Thankful Thursday beach chat, September 3

  • Good morning!

    Happy Thursday! Coffee's ready!
  • Today, as always, I am thankful for you all! Thankful for my critters give me unconditional love and bring me endless joy. I'm thankful I can start a new with my wonderful food plan today because yesterday was kind of a holiday. LOL

This morning where we are up early getting ready to go to a doctor appointment. My DH has finally decided on his own that he needs to have his shoulder looked at so that a doctor can make the decision as to what is wrong and if it needs surgery, Which is a probably yes. When I made the call yesterday she could see us in Aspen early this morning or somewhere down valley in 10 to 15 days. I'm glad that he decided that we go today. So, we're going to load the pups in the car and hit the road at 6:30. There is a huge rush hour to aspirin every day and we want to make sure we get there on time. We are going to a meeting after that and then probably to the pool. I'm planning a naptime, too!

What's everybody up to today, join us and say hello!
  • Welcome to foxyroxy! This is a great spot for Support staying on track long term! I hope you join Daily!
  • Good morning Debbie - hope the appointment goes well, traffic is smooth, and you get some answers!

Been a bit of an emotional week here - good thing I don't eat with stress now! Tuesday I saw a new neurologist in Pittsburgh (a 3 hour drive...), and she ordered another MRI for me since I'm getting worse. I'm hoping we get some sort of answers in the next few weeks, but often people do not.

And today I will say good bye to my crazy bipolar tortie cat. DH and I found her when we were engaged, she was the ugliest nastiest looking little kitten, but sure cleaned up pretty . She has an abdominal tumor that's bigger than an orange now, but like all good torties, has been quite the trooper. I think she misses her boyfriend Merlin, that I put down in March.

DD has a crazy schedule tonight, so that will help me take my mind off things. LOL...I was going to say that I'll have a glass of wine tonight, but the new doc put me on valium as a muscle relaxant. Guess the wine will have to wait!
  • Thanks, Debbie. I poured my mug before I fed the dogs and it's a good way to start the day!

Dinner up the Hill was fun. Moel did great pork skewers with peppers and onions and a massive tomato salad! He built a fire on the rock and grilled on the coals. A great evening with friends and the mosquitoes left us alone. Lots to be thankful for!

Paul will be back this morning to do a bit of paint touchup and also finish the barn door project. The doors now open OUT which seems to give me lots more space inside the building. When the cooler weather arrives I will do a purge out there - it's way too easy to just say "Just put it in the barn"!!!

Nothing on the calendar today and I am going to try very hard to avoid the Mill. I do have tax receipts to do and mail but am going to set the timer for one hour and do as many as possible. "Gotta git 'er done."

Time to do the trash trudge - "it's gonna be a bright, bright, bright sunshiny day!" There's an ear-worm for us.
  • Good morning!

Debbie, I'm thankful that your DH decided to see about his shoulder and hope for encouraging news!

Tammy, I'm thankful that your new doctor wants to start off fresh with your treatment and am hopeful that something will finally help. May your tortie have a peaceful journey to The Rainbow Bridge and leave you with lots of happy memories.

Ruth, I'm thankful that you enjoyed a pleasant evening with your good friends last night and that the skeeters didn't bother you. I hope you get your niggles all done today.

I'm thankful that it's Thursday! I made myself a 4pm hairdresser appt. and told Cindy I had to leave today at 3:30. I've been working late all week, so I don't feel guilty about leaving early today. The girls don't have anything planned except riding after school, anyway. And then I have a 4-day weekend to look forward to!!!
  • Good morning,

Yesterday went well and got everything done. Tonight DD2 has soccer practice and I think I will walk for a bit during that time even though it will be super hot out there.

I need to start packing tonight as well since we leave tomorrow after work for Texas.

Debbie glad you all were able to get in to see the doctor so quickly

Tywnn hope you get some answers that help you...sorry to hear about you having to say goodbye to your cat :hugs:

Ruth glad you had a good time and no bug bites that is great

Cottage that's awesome that you have a 4 day weekend.

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Thanks for the Welcome!
    Hello All
Just wanted to say good luck to everyone today before I head out for my workout. Today is very muggy but I thought ahead and froze my water so it would remain cold while I'm out there. I've had my coffee so I'm good to go! I'll let you know how it goes later.
    Cheers, FR
  • Good morning.

Debbie - Hope the appointment goes well today.

Tammy - Sorry about your cat and that you are not improving. I hope you get answers soon.

Ruth - I need a barn for stuff!

Linda - Woo hoo for long weekends.

    Rose - Keep cool.

    foxyroxy -

I was so glad to have a day off work yesterday. I'm worn out and so tired that I went back to bed after breakfast. I feel more rested today but that won't last because I work a long, late shift today/tonight. This new store is larger than my old one and we get out later when we work the closing shift. And it is hard to unwind and get to sleep after. I work long shifts again tomorrow and Saturday. Was scheduled for Sunday (despite having asked for for the day off) but finally managed to find someone to take that shift.

My eating has been horrible and I feel the effects. Yesterday I finally got back on track. It is hard to figure out what to bring to eat for the new job since the breaks are odd. But I've done some shopping so that I can eat better there too - no more of the junk they have around for us to snack on while setting up the store!!!

    Have a great day.
  • Hello again
I hope everyone's day progressed well. Woo-hoo to those of us who manage to break barriers or stay the course. I actually got the 2 workouts in that I wanted today. I'm a little worse for wear but glad I did it because now I know I can. Celebrated with a bbq burger using portobellos as the bun. It was so good I think I might do that from now on I still have cravings but I'm curbing that need for "crunch" with celery and hummus. I know right?! But I truly do love celery. It's such a clean and crisp vegetable. I could eat it everyday...yummy Ok, onto to day 4.
    Cheers, FR
  • Evening, ladies.

I'm thankful to get the first day of school out of the way, and then I also have the long weekend.
Also for the chicks here that have helped me learn a new way to eat, and for the ever-awesome TACOBAKE that I had for dinner tonight!!

    Welcome, foxyroxy!

Time to relax and do some reading.
  • I am still not fully adjusted to regular work days while the garden is still producing. DH made dinner, so a bit of a break tonight. I'm also not coming home with a headache anymore, so I guess I'm used to the noise, at least a bit.

I am thankful for good insurance again. My dermatologist is sending me to the specialist so I can get this whole annoying skin cancer thing behind me. Hopefully I can schedule the surgery right before the holiday break, so time to heal without kiddos.

Meanwhile my eating is staying on plan thanks to lots of local fruits and garden veggies for snack. The perfect hot weather lunch seems t be plain Greek yogurt with a little good vanilla and cinnamon, a chopped up peach, and chia.

Now off to bed in search of the mystical 8 hours.
