So...with that special day where family and friends gather around to massively stuff their faces with food, what is everyone planning on doing with their cooking/eating choices this year?
You CAN have everything that is offered, just take little portions. Don't beat yourself up and feel that you can't enjoy a slither of pumpkin pie. Portions, portions, portions. After the day is all said and done maybe go for a brisk walk or a bike ride. Don't deprive yourself but be mindful and enjoy the day!
I am already preparing myself! My game plan is to have a very small breakfast because I just can't skip a meal! And then just take small samplings of everything that is offered. I am going to try to limit myself to just one dessert as well. Then I will be in the gym Friday morning.
I dislike dessert, so we're good on that front. I'll keep my turkey and the veg sides, and call it a day. I hate the feeling of being full - it's the champagne flowing that does me in!
My plan is to exercise as usual Thanksgiving morning. I will skip breakfast and lunch and save my calories just for a nice dinner and desert. Dinner will not be an abundance of food either lol. I plan on eating just one plate of food and will not be taking home any leftovers. I also have a fast day planned for Friday lol
Lovemylife001, skipping breakfast and lunch along with exercise is going to be very hard on your body. You should at least have something for breakfast, no?
Kitiaraven lol, No, I do that now when I fast. I only eat dinner so I'm use to it. I fast this way once a week, but this week I'll being fasting twice. But thanks for the concern

You're absolutely right. Just told SO yesterday I have to break the pattern of a 1 day justification turning into weeks (because really, I know if I let myself go off the rails for TG -- then it will be through the w/e --- then pretty soon it'll be through holidays / New Year) and pretty soon, I'll have wasted another month + when I could have been getting traction *before* the New Year. I want to go INTO the NY feeling positive and on the right track, not coming off feeling like $^it!
I will focus on the turkey and veggies, mostly. I'm bringing desert so I can figure out about how many calories a serving is and go from there. It helps that my MiL is also dieting and after losing 30 pounds, she isn't likely to overdo it either.
I am cooking for just DH and I. I will be roasting the turkey breast in a Reynold's Brown In Bag, making stuffing from scratch with dried whole wheat bread, making my own sweet potato casserole made with sugar free maple syrup, butter and a little pepper. I have already made my sugar free cranberries using Splenda instead of sugar. Green bean casserole on the menu for DH, but I will be having baby peas. Gravy will be made with spelt flour. Looking forward to a healthier/lower cal. T-day dinner!
Today is gonna suck on my healthy eating. I've saved 1/2 my calories for dinner. Ate slimfast shake for breakfast and *gasp* a half a piece of pumpkin pie for lunch (That sucker cost me 140 calories!). Funny part is that I've been on the paleo diet for a week now. Minimal sugar and carbs. I normally LOVE pie, but I actually didn't WANT to eat the second half. It tasted sickeningly sweet. I've always gone for seconds and thirds of pie normally.
Game plan is to stick with turkey and veggies and MAYBE one slice of pie maybe apple?. Then excerise if possible afterwards to balance any excess calories until I'm even. wish me luck!
I was planning on not having a plan today and eating whatever I want and then getting back on plan tomorrow. However, plans change. My grandpa was sent to the hospital last night so my mom went to be with him since she doesn't like him being in the hospital alone (he has been in and out of the hospital a lot recently). Unfortunately, it's a 6 hour drive one-way. My grandpa is back in the nursing home this morning but my mom is going to stay until Saturday, just to make sure everything is okay (she doesn't trust the nursing home). The new plan is to have our Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday so that will be my no plan day. I might have to move my official weigh-in day to Tuesday or Wednesday instead of Monday morning. I already made out a menu for today to stay under my calories and I'm hoping to lose something this week. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I'm American but I live in England so Thanksgiving often sneaks up on me! Today I managed to make a nice dinner for my husband and children - plenty of stuff for me to eat as well. I didn't partake in the pumpkin and cherry pies, but I am not ready to enjoy a small serving of anything sugary without going off the rails entirely. I am fine with that - I don't want to end up eating sugar all the time again.
