Default Spring Ahead! Weekend Chat March 12-13

Good morning! I'm up and there's coffee. You can choose between the big pot or the Keurig.

Anyone ready?

So we have a sunny weekend ahead and warmish temperatures. I also heard some new migratory birds outside, including the first mourning doves. DH saw a robin too! The calendar says spring officially begins this week, the clocks spring ahead tonight so we might get to declare winter on the way out.

Yesterday was a very long day. After work DH and I drove to Albany and back (8 hours) to meet up with DS2. So we have both boys home for the weekend. It's good to see them.

Today I will try to get a walk outside and then the school musical is tonight: Fiddler on the Roof. The kids always do a great job.

Ruth, are you happy with your haircut?

Tammy, thinking of you and wishing safe travels and some concrete news.

Jennifer, did you get in another outdoor walk? Will you get to take a bike ride this weekend? I saw your post about DS; it's tough growing up.

Cyndi, we finally got rid of our snow this week. I think I have some daffodils sprouting in the little raised bed. Happy birding!

Happy Saturday, chicks!

Good morning it's a slow start because we are very tired, but we will get there just in time for warm temps and lots of walking throwing Crockpot Red Lentil, Chickpea, and Tomato Soup with Smoked Paprika in so we have dinner when we get home, packing some nuts, yogurt, carrots, and water, then heading out. The 10 day forecast still says no s**w and lots of off time for the pellet stove That works for me

Happy Saturday Chicks! Hope you get to spend some of the day doing something that gives you joy.

Good morning Beth and chicks to come

Beth it takes me 8 hours to drive to Virginia. You didn't even leave the state! Glad the boys are home together. I decided spring is here too. My neighbor's crocuses are blooming and I have lots of goodies sprouting up. Weather permitting, we might get a little rain, I will go for another outdoor ride tomorrow or Monday.

Cyndi I grew up a mike from the ocean. I loved going for walks in the spring along the beach before the tourists hit. Enjoy your time at Plumb Island.

Just tidying up around here and next door before going in. I want to vacuum their couches as Rylee has spent most of the week lounging on them. Already took care of the litter box (wish dogs could use them) and will clean up the lawn land mines after breakfast. Tomorrow I will spruce up my two pups for spring and maybe a flower bed or two. I think I would like to get my beds mulched this year. I haven't done that in ages.

Hope everyone enjoys this beautiful day.

Beth, don't the birds sound wonderful? So does Fiddler on the Roof! I hope you enjoy it.

Cyndi - Kalyn has a lot of recipes I want to try , I hope you enjoy yours. Your time off sounds *amazing*. It was fun, if you saw that pic of my daughter and I on FB, it was at a spot a lot of birdwatchers hang out at. She was very excited to see (some kind of) woodpecker. I need to get my bird book out and try to start identifying them.

So our trip was a bust - the doc offered absolutely nothing. Bad in one way (I had other things I could do with 2 days and several hundred dollars with travel, etc), but good because it just confirms to me to go with the doc I saw on Monday. He's the only one that said let's look into what's wrong, instead of throwing drugs at it (which is what my neuro is doing), bandaging it (the other doc wanted to go straight to surgery), or ignoring it (the other two opinions). So I will call him Monday to start the ball rolling. Big problem is it is at a facility almost 2 hours away (Hershey), but near Linda! I'm hoping if I have surgery there, which is where this is headed, maybe she'll come visit me. LINDA!? Are you lurking?!?! XOXO!!

So today I think DH wants to go to the Science Center. This is when I admit that there is no way in H-E-double hockey sticks I can walk that far, so I'll have to rent a wheelchair. Very humbling - had to do it last summer at a zoo. But maybe Hershey will fix me?!? Enjoy your health, chicks!!

Oh - Ruth, how's the do? I need to schedule mine. Mine is down to my bra strap now, I'm thinking of cutting it chin length....

Jennifer, don't forget it's a long state if you go top to bottom. Longer yet if I turn the corner and head out onto Long Island! Remember how long your trip was to college visit last fall?

Cyndi, I try to use the crockpot every weekend and I've also been giving the new pressure cooker a workout! My dream retirement home is near the water....

Tammy, sorry about the trip but at least now you have a direction for your treatment.

Jennifer, you snuck in. Gosh, a lot of times the dogs will volunteer to clean the litter boxes for you! Ewwwww......it used to annoy me when my dog would come running to me with glee at seeing me, with clumping kitty litter on her nose and gums. Ick, Ick, Ick!!

Late check-in from Delta - nice to see almost everyone here. It's sometimes pretty lonely on The Beach early in the morning.

Getting a haircut in town with Mr Danny was a good lift for my "blue" mood. After he was finished he gave me his arm and walked me out of the salon, through the mews and into a lovely new shop called Boardwalk Landing. Gorgeous clothing, made in CANADA, washable and very packable. I decided to on a few things - somehow I don't think I'll ever be a slim and tiny old lady but I can be as classy and colourful as possible. I bought several tops in bright colours.

No daffodils up here as yet but the snow is melting very fast - and Lake Sheridan is growing. My property gets the runoff from the fields and hills for miles behind me - my ditch used to be a stream running to the creek and just can't handle all the water. *Sigh* I'm hoping the flood doesn't last until July as it did last summer. In the meantime, I'm glad my basement doesn't flood - as long as the sump-pump keeps running.

I'm going to the last in the current string of funerals this morning and tonight we are going to a local pub to celebrate two birthdays - and yes we have a designated driver ... and it's not me!

Good morning,

Wow what a busy night, I was on with work until 10 p.m. last night, we migrated just our department 600 people from GroupWise email to Outlook and what a mess. We couldn't see one of our mail boxes that customers email us for help on so had to get that straightened out.

DD2 and one of her GF decided to spend the night at our house so not quiet but that is okay with me, enjoy having them home. They were scrap booking and took up the whole kitchen floor but they did a great job of cleaning up after themselves.

Beth so glad that you get to enjoy both DS being home.

Cyndi hope you enjoy the birding today, we have warm temps but it is going to rain for the next couple of days.

Jekel I am with you on I wish doggies would you use the cat litter box as well as I normally have a present waiting for me downstairs when I come down each morning even though we walk ours every night before bed.

Tywnn sorry you didn't hear the news you wanted but at least you now know the direction to take.

Ruth glad you like your new hair and got some new clothes. I did order some clothes that were on sale from Macy's and when they came in decided to but away my sweaters for the year and switch out clothes. We might still have a few days of colder weather but I think we are over the hump and I have a light jacket and heavy jackets I can wear if necessary.

Have a wonderful Saturday everyone, Don't forget to move your clocks forward tonight.

Beth - Please share any great pressure cooker recipes you've found. I want to use mine more but haven't really done much yet. I do use it all the time for beans and stock, but not much else.

Good morning. The dog alarm went off at 6 this morning when it was still dark. We will survive. I don't know why a one hour change is so difficult and I get fed up with the crabbing. Maybe we should just change our clocks by ten minutes a week for 6 weeks?

Had a great time at Joanne's birthday party. There were 78 people there and I think I talked with all of them. Joanne used to work at the venue and the kitchen outdid itself with party food. Chicken satay with peanut sauce was to die for. There was a blues/jazz band which was great and got people dancing - me too for a bit until my legs got too sore. The dogs were glad to see me home just after 11. Heather's son Jack(17) was the Driving Miss Daisy person and it was nice to spend 20 minutes talking with him on the way. He has changed so much from the morose, crabby teen he was at 13. I have known Jack since he was 5.

Not sure what today will bring but a clear day will be great! The snow is nearly gone from the back deck to so I may
do some work out there in hope of being able to sit in the sun and do some hand sewing soon. I may also put on my farmer rubber boots and check the culvert for blockage since Lake Sheridan is growing but not flowing away. My sump pump is running a lot.

Whatever you do, enjoy this day!

Good morning. Ruth sounds like a great party. So nice Jack was your chauffeur.

Pearlrose we went from Group Wise to Outlook what a nightmare! I am not the greatest with computer changes. The Help Desk got quite a few calls from me lol. Nice that DD and her friend enjoy scrapbooking. Certainly beats them being in the bedroom playing video games.

Tammy sorry you didn't get much from the dr. At least now you have a plan of direction. Hopefully the Hershey doctor can get to the bottom of this and get you on your strength back.

I'm off but have the on call duty until tomorrow morning. My plan is to stay home and rake flower beds. I think it is safe to turn in the outside water. So maybe if I am feeling super motivated I might wash my car. I got most of the laundry done yesterday. I might bring up a patio chair or two from the basement so I can sit outside when it is warm enough. Otherwise nothing else.

I wonder how Debbie's trip is going....

Good morning early chicks!
I love waking up to a sunny morning and it looks to be spring-like again today. Yesterday I managed a short walk outside which is a nice change. Didn't get much done in terms of housework but you know what? It ain't going anywhere! Today I will definitely mop the kitchen floor and do some laundry. The play was very well done and I enjoyed it even though I was tired. The kids are always amazing with their talent and enthusiasm.

Ruth, the party sounds like great fun! Our snow is pretty much gone, just the piles from the plows. Any chance today will bring a moment of relaxation for you??

Jennifer, enjoy your day. Hopefully you won't be called in and you can tackle your list.

Cyndi, I've only done meat in my pressure cooker. We had our neighbor raise a pig for us last summer and I seem to do pork the most. I've got a pork chop recipe that can go in the pressure cooker or crockpot, then I've also done pulled pork, ribs when the kids were home, ham steaks (from frozen), a whole chicken, pot roast. My cooker has a steamer rack so I can cooked a sweet potato or acorn squash on that while the meat is in.

Funny how big a shift that clock change makes but I enjoy the evening daylight.

Good morning,

Woke up to another rainy day here, envy those that woke up to sunshine. I got a lot accomplished yesterday. Did some errands and ran to Michael's to pick DD2 a drawing pad and pens that her art teacher recommended. She drew the entire evening I have 3/4 of DD1's carpet down, it is looking pretty good if I do say so myself.

Ruth sounds like you had a wonderful time at the party!

Jekel this was just the first round, we have 3 more to go 4K, 14K and 14K shall be interesting to say the least.

Beth that sounds yummy cooking pork in the pressure cooker

Enjoy your Sunday
