Hey, we're halfway through October already! How'd that happen?
Karen, I pray your biopsy went smoothly yesterday and all is well.
It's going to be one of those perfect Fall days here today, and I'm going to take my dad for a ride through the country roads up to Hershey so he can enjoy the leaf show. We're planning to have lunch at restaurant that Tammy and I really enjoyed before heading back home again. Dad is really excited and looking forward to getting out for a long drive, and I am, too.
We're expecting a killing frost this weekend, so I picked another batch of peppers and sliced up most of them to freeze, and put aside 10 of the large ones. I made a mixture of ground beef and hot Italian sausage to stuff them with, and have them all ready to pop in the oven when I get home this afternoon. Jake will have one for his supper, and I'll freeze the rest so he can have some easy meals handy.
Well, I'd better finish this and finish my coffee and get some housework done before I take off today.
You're so good with all that prepping, Linda! Enjoy your drive, and the lunch especially. I remember taking a taste of your onion soup, with all that luscious cheese on it....Yum!!
I get to see the chiro this AM (she doesn't touch my neck, LOL), and am meeting a new PT this afternoon. I'm hoping since they're with a certified spinal cord injury rehab center, maybe they'll deal with me in a different way and have some better success. Which is funny, since my last PT was the coordinator there and was the one that told me about it! That'll be enough for the day! We had Kalyn's red beans and rice for dinner last night, which was just delicious on these cool nights....and leftovers tonight!!
BTW - you're right Linda, when did the middle of October get here?! I can't believe it!
Good morning from wet and windy Delta. Winter is definitely in the air with frost expected tomorrow. Geese are flying and my car is getting polka-dotted. It's not as bad as in the spring. That's what happens when you live between two lakes and on the fly-way.
Our Christmas planning meeting went well yesterday. I have a few things to get prepped for decorating the Mill and Hall but we won't put anything in place until after Remembrance Day. Today, I am going to bundle up and cut the grapevines out of a lovely spruce tree on the property that has Christmas lights UNDER the vines. Now's a good time to do it because the leaves are red and I won't cut the wires. It'll be one of those "grit your teeth and get on with it" jobs.
Not sure yet what today will bring but need to resolve an accounting problem with the bookkeeper and also track down a missing police check for one of my TPOC dog volunteers. I'd much rather join Linda and her Dad for that drive to Hershey. (I've never been to Hershey, PA but did visit the Hershey plant in Smith's Falls many times. I swear the smell is caloric!)
Raising my mug to salute you and wish a Fabulous Friday.
Linda, LOL! I think when I reviewed the menu a few weeks ago bringing my DH down there, I spotted the onion soup, and must've remembered that instead. Doesn't matter with the cheese anyway
Good morning, quick fly by as I have a Thanksgiving parade meeting before work with the Long Island Railroad. Have a great day. Tammy hope it goes today
Tammy: good luck at the chiro today. I hope it's the beginning of some very positive healing for you!
Linda: you are definitely making me miss my garden. That's one of the downsides to being where we are, we don't have a yard to plant a garden in. Wish I could share in your harvest, fresh peppers right now sound lovely!
Ruth: sounds like a day of hard labor for you! Your homestead has always sounded so idyllic to me, and hubby would be in heaven with all those geese flying through!
Its just me and the kiddos today, as DH got called away to fight a wild fire in Central Texas yesterday. I'm hoping he'll be back tomorrow, but he packed to be gone through Monday, the 26th. I hope for DD's sake it's not that long. She had a really rough day at school yesterday knowing that he wasn't going to be home after work. The other challenge for me is staying on track while he's gone. With the household, my job, and the two kiddos to take care of on my own, I tend to fall back an easy to prepare, processed foods, and that's something I really don't want to do this time around.
Well, duty calls! Off to get coffee, breakfast for the kids and myself, and a load of laundry started. Hope everyone has a great day!
I've been busy - had fasting cholesterol bloodwork done and a flu shot. Will pick up my brother and SIL from the airport soon. They are in town until Monday to celebrate my mom's birthday.
Biopsy didn't go very well. I was there for 4 hours. Long story. Ends with - they didn't get cells from the suspicious area and need to repeat with new technology in a couple of weeks! I'm sorer than I expected, but they hit a vessel and I have a hematoma too. Anyhow, I decided to make an appointment to see a doctor a different facility for a second opinion. Everyone yesterday was so compassionate and kind, but I'm not sure I want to give them another chance.
Karen, so sorry that the procedure went so poorly. Hope you can heal up and get a complete second opinion soon!!
Also, I figured out that I can't post photos from my phone, but I can from my laptop. So, here are the kiddos in June at home, and their school picture in September.
Kim, oh my goodness, what adorable children! I know you must be so proud of your precious gifts!
Karen, that's a shame about your experience yesterday. I hope the re-do goes a lot smoother.
Tammy, I had the soup again today, and it was still just as good!
The drive up to Hershey was simply gorgeous, we couldn't have picked a nicer day to enjoy the foliage, which was just starting to peak. Further east, our way, the leaves are just starting to turn. I know my dad really enjoyed the drive through the countryside, and reminisced about the places he and mom used to stop at along the way.
