Default Weekend Beachie Chat - October 17 & 18

A tad chilly in here this morning since some dotty old woman turned the furnace OFF instead of down last night. Pretty nippy in here at 7!

We did not get a killing frost but definitely will have one tonight when it goes down to 25F. Covering plants will not be enough so today I'll decide who wants to spend the winter in my sunny studio. I'm sure there will be lots of volunteers! I have two spider plants in my flower boxes that have really grown over the summer so I'll be looking for large pots out in the barn. Maybe the plant migration will inspire me to finish tidying that chaotic room.

I cooked a piece of salmon last night and have decided I just do NOT like fish very much. Seafood yes but not finny stuff. The rest of the salmon will become salmon salad sandwiches the next time I'm asked to make a loaf for an event. Now fish and chips is quite another thing!

Aside from plant migration, I'm not sure what the day will bring although I do need to do a financial report for Monday's Board meeting.

Another coffee is about to happen followed by some dog cuddling beside the stove in the cozy back room. Wish you were all here.

Good morning, Ruth! I wish you were HERE to join Leenie, Lauren, and me today. They should be here within the hour, and we're taking off for a day of shopping in Intercourse at Kitchen Kettle Village. I remember how well you liked that one quilt store, .

It's pretty chilly with a biting wind today, so I dressed appropriately and am wearing my comfy walking shoes!

How's everyone else spending this mid-October weekend?

Good morning

Same plan here Ruth. I've already been out and pulled the fall beans. Wow, could use gloves. It's so cold my fingers ached so I came in for a mug of tea. Our weather sounds like yours, no frost yet and now two nights in the 20s. There's no point covering at those temps.

I am gong to make time to bake, my favorite thing about cooler temps (well, that and soup season )

Time to get back out.

Good morning,

I have been up since 6 a.m. and the first thing I did was clean the bathroom, guess it was on my mind. One thing off the to do list today. I got laundry going and just finished breakfast and sipping on my tea.

It will be another cool day, I did break down and turn the furnace on but have it set at 65 it is still turning on occasionally.

Not sure what is on the agenda today other than cleaning and laundry.

Ruth brrr glad you have the stove to keep you warm until your furnace kicks in. I am with you with fishy tasting not a big fan but I do love shrimp and tuna and calamari so go figure

Cottage sounds like you have a fun outing planned for today.

Karen sorry to hear your procedure did not go well

Kim your kids are so adorable!!!

Hi Cyndi!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi, everyone! I don't know what was up with the kiddos, but they didn't get the memo that it was Saturday. We have been up for way too long already.

Not much on the agenda for me today. I need to get these kids to nap decently today so I can catch up on the housework. I would like the house to be as clean as possible when DH is able to come home. Our original plan was to head to the pumpkin patch, but I don't want DH to miss that, so we'll try again next weekend. I am hoping the fire will be contained by then and he can come home. I certainly respect all the single parents and parents whose partners are gone more regularly and/or long term.

Ruth: Enjoy your Saturday of plant shuffling. I'm sure we're quite a ways off from a killing frost, as a matter of fact, I'm still running our air conditioner all day long. Have a great day!

Linda: enjoy your shopping day! Sounds like a lovely time.

Cyndi: DD and I did a baking yesterday. Of course, it was not SB approved, but she wanted pumpkin
cookies and I obliged. I am just doing my best to stay away from them. I am so ready for soup season, too. I have planned for first big pot this week; chicken tortilla. I can't wait!!

Pearl: Why, thank you! I agree, of course, but I am quite biased. Yay for crossing things off the to-do list early. I am mulling over what to tackle after DS is done nursing.

Good morning!

We are at 45° right now and I just looked at the weather forecast and they're not predicting killing frost for this entire next week. It's pretty perplexing I say. I do have plants that still need to go in the ground. I put one in yesterday will do another one today. I took my friend down to Denver to meet up with the other friend yesterday and went to my meeting. Came home and took a long nap. We figured out that she could take a bus to get her halfway back up here so I drove 15 miles and picked her up around 730 last night. I plan another trip to take her down this morning wish that bus ran on the weekends. Will make another trip down tonight. Other than that, just taking it easy and remembering I do work tomorrow.

Have a great start to the weekend everyone!

Morning, chicks. Sitting here sipping coffee on a VERY chilly morning. It's been raining most of the night and I swear a couple of this morning's raindrops were white. DH turned on the furnace for a bit just now to take off the chill.

Today we will go see DS1 play hockey with the college team. Might be more comfortable in the rink than outside: at least it's dry.

Ruth
, I'm wishy washy on salmon but like most other fish.
Cottage, enjoy your shopping.
Cyndi, didn't your mom teach you to dress for the weather?
Pearlrose, hope you have a good day.

I need to get in the shower and get organized to go. Have a great day, chicks!

Good morning chicks!

Ladies, you're right, it is getting nippy out there and everything is closing down for the winter. When did that happen!? Linda, I sure hope (and know) you enjoy your day with the ladies today, we expect a full report!

My DH was offered some men's hockey tickets (free!), so we have a hockey date today . I get a little obnoxious at those games, they're so much fun!!

Enjoy the fall day!

So silly! Been awake since before 4 and finally got up. It's a chilly 27 out there this morning. I guess the geraniums that I forgot to bring in yesterday will be toast.

Not sure what the day will bring but I do have two giant spider plants to pot up for winter. I planted two wee ones in my front flowerbox and they are now huge!

More coffee, anyone?

I'm ready for my second cup, Ruthie, thanks!

Brrrrr, we maybe should have turned on the heat overnight. It's a mite chilly in the house this morning. Right now it's 36* outside, but the Feel Temp is 29*. I haven't looked out yet to see how my flower beds fared.

I had a terrific time yesterday with my good friends, and we did a lot of shopping and chatting over a long lunch break. I'm so glad they live close enough that we can get together occasionally.

This morning is early Mass, then I have to get the turkey in the oven when I get home. It's all ready, so all I'll have to do is shove it in. I'm mainly cooking it so we'll have room in the freezer for the Thanksgiving turkey. I made pumpkin pie squares when I got home last night, so dessert is all set. I'll have a baked sweet potato and some veggies, but I will save room for a small piece of dessert.

OK, it's light enough outside that I can look out and survey the damage. Have a super Sunday!
