Good morning on Day 2 of 2015. Just in from lugging out the garbage and saw a flock of geese heading south - they sure are leaving late this year.
I'm having a hard time getting into gear this morning - probably because I have done Dick-all lately - or is it "Jane"-all for women? I did weigh myself when I got up and saw a slight gain on the scale - probably from indulging in smoked salmon at the levee yesterday afternoon and then a seafood pasta dish for a late supper.
Not sure what today will bring. At least I'm dressed - no more sneaking the trash to the curb in just my robe and slippers. Today may be the day when I wash the fall jackets and stash them away. (I admit that it is now officially winter.) I may go into town to spend a couple of gift cards. Or I may just hunker down by the stove with my furries and catch up on reading New Yorkers.
So thankful to be off today. Another 14 hour workday complete and functioning on 4 hours sleep again today. I know if I was eating poorly I would feel worse. A nasty bug is going around work which I am trying to fend off. Yesterday I didn't even put on my uniform (rank has some privledges lol) The troopers called for additional units which then turned in to a mess for us. I think I won over a few guys yesterday. Let's just say that mess won't happen again.
Other than that little bit of excitement it was a ghost town. My fingers hurt from typing and my eyes were burning even with my reading glasses. Today is extra coffee, TLC for me and un-decorating.
Don't you hate it when you lose a post?! I'll try again...
Good morning and welcome to the weekend. Today will be busy as I try to get my mind around going back to work and a regular schedule on Monday. I need to plan the menus, do some laundry, firm up the details for DS2 to get back to school... And I guess I need to figure out if I have my schoolwork in order or not.
Winter has come for real; we have snow and wind with a single digit low predicted for tomorrow night. brrr But at least we skated through November and December with no cold.
I also think I will dig out a few sweaters and turtlenecks from the back of the closet. But first, coffee and some sort of breakfast.
Good morning We slept in a little, as long as her highness allowed. She decided she needed attention at 6:30, so I was done for. DH managed another hour. We've got some errands and chores to do, then we are off to babysit the adorable one tonight. DD and DSIL are going to a concert, so we get him to ourselves can't wait.
I need to get my lying ticker out of here for a little while. I hope it will be trustworthy again by the end of January
Beth - I am dreading the kids going back to school! When they do, I have to set the alarm to get them going. On days like today (I was awake 3 - 6 am), it was nice to sleep until after 8 . I guess I should look at our weather forecast...
Ruth - you could just be like me and leave the boxes of clothes out Ahhhh, just as no one looks in my bedroom, it's all good!! Glad you are getting some quiet down time, especially after last summer!
Jennifer - how do you do it at our age?! Spoil yourself today!
Cyndi - you're a good grandma . How far away do you live? What concert are they going to see?
I'm not sure we have any plans today, except going to a friend's for dinner. Darla (she even has an awesome name!) is from our former church and just a delight to be around. I'm really looking forward to that. I'm also hoping to finish my book I can't seem to finish!
Ruth. I guess you have to get use to typing 2016 lol. Be good to yourself too.
Jen. Enjoy your most deserved time off.
Beth. Sounds like you have alot to do. Enjoy your weekend too.quebecois new year's eve has lots of food involved: tourtiere(pork meat pie), ham, salads, and always a bouche de noel(yule log). Lots of music which is very much like cajun music. There use to be lots of dancing in the old days. Lol
cyndi. I hope you let that sweet little one sleep.
Tammy. Finish your book and enjoy dinner
We had family over for dinner and I hope that I get a brief retreat from cooking (except necessary meals) for a while. Dh turns 75 next month and we will celebrate with family when youngest son gets back from the Azores.
take care
Sophie
I was dreaming about exercise last night! Who am I??? Hahaha.
Jennifer - enjoy the time off!!!
Beth - wanna come help us undecorate too? Enjoy the coffee and cheers! Cyndi and Ruth
Tammy- what book are you reading? I got a gift card and need to spend it!
Sophie - we had family guests Sat-Mon then Tuesday-Yesterday. I am pretty done too!
Today is going to be some food shopping for Ph 1 and meal planning. Maybe some post-gust clean up too. I had a whole week off from work and parts of my in-laws were here last minute all week. I just want to be lazy!
I didn't post yesterday.....was getting ready to then decided to make a quick trip to Walmart before ski traffic got bad. At 715 it was already bad. Spent the day sewing and resting. Today it's back to the grind. It will be busy. I need to mentally prepare. I've been getting chores done now need to drink more coffee!
Happy first Sunday of the New Year, chicks. We have a winter morning here, snow and a gusty wind. Luckily I don't have to go anywhere today but will do a few inside chores and read while DH watches football. DS2 won't leave until tomorrow which means I'm not in the car right now on my way to the bus with him.
Sophie, my DH has ancestors that are from Montreal so we do pork pies and pea soup on Christmas Eve; I guess technically that is mixing Boxing Day with New Year's Eve.
Tammy, are the kids looking forward to school or dreading it?
Jenne, good to see you back!
Good morning, Debbie! Hope today is a smooth day at work.
Good morning and yes, it's 2016. (I wrote out and mailed cheques yesterday. I wonder how many were wrong! )
Another quiet day at home with the dogs who are just loving our "vacation" and having their human slave at their beck and call. I did do some deskwork - a year end report and a budget for 2016 year for Victoria's Quilts. Today I'll focus on laundry and maybe some sewing. I bought a white blouse in the spring that is too long - the hem shows under jackets or cardigans. Such a simple thing but way too easy to procrastinate about!
Today may also be the day I clean out the fridge and it's freezer. I have way too many packages of odds and ends of leftovers including bones. I see soup in my future. I wonder if leftover taco bake could be made into a soup. We're heading into a typical January a.k.a. freeze your butt off so I see soup in my future.
Enjoy your Sunday as much as possible before we head back to alleged "normal" life tomorrow. In the meantime for us all!
Debbie - hope today isn't too bad at work (good $$, right?!). I'm amazed you can do that at your age. I would bet eating right helps A LOT!
Beth - I'm not sure, they really haven't said. I would bet DD is excited, she loves school. DS might grumbly admit he is, just for something to do .
I love my wind chimes. Can I say it again tomorrow?!? So nice hearing them through the window. I think the tag said they're in the key of C, so lower tones compared to many. Ahhhh....
Today, we're having some friends over for a nice dinner . I bought a ham for Christmas, then didn't make it because DH had so much ham for his mom's passing, he was hammed out . I make simple, yummy (and healthy!) trimmings to go with it. I'm looking forward to having them here!
xGood morning dogs are still curled up sleeping. Lucky me was in bed by 11 and up at 8:30 felt so good. All the decorations are down and back in the basement. I didn't feel great yesterday. So after the house was cleaned I enjoyed Chinese food, won't go near a scale today, a little TV time and a long nap! I think I napped well into the evening. Today will be a workout, laundry, groceries and food prep.
Tammy I took my "good" wind chime down for the winter. I still have two any although they are a higher pitch, I still enjoy them. I loves the low note ones too. Have fun with your company.
Beth are the colleges staring back early? I remember going back mid January....granted that was a lifetime ago lol.
Debbie glad you took some down time. Hope work is profitable without being chaotic.
Ruth I only have a normal size fridge/freezer. It must be nice finding goodies in the freezer. Today feels like a soup day.
Cyndi enjoy your time with the baby!!!
Sophie I love hearing about holiday traditions. Hope you get a reprieve from cooking.
Jenne good to see you back! Hope you enjoyed the visits with the in laws.
Well I think I deserve another cup,of coffee since the pups are still snoring! Have a great day, stay warm!
