Default OMG got to get rid of mid-40s belly

So I've finally faced the fact that at 43 my metabolism has slowed. This morning I got the tape measure out and found that my waist in inches was the same as my age. My size 16 trousers are very tight. I don't want the expense of a whole new wardrobe so am doing something about this now.

I stopped eating bread 6 weeks ago but it's not enough. So I'm aiming for a low carb diet, with the support of my husband (who is stick thin, annoyingly).

I even went for a run!!

This seems like a great place for support. Wish me luck!

Hi and welcome
I'm relatively new and from the UK too - there is a UK section on here if you fancy popping in.

I can relate on the tight clothes though mine are somewhat larger these days, I have lots of smaller clothes to fit back into. *blush*.

Hope you get on well and look forward to seeing you around. There are lots of challenges that will help keep you motivated.

Thanks! This weight gain has crept up on me, as I don't have scales in the house and I've just been in denial. But I felt good after my run (well, brisk walk with jog) and it only took 15 minutes. I can easily fit that in every day. Hope I can build it up.

Well done you on your exercise. Have you heard of the Couch to 5k phone apps? they give you run / walk transitions you can have on headphones as you go. I've done the plan before and did a couple of race for life events.

I have seen my weight creep up over the last few years, medication and not watching what I'm eating is responsible. I added exercise but didn't address my eating - so at the moment am concentrating on my eating. Work has me walking / standing for my shifts. My feet ACHE and am hoping it helps losing some lbs as I go along. I joined slimming world on Tuesday so my journey is still in the making.
