Default Ack! Haven't wanted to eat junk for nearly 4 months... and then...

today I'm so terribly tempted.

1. I'm stressed with way too much on my plate - and not food, but WORK!
2. My monthly visitor is due any minute.
3. Diet fatigue?
4. Lack of sleep recently.

I'm not a person who can do cheat days. Cheat days are a way to derail as I have to keep my carb count down or else I go into a tailspin.

ACK!!! Just trying to make it through today. I can celebrate with ice cream if I make it through, right? No...wrong!!!!

Grab the almonds! The string cheese, take a walk. I hear you on those pesky carbs that we have turned to in the past when all of these items hit for the perfect storm. Stay strong lady! You can avoid those, just keep busy and find a good outlet for the day. I always preferred a good swim, but I don't have that at my disposal anymore.

Berry, I know how you feel. But, we have to realize that we need to try to eat this way the rest of our lives. It will be a constant battle but truly worth it. Keep your eye on the ball. You want to wear those smaller clothes in your closet, be able to breathe when you bend over to tie your shoe, sit in a restaurant booth with room to spare between you and the table, go shopping without having to sit after a few steps, etc, etc, etc...

I finally caved somewhat. I ate a small bowl of my son's mac and cheese. I was still within calories for the day, just higher than normal carb count.

But, the craving went away and yesterday I was back to normal, even less hungry than normal and no weird cravings.

It is a lifelong struggle and I will have days that are tough... but learning to have things in moderation to deal with those cravings are a skill I need to acquire too.

The most important skill, for most of us. I think that when a craving hits, being able to eat a small cookie and then STOP is just as valuable a strength (for me at least) as being able to avoid them altogether.

I'm at the point in my diet where I want to make allowances for social events. Which are the worst! Buffet, restaurants, people's homes! I HATE saying "No" to other people's food! At least at home I could conceivably padlock the cabinets LOL!

I don't do carb day either...I think it would ruin everything I was working towards in my lifestyle change. So instead of totally depriving myself, which would inevitably lead to disaster think, I work my fixes into dinner on days where I've I had super low carbs for breakfast and lunch.

I always allow myself pasta now about once a week or two. Sometimes it goes longer between fixes. I used to go crazy and overeat...I love pesto and cream sauces now, I fix mine and hubs plate ...mine is always half the portion of hubs but still enough. Then I put the leftovers away before I sit down to eat. It helps deter me from going back for seconds. And I swear by organic pasta.....it's only a little more $$ than ordinary if u get at Aldi or Costco. Spending on what I'm making, I add more veggies than I used to as well.

Sorry to ramble, but it has worked for me.

Good for you. Honestly, having a small bowl of mac and cheese and stopping is a victory. I tend to let the whole day go out the window after the tiniest of slip ups.
