Default Hunger

My Edo is suggesting that I have surgery. I can eat low calorie but constantly being hungry is really, really hard. So IO only lose so much and then give in to and stop losing. My Endo says that after surgery, you dont have the same hunger urges....is that true? Is that what you all find?

I am not sure due to the fact that I still have not had surgery yet, but soon to come. I have also done some research and seen this been said so lets hope so.

Well...the hunger urges are certainly less but I still get hungry. Here's the thing though, you have to learn to decipher between true hunger and head hunger. Our surgeons only operate on our tummy but there is a psychological component to this whole adventure and it requires addressing our addiction to food.

This is true... for a while. For most people, the lack of hunger lasts about a year. Those nerves do grow back and the hormone does start being produced again. Some (like me) never lose our hunger completely. Measure all of your food and stop when you're supposed to. After you're past that honeymoon period, all bets are off.
Also, 1000% agree with MichelleRae. 90% of this battle is in our heads. Going to therapy to deal with food issues was the best thing I ever did for myself on this journey.

Good luck!

I had the gastric sleeve surgery on June 2, 2016. I am never hungry but I can tell when my stomach is empty. That feeling is quickly addressed with water or food. A good friend of mine had the same surgery 2 years ago and says she is still never hungry. I don't know if this will be the case always but it is odd not to feel hungry after so many years of being hungry a great deal of the time.

Had gastric sleeve surgery on May 19, 2016. It is a very different hungry sensation after surgery and I have found that most of the time I am thirsty instead of hungry. I sometimes feel like a child learning how to eat all over again. You still have to make wise decisions with your food, but it is so much easier.

I have had no complications introducing new foods, I just make an effort to make better choices and right now I am not tempted by unhealthy foods. I hope during this honeymoon stage I am developing good food habits that will carry over for the rest of my life.
