Default The Weekend - February 27 and 28

Good early morning.

Sad news last night. I have to go to Ottawa to say farewell to my friend Shirleyanne who has been ill for several years. Shirl and I have been friends since we were 18 - 60 years is a long time. I'll leave here mid-morning and hope to be back before dark. My wonderful neighbours will look after the three dogs by letting them out and giving them supper if I'm not back in time. I suspect I'll be relying on them again next week when I go to a funeral.

Cherish your friends, Chickies.

Ruthie, I'm so sorry about Shirleyanne! I know you two have shared a deep friendship throughout the years, and it's going to be hard to say goodbye to your best friend. Please take care of yourself and have a safe drive today.

Good morning.

Ruth I am so sorry. Not too many people can say they have been friends for 60 years. Thinking of you. Glad you have great neighbors who will take care of the pups. Drive carefully.

Not much happening here. Woke to a beautiful sunny day which is always nice. Looking forward to being off tomorrow. I may need to make a pit stop at the grocery store to buy pre cut veggies for snacks. The fresh pre cut veggies are pricey, but I don't have enough here to hold me until I do my weekly shopping. Otherwise just my normal stuff before work this afternoon.

I am so sorry about your friend, Ruth. Take good care of you this weekend. How wonderful to have 60 years of memories with one person. I'll drink to you and Shirl tonight.

Home now and sad although so glad I went. Shirl has maybe 48 hours left and is getting lots of morphine for pain but knew I was there and smiled when I massaged her hands with lavender lotion. The palliative care nurse was a sweetie. (I left it with her for later and told her to keep the rest for herself when "the big later" came Now I'm home with my menagerie of three darling dogs.) It will be a quiet and contemplative evening.

Tomorrow I will gather pictures and some memories for the celebration of life which will be a spring BBQ in my Shirl's lovely garden on her birthday.

Good morning. Had "three dog night" which was rather different. Angus is way too big and friendly to share my bed although he disagrees. At his house, he is allowed to sleep wherever he wants but this is MY house, MY rules. (I went upstairs at 8:30 to get into my jammies and never made it back downstairs! I guess I was tired.)

Today will be a quiet and contemplative day. Liz will come over this afternoon to see if she can fix my Facebook. I think I have to rejoin under another name and email. That will certainly shrink my "friends" list - a good thing in a way as it needs weeding. Of course I'll let you chicks know the new info. Not sure what the weather will be - there seem to be "Weather Alerts" lately for lots of freezing rain and ice pellets but nothing major happens. March can be as fickle as February but I'm hoping for an early spring. I always hang my Spring/Easter wreath on March1 and will need to take down the outside lights before then... ya think?

Two days left for February weightloss! Can I lose three pounds in two days? Must do the March Chart right now.

Have a SUNday,no matter what the weather brings.

Good morning Ruth and chicks to come. The celebration of Shirl's life BBQ on her birthday sounds like a beautiful way to honor your friend. Coming from an Irish upbringing, wakes were always pretty light hearted which made them dare I say enjoyable as a child. It must have been a sight to see Angus trying to get into bed with you!! My Easter hat and spring flags will have to wait until after St. Patrick's Day. I may even bake Irish soda bread for work. I use my Aunt Kitty's grandma's recipe from Gallway.

Off today and tomorrow. Will spend time with Joe later today. First laundry and exercise. My Fitbit Blaze came this week. It is actually pretty motivating for me. BTW Ruth the sticky was closed already lol.

Cyndi hope Tim's back holds up this weekend.

Beth how was the hockey game?

Hope everyone enjoys their springlike Sunday. We are supposed to hit 60 today! I can't remember it ever being that warm here in February!

Good morning!

I didn't get here yesterday. I slept later than usual and mismanaged my time and right before I was supposed to leave for work when I went to give Bing his pills he just kept spitting them out. I tried several different things, yogurt, broth, finally wrap them and peanut butter and by that time I was running late.

Ruth, I'm so glad you got to go visit your friend. Such a difficult time. ((Hugs))

I work at seven this morning then have to drop off's. My mom will take Bing and Kirby will go to daycare. I spent some time already getting my act together so I don't repeat yesterday. It was beautiful out when I got home yesterday so I spent 2 1/2 hours out digging in the yard. Weeds, of course. Then when it was time to go to bed I couldn't sleep. I think my connection with the earth gave me lots of energy. Finally just did a few things around the house and didn't want to get up again this morning. LOL

Happy Sunday everyone!

Thanks, Jennifer! I just spotted my goof and fixed it. I'm operating slightly on auto-pilot these days.

Good morning,

It is going to be another beautiful day here as well. Yesterday, didn't go anywhere, I did manage to get nails removed from DD2 room and starting sanding but decided I will need to rent the big sander as I don't feel like having to do the sanding by handheld will take way too long.

I have my eating plan together for this week, I slipped yesterday and had no so good foods, so back on track today.

Ruth the spring barbecue sounds like a great way to celebrate your friend. Did Angus end up sleeping in his bed?

Jekel I think I will do something outside today to enjoy the nice weather just not sure what yet.

Debbie hope work goes by quickly for you? Any news on the road clean up?

Beth How did DS to at his hockey game? Maybe I will go watch DS play hockey today, he plays every Sunday just about.

Cyndi did you have to go visit MIL this weekend?

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good evening, chicks. I'm back at home and mentally getting ready for work tomorrow.

Jennifer and Pearlrose, thanks for asking. DS1's team ended up winning the league. It was bittersweet; this was the college team and he is graduating in May so an end to a chapter of his life. I suspect he will continue to play and volunteer for fun but this marks the end of his competitive career.

Ruth,
did Delta get any warmth today?? Central NY was in the 50's but when I got home it looked as if the high here was barely above freezing. And the week's forecast includes some chilly temperatures! At least we know it can't last long; spring has to come, right? Hope you had a calm day and you got your fb situation fixed.

Jennifer, I have gone back to wearing pedometer due to a wellness challenge at work. I agree that it is motivating. Hope you had both a productive and relaxing day off.

Debbie,
the only outdoor work going on here right now is chipping away at the ice that built up during the storms of the last 2 weeks. Hope you had a good day at work.

Pearlrose, sounds like you are making good progress on your project!

Can't believe February is wrapping up. Seems like it flew by!
