Ok so I can't be the only person who has a history of injuries. I suppose lucky for me, even at 304lbs my injuries have not been weight induced. However the recovery period takes a little longer than someone half my size.
I have this left leg, that I feel needs swapped for a good one. Some of you may have read about some of its stories before, but for those who havnt here is a recap.
A little long but bare with me.....
>>>> 1997: 8 yrs old...Caught my shoe lace on my bike chain. It twisted up and I crushed my LEFT ankle between the bike and the sidewalk.
>>>> Febuary 2006: Was 17, was drunk, fell over the sidewalk, badly injured my LEFT ankle. Stayed drunk all week, went over on it again 4 days later.
>>>>17th March 2013 (Yes St Patricks Day): Fell on a wet dancefloor and badly damaged/over stretched (possibly tore) the ligament that runs under my LEFT knee cap. Mostly fixed but is still sore if I press it.... I know weird for 2 years later.
>>>> August 2014: Crushed the cartilage in my LEFT foot jumping from a pier into a lake in the Hudson Valley NY.
>>>> June 2015: Jolted my LEFT ankle on uneven grass, heard eye watering crunch, suspected hairline fracture.
Soooooo.... I am sure you can imagine that for this accident prone gal doing normal matt type strength exercises like squats and really anything that involves bending my knees can be pretty painful and awkward.
I can Plank but not for very long before I get bad pains in my ankle.
I can do most lie down and legs in the air type stuff
But I really need somthing that might help me trim the thighs without using the knees? Is that possible?
I have been trying to get a hold of these elastic straps that are usually helpful in strengthing injuries but I cant seem to find them cheap.
ANY floor type exercise that you think might help will be really useful.
I don't know how helpful this info will be, but when my DH was in a leg cast and couldn't use his knee, they advised him to work on tension exercises to try to help the muscles in his legs, just tensing and holding the thigh muscles and releasing. Perhaps someone in the exercise section of the forum could give you some better answers. You might ask there. Good luck!
