Default Finally Friday Again! November 27

Today is "Leftover Turkey Day" for my American friends. Enjoy! If anyone wants to meet me at the 1000 Islands Bridge with the turkey carcass, I'll be there because I like turkey soup almost more than the roasted bird - thigh please, with dressing.

Strange day yesterday - I just was not feeling up to par. I did get Dann to carry my stuff up from the car and went to the bank to do a deposit but that was about it. Spent most of the day inline although I did dehydrate a lot of bananas for my friend Anna. Her doc told her she needs to eat bananas but she hates them. Luckily she loves them dried so I try to keep her supplied. Needless to say the porch lights did not get put up. Oh well, it's not even December ... yet!

I was planning to go to town this morning but realized it's Black Friday - yes, we now have it in Canada. I'll stay home and try to reduce the chaos in the studio and clear off the diningroom table so I can put in the extra leaf for Sunday's multitudes. I don't know how one person can cause so much clutter.

Enjoy your day after leftovers - and I don't mean just turkey.

Good morning, Ruth and chicks to follow!

Ruth, was the turkey carcass comment aimed at me??? Guess I'm closest.... I should probably come over for a lesson since I have never been happy with the results of my turkey soup. Hope you feel better today.

Dinner was delicious, but what's not to like about turkey, gravy and winter squash?? And I can't rave enough about Kalyn's cheesecake recipe. That one is a keeper.

I don't have too many plans for the day. I need to go to the grocery store, but I think it will be much safer than many other stores on this Black Friday. And I want the boys to help get the Christmas stuff out of the attic; that way I can pick away at decorating as I have time and motivation. We aren't the family that puts up the tree today, I prefer the first weekend in December.

Time to refill my cup.

Good morning Ruth. I too will join you staying home today. Hope you feel more like yourself soon. No leftovers in this house which is fine by me. Next year if Joe doesn't do Thanksgiving I am. I don't care if it is just DS and myself. It was chaotic at my brother's. My sisters and I were each told different times to be there, no big deal as it was on a half an hour apart. The turkey didn't arrive until after 3:30, 2 hours after I did lol. At 5:30 we still had not sat down for dinner. My SIL was in way over her head with 18! Then her sisters took over which I don't think she appreciated. DS was supposed to go to his dad's, so I finally had to say something to my brother. We ate at 5:45 and were out the door at 6:10. I really hate complaining, but growing up, even when I hosted, if dinner was at 2, dinner was at 2. Is it wrong that I am happy to be working Christmas?

Today I am waiting for the second boiler estimate and my annual boiler cleaning. I plan on lugging the boxes up from the basement to start decorating. I figured the house is clean so why not.

Hope everyone's day is calm

Jennifer, I am right there with you! What irritates me just as much is if I say dinner is at 2, and people show up late (especially if it's DH!!). I had a friend that would routinely show up over 1 hour late. No apologies, no call, nothing. I do not invite her anymore!

Ruth, hope you're feeling a little bit better today. Interesting that Canada has Black Friday as well. I think anyone that gets out shopping at 5 or 6 am is nuts.

Beth - I hope the grocery store is safe!

Today is our bigger meal, there will be 6 more people than yesterday. The turkey just went in the oven. I'm with Ruth - maybe they'll let me make some turkey noodle soup with the carcass?! The relatives are being great, they aren't letting me do anything . I LOVE making big fancy dinners, I hope and pray that next year I'll be able to do that again, but we'll see what's in the cards for me.

Then everyone will go target practice shooting again - welcome to the south! Even my kids enjoyed it, it's good for them to learn proper care and control vs. whatever tv and gaming shows them.

Funny, right now my brother in law is busy fixing the ceiling fan...that man just can't sit still!!

Jennifer, here it is

http://www.kalynskitchen.com/2009/11...ie-recipe.html

I don't use a crust; I chopped a few almonds and sprinkled them in the bottom of the dish. Also, yesterday I used greek yogurt instead of the sour cream.

And yes, family chaos can drive me nuts as well. Been there, done that.

Good morning, chicks. No leftovers from our event; I could have gone for some turkey something today. I'll be working and the store is providing us with sandwiches. Black Friday sale goes all weekend. Not sure how busy we'll be, and the roads are supposed to be icy today which might impact things. Probably will go out to dinner with DS tonight.

Have a great day.

Good morning,

I decided to wfh today since it is rainy outside and I don't feel like going to the crazy stores this morning. I will venture out this afternoon as DD1 needs dress slacks for a mock interview.

Yesterday was very quiet day, we had lunch at noon, then DS and GF left for their house and DD2 had to work last night so we just woke her up to eat and then she went back to bed. DH, DD2 and I went and saw Mockingjay part 2 last evening.

Ruth I hope you are feeling better today

Beth sounds like your dinner was a hit

Jekel there is always drama when there is a lot of family around. Last weekend was no exception for me

Tywnn glad you are enjoying yourself

Karen I hope it is not too crazy in the store for you today.

Have a wonderful day everyone!
