Up way too early this morning, fretting about all the stuff I did NOT get done yesterday! It was a day almost entirely made up of interruptions, some good and some not so good. The good one was that Gardener On The Go did my front flower beds; the not so good was that a cheque donation to The Mill was NSF!
Today has to be better even if showers are predicted. I am going to town for a haircut and to do some of the grocery shopping I didn't do at Costco this week. I'm hoping I have enough energy left to go to Book Club at Joanne's at 7:30 tonight!
Really looking forward to the weekend although I do have one interview tomorrow morning before I put the dogs in the kennel and take off for an overnight near Ottawa with the Hyper Pypers. (It's a Bride and Groom Shower and I think the gift is going to be a gift card!)
Good grief! It's 55ºF today and snow is forecast for next week! This is nuts!
Did you just say the "s" word?! OMG. I haven't looked to see if we'll have a cool down as well. It's unseasonably warm this AM, but a nice nip to the air...just looked, it's 55 with a high of 68 and rain.
Today I need to get my cats some food (oh dear, the rebellion there would be without their food!) and run to the grocery store. DS lives off cereal, which hurts my little heart, but he's so skinny I'll just deal with it. I need to plan the weekend menu - I suppose it would be smart to do that *before* I go to the grocery store? Maybe some black bean salad, even the kids enjoy that.
Ruth I thought everyone was done with snow. Hope the sunshine and warmth we have here reaches you soon.
Tammy planning ahead is so helpful black bean salad sounds yummy. I have to start doing that. Especially with the thought of starting a new job.
SoI have to admit I found something out yesterday by looking at sample meal plans for phase 2. It looks like I am not eating enough. My breakfast is usually 1 egg with some cheese and a cup of coffee. Followed by lunch which is a small bowl of salad with some cheese crumbles and some sort of protein like 1 piece of deli turkey or a leftover chicken cutlet. Dinner is usually meat and veggies with some salad. I will have a fudge pop or a few pepperoni sticks or cheese stick as a snack. I am hoping while I am down and out food wise next week I can figure out how to do better. My interview is at 10:30 today then I am heading to my storage unit to try to make some sense of it. Tonight we will be off to Passover. Happy Passover to those who celebrate.
Quick fly by for me, I am heading into the office today, have a training class all afternoon. Yesterday was a good day, we went out to dinner last night to celebrate my birthday. DD2 had decorate the house with a banner, some streamers and ballons and made me a sugar free cake She is so sweet. I had one piece last night but that is it will not have another one.
Happy Belated Birthday Pearlrose!!! What a sweet gesture by DD. Nice to have such a thoughtful child.
Nicole I went through a phase where I was working off a regain that would not go away. I wasn't consuming nearly enough. Sometimes we need to reevaluate and tweak things a little to see results. Good luck with the interview! Yesterday you said you miss carbs. Is there something specific you miss? I know I missed crunchy chips. Even healthier bean or quinoa chips I still have control issues. I don't buy them often, but I don't say I can't ever have them again either.
Ruth have fun at the bridal shower. Will the bank try and deposit the check again? Having a gardener on the go would be awesome!!!
Tammy my DS was and still is under weight for his height. When he played football he was 115 with the pads on. At 6' 4" he only weighs 156!!! My kind has definition and muscle but not an ounce of fat. Annoys me some since he does no exercise and eats poorly lol. My son eats a box of cereal in two sittings. I can definitely relate. As long as he is healthy try not to worry I know it's hard though.
Another sunny morning which tempts me to take the day off. Unfortunately my boss is off so I do need to be there. I need to plan my meals for next week. I have a few things in the freezer still. I think I may make a bean salad too. I must confess I enjoy "regular" salads but hate all the prep lol
Good morning, chicks. We are having showers off and on today but it is better than s*&%#. (Ruth, I checked and our forecast has the possibility of that stuff overnight Monday, but back to 50* on Tuesday). I have continued to pick away at yard chores and may actually follow through and order my seeds this weekend. I did buy some coupons for seedling plants at a local greenhouse; a group at school was selling them for a fundraiser and that's something I can actually use!
Tammy, hope the grocery run is successful and doesn't set you back too much dollarwise. I am always amazed at how few bags I get for my money. Makes me sound like an old lady if I'm complaining about the price of groceries.
Nichole, others can correct me if I'm wrong, but the general plan is Protein + 1/2 cup veggies for breakfast, Protein + 2 cups veggies for lunch and dinner, plus snacks. Add the dairy, nuts and fats within the guidelines. I think the suggestion is to start with 3 oz of protein and add more if needed and we all agree to add beans (legumes). Many of us track calories at times, either to make sure we are eating enough or if we are stalling and not losing. For example, the lunch you posted above looks small to me. Feel free to post some menus anytime you want feedback. Also, from yesterday's question, in phase 2 I often would maintain for a week and then get a 1-2 pound loss.
Pearlrose and Jennifer, hope you both have a smooth day at work.
Hi Chicks! Sorry I was MIA this week. My job has been overly stressful and when I’m not working all I want to do is either sleep or veg out. I have been making myself get my steps in all this week but other than that and the basics of living this week has been a complete write off! I’m hoping that we can hire some more people so my work load will let up a bit. I’m tired of the extra work and the extra hours (I don’t get paid for extra time worked). I’m looking forward to the weekend though - tonight we are going to a local dance place to watch DS dance in a Country Swing competition. Then tomorrow my best friends daughters have soccer games we are going to attend and then they are having a BBQ for the older daughter’s 16th birthday. Then on Sunday we are having DS over for steak on the grill. We are supposed to have great weather for the weekend (sunny and 70’s) but we also have snow forecast for next week. Not too unusual for here in late April/early May but it doesn’t mean I have to like it!
Ruth - Sounds like you have a busy day lined up for today! Sending you good wishes for a better day than yesterday!!
Tammy - Yep…my little dog would definitely throw a rebellion without his food! He gets all bent out of shape if he doesn’t get his dinner and his treats on schedule!
Nicole - I have to admit that is one problem I have with SBD - I’m never sure if I’m eating enough or too much. My hunger signals are all messed up (always have been) so I’ve started counting calories just to keep myself in check. My usual problem is eating too much so the calorie counting is helping quite a bit. I use My Fitness Pal - it's free and easy (my two favorite things!). :-)
Pearl - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Jennifer - Sorry you can’t take the day off - hopefully it’s still nice when you finish work and you can enjoy it!
Beth - I’ve been eyeing the seed catalogs myself - I can’t wait to get everything in the ground!
Have a great evening everyone!! Hopefully I can shake this work-related malaise and check in this weekend.
Nicole, I didn't mean to make you feel that way! I was actually trying to encourage you to eat more since I wondered if you were getting enough veggies. Of course, I live with 3 large men (DH and both sons are over 6 foot) so I probably think all portions should be large.
Gabby, as I march through my 50's I find I have to be more conscious of portion sizes. I use My Fitness Pal also, while eating by SB principles. I know we aren't supposed to need to count anything, but sometimes I have issues with portions.
