Tuesday South Beach diet chat, August 4

  • Good morning!

I work early and it's already proving to be an interesting day. My co waitress started texting me at 3:30 saying she was on the way to the hospital. With her, sometimes this means had too much fun last night and no way She can work today. I don't know. And I am, however, already preparing myself for the high possibility that I will have to work for her tomorrow. Oh well. Drama. Glad today that it is not mine.

So I already have the trash held out to the corner and will make my smoothie soon. Preparing myself for a challenging day.

    Happy Tuesday everyone!
  • Oh, Debbie, what a way to start your Tuesday! Hope things aren't too crazy. Can you get someone to fill in if she doesn't show?

I woke up to the sound of rain falling. Guess there will be no early morning gardening. Of course, yesterday I was sure it was going to rain so I "just went out for a minute" and managed to get in 2 hours. I do need to run to the grocery store so I can do that during the rain showers. Oh, and there's that indoor cleaning I didn't do yesterday.

Now that August is here it seems time is flying by and it will soon be fall. I need to make my master list of garden chores to keep me focused.

    But first, coffee...
  • Good morning, Beth! What a great idea to get a master gardening list going now. I think I'll do that, too! Yes, time is flying by fast. There is only one other person who can fill in today and I'm sure she will. However, it's not my responsibility to make that happen. Either the boss or my coworker can contact her. LOL
  • Drama! Not a good start to the day. I hope things calm down for you, Debbie.

My day is supposed to be completely in my control but I will have to work on it to keep it that way. We have a Federal Election looming in October and I have already received two email requests to work on two different campaigns. The answer is a resounding NO! I have also unfriended a couple of FB friends who have started to do only political posts.

I had a nice relaxing long weekend with the NJ chicks and am looking forward to a 50th wedding anniversary family party this Saturday. My DIL's sister has a gorgeous house down on the St Lawrence and we are meeting there for the afternoon. It'll be nice to see the "outlaw"branch of the family, particularly the kids.

My raised bed is loaded with green and yellow beans - finally. I went for coffee yesterday morning and offered some to a neighbour. As soon as I got home it rained - you can't pick beans in the rain as it causes rust so I had to renege on the offer. It mat be dry enough later today as I see the sun peeping out. (We have had rain every day since Thursday night which has cooled things down so it can stop now!)

Time to tackle Tuesday. My only "must do" stuff today is a bank run and to make an appointment for Millie's shots. It's nice to see some blank days on my calendar and I'm hoping to keep it that way for a while.
  • Good morning

Debbie I hope you don't have to work the extra shift. At least drama queens are entertaining at times. Makes you appreciate not having a dramatic life

Ruth good for you saying no! I too have u friended on FB. For me it is the constant police bashing posts. I un-friended my own nephew. That one really bothered me. I didn't even grace his opinion with mine, just hit delete lol

Beth sounds like you have your gardening under control. I don't remember planting so many weeds this year. Thankfully they are thriving lol.

Today I am sort of working. Going to the Segway demonstration then to drop off my loaner work car and get my new work wheels. later picking up the rental car, finish packing. Having dinner with Joe. I'll check in when I can. Hopefully I will be on the road between 5 and 6. I've got 8 hours of driving to do.

Oh I found the cure to stop binge eating.....the dentist lol....A routine check up ended up with 4 crowns next week to repair old damaged fillings (from child hood) a cracked tooth (who knew) and a hole in a molar (apparently the nerve is dead in that tooth already) I had to prepay $3900 yikes!!!!! Thankfully they will submit to my insurance. I "should" be reimbursed $2300. Well at least I will get some points on my credit card for Christmas shopping. I also need to see a periodontist for two gum grafts. i may hold off on that until January and up my flex spending to cover it....oh well
  • Good morning,

Nice to be back in normal routine, almost have everthing back in order at the house. We did put together the girls new loft bed on Sunday, it took 8 hours to put the beast together, it is solid wood, looks great though.

For some reason the trash collectors did not pick up our trash yesterday, everyone else's trash was picked not sure how they missed ours.

The rest of this week is wfh, today I have my pre op colonoscopy appointment, I am assuming they will schedule the actual procedure today.

Debbie not a good way to start your day but your right just have to go with the flow for things we cannot control

Beth this summer is just flying by, I have to register DD2 for school either today or tomorrow they start on the 17th of this month. The fees went up again to register her

Ruth hope you are able to keep your calender free. Hope it stops raining for you. It rained almost the entire time we were in Florida, we had to buy rain ponchos so we weren't drowned rats

Jekel man that stinks, I am always afraid when we go to the dentist to see what each of us needs done. Knock on wood, I have not had any work done in years other than routine check ups but my next appointment is Friday.

Hope everyone has a great day!
  • A quick check-in and "hi" from me! I've been reading your posts and will post more when I get home.
Meanwhile, having fun and seeing the sights!
  • second try fly by. I had two interviews today, then a friend came over for a wine night so I'm just getting online now.

    See you in the morning
