Default Tuesday Clucking - May 5

Definitely spring around here! The whole world seems yellow! We have masses of forsythia in full bloom, dandelions in lawns and daffodils almost everywhere. The Township of Rideau Lakes has now been declared the Daffodil Township by the government of Ontario. The daffodils planted years ago at our old Church got the movement started.

Yesterday was crazy busy with Quilting in the morning and our final job interview almost all afternoon. My poor furries were lonesome although I did pop in to check on them just after noon. The yard is still water and mud but they spent most of their time loafing in the sun on the deck. We had a very warm day and a thunderstorm just at 6 PM. I ended up with all three of them on my lap when the first boom happened. Milo is nervous in storms and the other two joined the party. Good thing they are fairly small.

There is nothing officially on the schedule today and I can't even go to the Office because I have "mislaid" my key. I may head for Brockville and see what the garden centres have to offer. The ground got a good soaking overnight and will be too wet to work today. I could do some herbs in a planter on the deck - in view from the kitchen window as a reminder to pick them.

I also need to make some sort of fancy hat since we are having a Victorian Tea in the Town Hall on Saturday, hosted by Mrs Denaut, wife of Walter Denaut who was the miller in 1865. I am Mrs D. and need to do a bit more research. Luckily, I played her years ago when we did some vignettes in the Mill.

Have a great day.

Good morning!

Enjoy your day, Ruth, and thanks for getting us started!

It's my early day at work and so I've already been cranking hard. My smoothie is made. I just need to get dressed and am allowing maximum time for coffee.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, Ruth and chicks to come!

We also received some badly needed rain last night and I am expecting the leaves to really pop today when it warms up. Did I mention I love spring??

Jennifer, I think I need to have that talk with myself as well. I also think I need to measure portions and STAY AWAY from the nuts. I cannot snack on them without having a triple portion.

Debbie, coffee is always a high priority for me. I was thinking yesterday I need to come up with the right flavor combination to make a good iced coffee. Those little overpriced bottles of Starbucks at the grocery store tempt me from time to time, although reading the label stops me from actually indulging.

Ok, I need to get a move on. Have a great day everyone!

Ruth Your life is so colorful. I truly enjoy reading about your and everyone else's happenings. Spring is here too and I love seeing my garden start to sprout. I leave Saturday and don't know if I will have time before to add some annuals.

Whoo hoo I am off until May 17th!!! I decided I needed a mental health day and took an extra day of leave. Going to ride and then do some weeding before the rain comes in. Joe is coming for dinner, but I plan on keeping it simple and ordering in. If I am motivated I am going to lug the patio furniture up from the basement. My pressure washer is with Joe's friend hopefully he can fix it while I am gone as I would love to pressure wash the house and garage.

I started a modified P1 on May 1. It is really motivating seeing 6 pounds lost!!! I know it is mostly water, but I'll take it!!! Made me realize (again) how poorly I was eating. The funny thing is I am great until I get home in the evening. Since I know me pretty well and I know how I love to snack, I am permitting myself to have pop corn. So far it seems to be working.

Time for a refill who's in?

Good morning everyone!

Ruth, the Victorian Tea sounds fun! Too bad you're not a little closer or I could lend you one of my fancy Red Hats. Have a nice time browsing the plant nurseries, and try not to go overboard!

Hi Beth & Debbie!

We're enjoying a heat wave here but could surely use some rain. There's a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and I hope we get them. My chiropractor appointment went well yesterday, but it was mostly for an examination and orientation. He said my pelvis is out of alignment and sent me for Xrays and I see him again tomorrow. He seems very thorough and I have high hopes that he can get me straightened out.
I'm hoping I don't get home too late this evening, as I'd like to go out with my family to a Cinco de Mayo celebration at our local Mexican restaurant. They make some wonderful grilled fish tacos!
