I'm Vee - a fifty-something from the UK. My weight has crept up over the past few years, particularly since I stopped smoking and I now find myself at 192 lb. I don't like myself this way, I am beginning to get stiff joints and this weight will not be helping.
My overall goal is to lose 60 lb. I am going to calorie-count - although if I start to lose motivation I might flip to weight watchers, for a bit of support and companionship.
Exercise might be tricky apart from walking and maybe a bit of swimming due to a long-standing (not weight-related) knee injury and surgery.
I will weigh in on Mondays and would really love a few buddies. Onwards and upwards!
Monday 4 January - 10,111 steps today - not sure about the accuracy of my pedometer though. Bring on the FitBit (hurry up Amazon). Calories consumed today 1,200.
Wednesday 6 January - no rain today so 12,906 steps. Will log today's calories tomorrow (it's a bit early yet).
Calories were 2,248 - so still on track (despite two naughty Thornton's chocolates - whoops!)
Thursday 7 January 2016 steps - not so great - 7,742, calories 1,197
Friday 8 January steps (trying to make up for yesterday) 16,946, calories 1,280 but today was hard. I just really wanted to have something naughty. I counted in one chocolate biscuit, but I really wanted to eat a few more.
Saturday 9th January - somehow I lost my pedometer but at a conservative guess 6,000 as I spent the afternoon shopping. Calories - bit naughty 1.621.
Sunday no pedometer but I always knew today would be a bit day as I had a lunch thing today so most of the day is sitting down and it has rained since. I reckon today might be 3,000 all told - at a push. Calories I reckon I am at 1,700 (I can't weigh the portions in the venue, plus I chose my menu before I decided to diet) but it is only 6pm so will try to get a full total later. So yeah, today is going to be a total bust - but it always was going to be grim.
And.... ta-dah... tomorrow is my first weighing-in day! Although I did have a sneaky peek mid-week.
On the upside Amazon have despatched my FitBit! Whoo-hoo. Hoping it will arrive tomorrow to replace my missing pedometer.

Reason: I thought of something I wanted to add... d'uh!
The FitBit arrived. Calories in 1,250 Calories Burned 1,964 Steps 10,256 so that's not too bad. Weighed in. Lost 3 lb. So that's cool. Bring on week two.
Thursday 14 January 10,950 steps, calories in 1,201, calories burned 2,182, active minutes 39.
Friday 15 January 13,624 steps, calories in 1,176, calories burned 2,372, active minutes 52.
Saturday 16 January 10,575 steps, calories in 1,113, calories burned 2,335, active minutes 39.
So far it's going okay. Weekdays are easier as I have quite an active job but on weekends I struggle and have to go out of my way to get the 10.00 steps in. Hopefully the weather will stay mild as the only way I will hit 10,000 today is going out for a 5 mile walk or doing a massive, but knee-sparing, Zumba session.
Updated to add:
The walk won out - bit parky out today though.
Sunday 17 January 11,453 steps, 1,384 calories in, calories burned 2,063 - 62 active minutes.
Thursday 21 January: 11,125 steps will edit for calories burned at end of day. Calories eaten - it was messy - I had chips and lots of Haribo at lunch and so stopped counting. Back on it tomorrow. Let's just call it a day off.
Haven't logged in for a while, just busy, busy, busy. Apart from that naff day pretty much stayed the course. Only managed about 8,000 steps on Saturday and Sunday (but did about 13,000 yesterday so made that up. Had a 1.5 lb loss last week. So, given the glitch - I can live with that. 8 lb in three weeks! Very happy. But I do worry about how I will keep motivated when/if I plateau.
Thursday 28 January - calories burned 2,091 - calories eaten 1,060 - deficit 1.031.
Friday 29 January - calories burned 2,225 - calories eaten 958 - deficit 1,267.
Exercise-wise this is going to be a lazy weekend. But I did sneak a peek at the scales this morning and it looks like this is going to be a good week! Certainly better than last week's 1.5 lb. Which is good because you need a boost after a disappointing week and at this stage I don't expect to be slowing down much yet - when I have much less to lose my loss will probably slow to a near crawl though.
