Default Still Merry Monday? December 28

Sure hope we are all feeling more of that holiday glow even though it's a work day. I'm feeling the results of two days of taking it easy and am ready to tackle my little piece of the world once again. It's also starting to get brighter in the morning which suits me fine.

This part of Ontario is under a cold, fog, rain and snow warning so my Angus visit has been postponed until . The 401, our only real throughway, will be a mess. I'm sure there will be all sorts of accidents, most of them involving transports. Last winter there seemed to be two a week!

I may join the UC ladies for coffee this morning since I missed them last Monday and won't make it next because of quilting. The hot topic of the day will be that one of the units in our business block is now a store and the one next to it will be a cafe by spring! It's a scary time of year to open a shop but they should be OK if they can hang on until tourist season. They have really nice things but not too upscale for Delta. We are all looking forward to the cafe since there is no place in Delta to get a coffee and a bite to eat - except at my house and that gets old!

I also need to get some veggies into the house - I gave my huge leftover veggie tray to Karen for Christmas Eve. I do have frozen vaggies and may try that salad that Kaplods posted years ago - frozen veggies, Italian dressing and 24 hours in the fridge!

Make your Monday merry in some way, Beachies.

Thanks for the coffee, Jeckel. Timing was perfect as I was just ready for a second cup and a dog way lying on my foot.

I hope you don't mind if I have a cup of yours Jennifer, my coffee isn't ready yet! Shhhhh....don't tell. I bought whipping cream for DD for dessert, and there's some leftover. So I put just a *touch* of that, with milk in my coffee (kinda like making your own half and half!). Unfortunately, I caught my cat drinking my coffee yesterday!! I never finish my coffee (and this was almost a full cup still), and the cream floated to the top, and he wanted it! HA!

I think DH is taking DD to the mall today for a spree. We bought her a basketball hoop, and she decided she didn't want it - which is fine, I'd rather her be honest. So, she wants a spree instead. Funny, we gave her that a few years ago, and she said it was the worst present ever, and I better never do THAT again! Girls.

Ooops, coffee beeper just went off, and dog is scratching at door to come back in (must be cold, she sounds desperate!)...

Good morning I am motivated for a clean day of P1. I promised myself when I get back to goal I will get my hair cut at a salon that only cuts curly hair. I was so close this month, but you know how it goes. I have been growing out the Japanese straightener from my hair. So in my natural state I am curly on top straight on the bottom. A total disaster lol.

Today is my get ready for work day. I am going to work a day tour tomorrow and Wednesday. Our recruits graduate tomorrow from the academy. Wednesday three of my academy classmates are getting promoted to detective. Unfortunately it conflicts with the NYPD Det. Lemm's funeral who was killed in Afghanistan. I will go to the funeral. The viewing and burial are in Westchester, The mass is at St. Patrick's Cathedral. The city will close 5th Avenue for the service, no easy task.

Thursday is New Year's Eve. I will be working from 3pm until 7am. I am due in at 3 on New Year's Day. Hopefully John will cover me as I covered for him on Christmas. I took off the 2nd to take down the decorations.

I really should make a decision about the boiler too lol. Not until I've had more coffee.

Good morning I'm half way through my second cup, but might need another later I've got the usual long chore list. DH keeps getting sent home from work early so I haven't finished any of the tasks I'd planned. I love spending time with him but don't get much done when he is here It's a quiet week here. I hope to get my stitches out tomorrow if the storm doesn't cause problems. Three day stretch with DH in the middle of the week then off to see the babe on Saturday.

Jennifer - I will try to live up to your ambitious title. I've been lazy lately. P1 starts next week for us, but I'm aiming for something more like 1.5 this week.

Ruth - That salad recipe sounds interesting. Is it in our recipes? We have two little cafes in our town and love them both. Hope your new one is as warm and welcoming as our favorite spot.

Tammy - I bought powdered coconut milk for holiday baking. It found it's way into my coffee once, very dangerous Your Dh is a brave man! Hope your DD isn't as picky as mine was at that age.

I better get moving in case my chore time is cut short again. Can't believe DH will work all day if they still have just two patients.

I'm trying a lentil stuffed pepper soup for dinner tonight. If it's good I'll share the recipe tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm just finishing my 2nd cup, and I think I've had enough for now. It's been a bit of a bittersweet holiday for us. Jake's brother had been diagnosed with lung cancer 2 months ago and was to start chemo last week, but developed pneumonia and was in hospital, and suffered a stroke on Christmas Eve and has been going downhill since, and he passed away late last evening. Jake is doing OK, and was glad he went to visit him in the hospital. Poor guy.

(Sorry, I just had 2 phone calls). So, I need to go over to Dad's to get his meds straightened out, and see if he needs to do any errands. I don't have to go over to the farm until later this afternoon, and that's just to feed the dogs and let them run for a while. The sky is a little brighter in the east, maybe we'll actually see the sun a bit before the clouds return tonight!

I'm sorry Linda. I'm glad Jake was able to see him before he passed.

I guess I missed the "good mornings" and will say good afternoon instead. I had a productive morning: made a spinach quiche for myself for this week. I find it helps keep me on track when breakfast is already made. Baked a squash for dinner tonight; we are making turkey this afternoon so I wanted the squash done. And I took my car to get its annual inspection. So now I can spend the afternoon at home; I hope to also fit in a workout in.

(And yes, it is a Merry Monday for me as I have the week off.)

Linda, condolences to your family.

Jennifer, my boys made me go with them to see Star Wars the first night they were both home!

Ruth, looks like we are finally on tap to get a bit of winter. But it sure is nice to know we sailed through November and December without any blizzards.

Cyndi, hope you are healing well and your day is productive.

Tammy, kudos to DH for taking DD shopping.

Tee4Tee, welcome!

Off to find lunch. I have a choice of 2 soups left from last week. Yum!
