Red face Hi....

Hello there...

My name is Megan. I joined this forum in hopes of being in contact with people who are trying to change their lives and their weight, I suppose...I want to be held accountable for what I'm doing and what I'm eating and get feedback from people that know.

About me...well...I guess I have been a big girl all my life. I mean I know I am as heavy now as I ever want to get and that is why I'm trying to turn myself around and head back down a healthier path. I have not gotten on a scale...I tried to get on the scale at the gym one day but it couldn't weigh me because it couldn't weigh over 400 pounds...I remember wanting to cry but I grit my teeth and told myself "No. This is just the facts, for now. You are working on changing it, so just chill". That was back in October or November. Since then, I still have not tried, I've been more so focusing on trying to eat better but the exercise has kind of fallen by the wayside...However, on a good note, I saw my Aunt and cousins on my birthday (March 1st) and they said that they could see that I've been trying. They said they noticed it mostly in my face and legs and I think that my waist has gotten slimmer. They said they noticed a slight change at Christmas time but even more so now. I think I'm about ready to bite the bullet and get on the scale and at least keep track of my numbers...

I am in this for the long haul. I'm not trying to lose weight for an event (although I have a wedding to attend on April 30th) I just want to lose weight until I feel healthy and confident. And I think joining a forum is a great place to start.

On a more personal note, I am a 27 year old female from Pennsylvania. I have a 35 year old live-in boyfriend (Jason) of about 4 years and two sweet kitties (Midnight Thackery and Mittens Marie) who are my babies! I know it's strange to give your cats middle names, but hey. I have baby fever like crazy and it seemed like a good idea at the time.

I also have a mild obsession with Ronnie Radke of the band Falling in Reverse. To be honest, some of his music and the things he's been through inspired me to want to take control of my life and my weight.

Anyway, I really am sorry for the long post. But I wanted to be open and honest and share myself with y'all so that you know what you're dealing with. There is a LOT of personality to go with the rest of me! Hehehe.

Welcome! Actually, thanks for the long post. It is great to get know people on the boards.
First off, I think that your attitude and motivation are GREAT. Seriously. Some people have to work very hard mentally to get where you are, mindset-wise.
Second, it's okay to have been dragging your feet for a while. Everyone does. But with that said... LIFE IS SHORT.

You have great names for your cats! My cat's "full name" is Pussatrix Lestrange (think Harry Potter). We just call her Trixie, though.

Hello and Welcome!! This is a great place to share the good bad and ugly of weight management. You will find all kinds of people with all different experiences and simply reading their successes and trials is enough to make you feel not alone. I started here in 2014 then disappeared for about a year and a half but I am back because there are so many times I have lost the same 10-15lbs. Like you I am seeking a healthy, sustainable lifestyle.

Try to remember the journey is just as important as the destination. Take pleasure in the small victories as well as milestones. This takes time but the time is going to pass anyway..

A little about myself, I am also 27 and from Maine. My fiancée is 28 and we adopted a dog in October. He is my furbaby and a huge inspiration for me to get healthy. I want to be able to run with him and take him on hikes but that is impossible if I get winded walking up a hill!! I don't think its strange at all to give pets middle names it is adorable

must get back to work! Welcome again I wish you the best!! See you around

Welcome Megan! Sounds like you are off to a great start. If you haven't added exercise just yet that's ok! It's all about making small long lasting lifestyle changes and over time you will get the results you seek.
I too am a newbie here. I scoped the site out for a while but feel that maybe by posting my progress I can hold myself more accountable. I am 27 as well (Shout out to the 27years olds) but I will be turning 28 next month. I'm also not necessarily looking to lose weight for an event or anything but i told myself I spent my whole 20s unable to really enjoy it because I have been so unhappy with my weight so I'm hoping by the time I'm 30 I will be in shape and living a healthy life.

Thank you for the sweet replies! I'm really excited to get to know you all better.

TrixieCat: It has taken me a long time to get into this mindset. I have told myself before that I wanted to get healthier but then I would eat some mac and cheese and say "Nope, I can't give this up" and go back to eating garbage all the time. I still eat mac and cheese, but only every once in a blue! Also, your cat's name is amazing. I had a cat named Jasper Whitlock Hale (I was a Twihard for about five minutes lol) but he was taken from me in 2013 shortly before my mom...In addition, I have a friend in Florida who has a cat named Trixie and she is almost an identical twin of my Mittens. It's creepy, actually.

xopeaceandlovexo: It's great to know that you are the same age as me! I would LOVE to live in Maine! Are you friends with Stephen King? ;-) My family and I took a trip to Bar Harbor years ago and have some hilarious tales if you'd like to hear :-P Also, a dog is a great weight loss buddy! I had to put my dog to sleep in November...she was 16 years old and she started to get sick. I'd love to get another dog as a "reason" to get out and walk but my boyfriend and I are trying to get our finances in check and don't want the extra responsibility right this minute.

RuizGirl: 27 years old and FAB! Lol. I feel exactly the same way. I feel like my teenage years were wasted with hating myself and my weight. A lot of people can look back and say dang I was so pretty and I guess I was but I was still heavy and I wish that I had taken the initiative then. It would have been so much easier. But 30 is the new 20 and we are going to get where we want to be and rock it!

I am really sorry about your dog!! sounds like she lived a good long life though. I think Maine is awesome and I always love a good story about this place! I would say Steven king is my friend...I mean I have driven by his house a few times!! Bar Harbor is a gorgeous place there are many beautiful places here to visit, one of my goals this summer is to visit a few places I have never been like Acadia.

Well I can't tell you exactly where we stayed but there was this journal in the hotel room that told us all the good and bad things about the place. It mentioned that the Exxon gas station had the best pizza! And those meals were actually some of the best we had there! LOL!

There was also this restaurant called Carlos (an Italian joint) that was soooooo bad that my dad called the manager into the room and told him to shut the door. I'm pretty sure we didn't pay for that meal. My mother had ordered some kind of steak and it looked like a turd. xD Even someone who loves to eat as much as me was NOT about to touch the goopy carbonara that I got. (Sims fans will appreciate that! LOL!!)

Also, we went on a whale watching boat. EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. Got sick on this trip except my cousin and myself. Her mom was trying to take care of two sick teenage boys, a husband and herself while my cousin kept bugging her for money because she was hungry hehe only my cousin could want food in the midst of everyone losing their lunch. We also stopped at a Denny's down there who said we would have to wait like an hour because they ran out of food!

All in all not the most successful trip but still great, hilarious memories

That's really funny because for some reason I love gas station pizza!!! I wouldn't eat anything else out of a gas station haha. I think we have some of the best and worst restaurants here you just have to know where to go and I used to play the sims all. the. time. seriously!! I have thought about getting it now hahaha but I always tell myself I should be doing better things with my time. Who knows I might get it someday.
