me...enjoy
Debbie glad the carpet cleaning was accomplished, enjoy your yard work
Good Morning. I woke at 5 to the sound of two dogs barking in MY yard. I lay there for a while thinking evil thoughts about my neighbours and then realized it was my Two! I guess I was uber-tired last night and forgot to close the door onto the deck and yard. It was a noisy night anyhow since our American visitors to the park were doing the fireworks show on he Lake.
Yesterday was an exhausting day with visitors at the Mill from 9:30 until 5 when we closed - almost 200 people for tours and to buy bread and flour. Good thing it wasn't really humid! Today should be quieter. I'm going to hang out here at home as much as possible and do some catching up on laundry, payday paperwork and even some cooking. I will go to the Mill to give out the paycheques - for the last time as the new treasurer takes over this week when we get the bank signatures organized. The dogs won't know what hit them when The Dog Mum is home most of the day!
Enjoy your Glorious Fourth Weekend, my American cousins!
Paid some bills, doing laundry then heading to work. These next 3 days will test my physical/mental ability to the max. It's raining here so plants are getting watered. I got a new Maca powder to test out for energy supplement during work. I will see how it works. One thing there isn't time for at work is eating and the alternative is endless snacking which I try to stay away from.
Good morning, chicks!
Lovely morning here with a pleasant breeze and blue skies! Soon, after more coffee and some sort of substance, I will get DH to take a walk with me and we will also head out to the big produce stand on the edge of town to restock for the week. After that, who knows? Yesterday stayed in the low 60's so I worked out inside, got my hair cut and read a book. I also made a great dish for supper: marinara with some LF sausage, grilled chicken, mushrooms, onions and peppers over black bean spaghetti.
Debbie, have a good day at work and may your pockets be full!
It is another rainy day today, I don't think they will get fireworks in today. I did a 2 mile walk inside and just finished making breakfast. Not sure if we will do anything with the weather today. I do need to run the vacuum to pick up pet hair and maybe do some more laundry.
