Default Warm Wednesday August 19

As expected, we are still in heat warning. My electricity bill is going to be a shocker this month as the AC has been running every day! The dogs go outside just as long as it takes to do their thing and then want back indoors.

I did venture out to the back garden yesterday afternoon and discovered some cherry tomatoes were ripe and that three eggplants are on the way to being ripe. I also have another massive growth of basil - time to make more pesto. Before the heat starts blasting away, I'll get out there and water.

Today is the dreaded dental appointment to replace those fillings. It'll be a long afternoon and an expensive one as I have no dental insurance. I'd much rather sit on the front porch and do hand sewing of a quilt binding but I will just put on my Big Girl Panties and go through with the procedure. There are times when I hate being a grown-up!

I wish you some cool breezes as you trudge over the Hump today!

Ugh, I hope your dental appointment isn't too awful, Ruth, and that the bill isn't, either!

We have the 3 H's here again today - hot, hazy, & humid. I spent most of yesterday indoors, and when I did venture out, it almost took my breathe away. Hopefully, it will start cooling off for the weekend. The kids don't seem to mind it too much, though.

We picked peppers after the sun went down yesterday, and now I have a basket of red, yellow, and green peppers sitting on my counter waiting for me to deal with. I'll saute some up for supper tonight, and freeze the rest for now. There will be another bushel to pick in a few more days.

Good morning!

thanks for getting us started, Ruth! I hope your day passes quickly! All that heat and the dentist doesn't make for a lot of fun. Neat that you have right cherry tomatoes and a plant!

Linda, nice hall on the papers! Hope you can stay indoors today!

It's pretty cool outside here this morning. I'm thinking it didn't rain last night though so I may get a little working on my greenhouse. This is the time of the year that I start to slack off on my weeds and they seem to be getting a second wind. I may try some weed digging, as well. Maybe down to Denver for a noon meeting to check in with some friends, too.

Sandy, I always come back and read later in the day. I'm always glad to see your post even though you don't get here early! I think that the daily checking in is my strongest asset towards continuing on my food plan and weight loss.

Happy Wednesday everyone! I'm going to sit in the dark and enjoy my coffee!

Morning ladies.
Ruth, did you get any storms yesterday? We had a pretty intense one around 7 pm or so. But yes, more hot and humid today. Good luck with the dentist.

Cottage, my peppers never do very well. They get green but run out of time to get red or yellow. I think next year I might fill their spot with beans instead.

Debbie, coffee in the dark sounds pleasant.

Today I am also putting in my Big Girl Pants and going to work in my classroom. The first work day is always just rearranging furniture, unpacking supplies and setting up my computer. It is always a jumble since they empty everything into the hallway to wax the floors over the summer.

So I guess I should shower and get my coffee. Happy Hump Day, chicks.

Good morning Ruth I think you are having a similar procedure to mine. Hope everything goes well. Fortunately I have dental insurance, but it covers about half hopefully. The dentist told me I need to stay away from gum and sticky foods. My bite has always been off, but now I really need to be good to my teeth.

Debbie good luck with the weeds. Mine are winning this year. At least sine of them bloom lol.

Linda enjoy your peppers. I have some in the fridge to cut up for snacks.

Sandy I hope your back stops itching, that must be annoying.

I got my hair chopped yesterday before work. My hair was long, past my shoulder blades. Not it is just barely touching my shoulders. I have just enough hair to put in a low bun for work.

My boss is off all week so I am covering some of his hours which doesn't leave me too much down time this week. Guess I better start moving....albeit slowly with this weather.

Have a great day!

Hi Beth you snuck in on me. Do you have help setting up your classroom? My buddy John and their sons help set up his wife's classroom

Jennifer, glad you got to fit a haircut in. It sounds like you have a pretty busy week going. Take care with the heat!

Beth, best wishes getting your classroom organized!

It's getting late and I'm back out on the porch with another cup of coffee. Sadly, it's 39° this morning. Ouch! I refilled the hummingbird feeder but it was super quiet this morning. Fortunately, I hear some little hammer starting to fly around. They must've slept in with the cold.

Good morning, up and showered but need my cup of coffee!

Jennifer, doing your job and your boss's will be a tense day, i bet. How does it fee to have your hair shorter? Do you miss the length? Yes, my back itches!!!! Today with full massage, she will be careful, she is also a RN but sometimes the rubbing there tames the itch.

Beth That storm hit us Monday night and really was a hard one. Some of my flowers look beat up.

Debbie, thanks for encouragement. Yesterday was definitely one that felt as if I were 6 feet below ground. Good night's sleep has me in much better mood. Cold? How cold is it there?

Cottage, have you tried those saute peppers with scrambled eggs? That will be our breakfast this morning. Love that they are so fresh from garden.

Ruth: May you be able to open your mount wide enough later to have another cup of coffee. Sorry for the double hit, mouth and bank account.

Good morning,

This morning has been a whirlwind of rush rush rush I woke up late to my alarm silently going off, I had put the ringer on silent for a conference call and forgot to switch it back on.

Ran to get ready for work as I have a day long meeting so have to go in.

Getting ready to head over for the meeting but wanted to stop in and say Hi.

Have a great day everyone
