Looking absolutely wonderful for the Syrup Festival activities both days.
I plan to be out of here in about 45 minutes to deliver floats and cash boxes to the Mill, Town Hall and Drive Shed and then do the lovely drive to pick up bread for sale. Some of the syrup producers have already set up their stands and are ready to roll.
Have a good weekend. As they say in Delta, I'll be "seldom".
We have a beautiful day here today! I am looking forward to making the most of it. Yesterday I did some clean up in the flower beds and hope to finish that today, plus rake along the road frontage to deal with the mess left by the plows. I have a little paperwork to do as well, and maybe get a few groceries. Oh and laundry needs to happen sometime.
Ruth, I'm sure the festivities will be a success. Enjoy yourself! Hope you are feeling better.
Ruth - I'm looking forward to hearing how well the festival went!
Beth - enjoy getting your outside work done. It would be a great day to clean out the garden beds, here.
Ooooohhhh, it is SO beautiful outside!! DH talked about going fishing, we might try it. I do want to do a little bit of something outside today - if not fishing, then maybe a short walk. I didn't go to Ollie's yesterday because I figured I'd wait til I could bring the kids with me, and they could blow off time in the kids' book section.
Nicole - That phasing in to phase II can really be helpful. A lot of people found if they had oatmeal for breakfast, it would trigger cravings later that AM. So they figured you could have a grain, but only in the evening. Or if you have fruit, it could only be certain kinds. Do a fruit OR a grain the first week, then the second week, add another one in. It's certainly a lesson in patience, but you do learn your body and what triggers it.
Pearlrose, plants are headed to greenhouse after this snow stops. Right now they are in the living room. How is FIL?
Nicole, I'm one who is triggered by oatmeal. Wasn't much for eggs/etc in the am. I came up with a power smoothie (mostly greens) and it's my every day breakfast. I love it and find my energy goes down when I miss a day.
Me, up, and today is dedicated to getting DH ready for his trip. He leaves Tuesday morning and I work Monday and Tuesday. Right now loading his Grateful Dead cd onto his phone. I have a hard time with ITunes. Found an app that bypasses it and it's working great. Next, to suitcase.lol It's snowing like crazy. I hope we don't get all that's predicted.
Thank you for all the helpful tips and links. I am working on my food shopping list for the week makes it easy if I can only add one carb in a week. I go for a series of injections Monday which leaves me sick for a week o this week I will add a carb safe cracker since I normally live off of pretzels the week after injections. It is another beautiful day here thankfully.
Good morning everyone. I'm still waking up after a long day. Looking forward to catching up after missing a day. Yesterday I was up at 5 and not home until midnight. Lucky me gets to work on this beautiful day. Going to get a little outdoor time in before I go. Maybe a nap in a beach chair....oh that sounds Devine!
It is a beautiful day here, I just have minor cleaning to do today. DD1 and I are going to an outlet mall in St. Louis and I need to swing by work and pick up baseball tickets I was given for tomorrow's game. DH and DD2 and her GF are going to film a video someone is producing to promote reading- they should have fun. FIL was released yesterday and is doing well.
Ruth glad the weather is cooperating for the festival. Have fun.
Beth DH did most of the yard work yesterday, though I do see weeds now so I will need to start tackling them, maybe later this afternoon.
Tywnn DD1 went fishing yesterday, good weather for it.
Debbie I hope you don't get as much as predicted- I can imagine that DH is excited for his trip
Nicole for me in order to stay in weight loss phase I have to do what I and others term Phase 1.5 which means limited fruits and grains and it is trial and effort to see which ones you can eat and not start triggers.
Jekel that was a long day yesterday, a nap on a beach chair sounds great
Ruth - Mmmmm…syrup festival!!! I could definitely do some damage there! Have fun!!
Beth - Well…I’m a little lower in elevation than Debbie and so far all we have is rain with a few snow flakes here and there. They weather folk did say that if the temperature didn’t get cold enough that we would stay with rain below 7,000 feet and it appears that is what happened. I’m ok with that!!
Tammy - Have fun today - it sounds like it’s a great day to do lots of things!
Debbie - Hi from down here where it’s just rain (so far). Crossing my fingers that you don’t get the several feet I’ve heard predicted for up there.
Nicole - Good luck with adding in some phase 2 foods and I hope the injections don’t make you too sick this time around.
Jennifer - Oh…napping in a beach chair - nice!
Pearl - Have fun shopping today! So good to hear about your FIL!!
Well…today my bellydance troupe is performing/teaching at a local dance/health festival. I’m really glad it’s only raining - hopefully we will have a big crowd. After that laundry is calling my name - ick! The hubby is grilling some steaks tonight for dinner and I think I’ll steam some broccoli to go along with it. I was up a bit this morning so I think I need to make sure and get the sodium down today and drink lots of water.
Another glorious morning here today! Yesterday I finished raking the flower beds and put a dent in the roadside cleanup. Today I will try to continue. And yes, Pearlrose, now I can see the weeds starting already. Spring is always so busy! Plus I want to order some seed mats.
Other than that, I managed to get groceries yesterday but need to do laundry today. Jennifer, did you get your nap yesterday?
Ruth, how did the festival go? Nikki, hope this week's treatment isn't too bad.
Have a good day, chicks! It's going to be a good one here.
Good Sunday morning - Day 2 of the Delta Maple Syrup Festival. I survived Day 1 and am off to the Fair Hall shortly to do my Fair Board Director job at the hall where the syrup and pancakes are served. I've just finished five loaves of sandwiches for the crew who sure won't want pancakes for lunch on Day 2 of cooking the things! I am due there by 8:30 to start cooking sausages.
Tremendous "crowds" in the Village - at one time there were 60 people watching the grind in the Mill and we were selling bags of our Red Fife stone-ground flour as soon as the bags were sealed! We have several orders so may have to do another grind before we are officially open.
.
Tomorrow is gym day but my body is still pretty sore and bruises are at the deep purple stage so I'll skip gym and just go to the 9:30 Board Meeting. I see there is also a 7:30 resurrect the closed Church which I definitely can't miss. Early bed tonight.
Ruth- Sounds like a long day. I hope you have great weather.
Another gorgeous day here. I will be planting some seeds today, taking the dog to the park, doing a craft fair and some sewing. I think I will make the maple chicken entree from Phase I dinner recipes tonight. I am nervous about Phase 2. I have to find a program to log everything I eat so I can keep track of what is/ is not working. Phase 1 spoiled me. I think by tomorrow I will be down 8 lbs or at least I am hoping.
All I have time for is to say hello, I'm still alive, and it's still snowing. We have 4 feet so far he could be our 6 foot snow. The last one was 13 Springs ago. We got my four-wheel-drive shoveled out and I went around the block and dumped all the snow off it in front of the rec center. LOL. That makes up for the big berm they always leave it in front of my car.
Was up early, allergies have now kicked in with Spring in full bloom, though not to bad yet just mainly a runny nose. It is another beautiful day we are getting up to 78 degrees today, I think we are going to slip straight into summer lol.
DH and I are going to the Cardinals baseball game at 1 today so need to make sure to put on sunscreen so I don't burn.
Debbie that is a lot of snow for this time of the year
Good morning! The rain finally changed over to snow for us last night. We only have about 3" so far but it's still snowing. Pretty sure we won't hit Debbie's total down here. Finishing up my coffee now and time to get bundled up and go shovel some snow. Keeping my fingers crossed this is the last shoveling for the season but I won't be holding my breath.
