Default First Glorious May Weekend - Saturday and Sunday

Good morning. Had a bad night of restless sleep but am glad to be up to sit on the deck, sip coffee and enjoy the sunrise. The birds are singing their version of "Ode to Joy". By the way, the geese may have changed their route in the morning because I've not had one polka-dot on my car!

Today is mine and I may use it to go to town and hit a garden centre for some new gardening gloves (yearly treat) and some fertilizer for my raised bed. I may also clean up some of the asparagus bed so I can see the yummy spears when they come up. We have lots of greenage, spring peepers and those pesky black flies - probably because of the flooding in the dogyard.

Tomorrow my neighbour up the hill and her family go to Cuba for a week and Milo comes to stay. He is a Jack Russell and long-haired datshund cross and really cute and well-behaved. He adores Millie and he and Jazz get along the way guys do. The yard is not quite as muddy as it was last weekend when Joey was here and Milo's muddy paws will be a lot smaller.

So what's on your agenda this fine weekend? I hope there's some fun stuff happening ... if not, make some!

Good morning! It's a mite chilly yet for me to take my coffee outside, but we've been promised the day will warm up. I'm looking forward to basking in the sunshine and enjoying a glass or two of wine this afternoon.

We haven't discussed any plans for the day, but I do want to finally change out my wardrobe and pack all the winter clothes away. I'll have to get Jake to help me with that since I can't do any lifting, but otherwise, I'm managing just fine. I will be glad to get to the doctor on Monday, though, so I can finally get back to normal.

Enjoy this beautiful weekend!

Good morning Today is Green Up Day in Vermont, so I am meeting some neighbors soon to clean-up our neighborhood. I will, of course, bring binoculars to look for birds After that I've got a new garden bed to put in, seeds to plant, laundry, etc.

Can't remember if I mentioned it, but we got the final word on working out the end of our contract. I have to go north Thursday to help clean out the office, and I have a few desk tasks to finish up and some First Books to get out. Other than that I am done, and after Thursday I am really done. We have no campaign responsibilities between 5/7-6/5, so basically a severance package. It was unexpected and very, very, welcome. I plan to spend the summer working on the garden, putting food up, doing some of the things I've wanted to do since we moved in but haven't had time, and having playdates with my GS. In the fall I will get serious about a job hunt.

Ruth - I want to put an asparagus bed in this year. Any hints?

Cottage - I am still putting the heat on for an hour each morning. I might not if the stove wasn't full of pellets, but the cats, dog, and I appreciate it

Okay, time to get to it.

Ruth - I think the geese detoured to my house, my car got really bombed the other day! My DD keeps telling me I need to wash my car....

Cottage - hope the doc makes you feel better, take it easy until then!

Cyndi - sounds like a luscious summer!

I'm sitting in a hotel in IL, the rest of the family is still sleeping, lucky dogs. Today is my brother's memorial, and then we head home. I'm grateful I have several friends from high school/other that are coming in today, hopefully they'll help me keep it together . Or not.

Good morning! Sitting here sipping my coffee inside (a bit chilly outside; I must not be a hardy Canadian like you Ruth!) while I enjoy the sunshine. May and June are my favorite months!

Today I need to clean inside this morning; it really needs it since I was away last weekend and did zilch. This afternoon I am hoping to go out and do that garden soil fluffing that Ruth mentioned. I also need to check the instructions on my bulb fertilizer; apply during or after bloom?

Cottage, I will join you in a glass of wine this evening! I also have some winter things to pack away, I picked up some new space bags to store my fleece sheets. They are a bit bulky otherwise.

Cyndi, have a wonderful day outside! Our last house (former farm) had a huge asparagus bed that I really miss. And it seems that the job situation may have worked out for the best.

Thinking of you today, Tammy.

Anyone need more coffee?

Good morning.

Jennifer - thanks for the bike info! Shifting has sure changed in 20+ years. Fit is interesting because seems that my old one puts me closer to the handlebars and not leaning down as much. Not sure I can be comfortable more stretched out and leaning. One guy did mention swapping out the stem, I think. Big decision.

I'm working today then packing. My big dilemma is that the outfit I picked out for the funeral might be rather hot now that the weather forecast is for almost 80! My mom and I fly out tomorrow morning.

Have a great weekend.

Well I was wearing a fleecy robe and slippers - chilly but beautiful.

I have already washed the kitchen floor twice and have made the decision that the dogs and their feet will be confined to the back room aka The Stove Room until muddy paw season is over. They'll get enough socialization with that and the back deck and yard as their domain. I've discovered that the Dyson sucks up the dirt beautifully when it's dried. I wonder if they make a wet-vac?

Hugs and strength to you today, Tammy.

It's warmed up enough here already today, for me to open the windows. Jake and I are still discussing what we'll do today, but a trip to the plant nursery looks imminent. And we've been discussing where we'd like to go for our belated anniversary dinner. I think I'd prefer to order a take-out meal and enjoy it on our own patio with a nice bottle of wine. Sheesh, I guess we're becoming real cheapskates.

Cyndi, I'm happy that it's all working out to your satisfaction, and it seems to have come at the best time of year, too!

Tammy, my thoughts and prayers are surrounding you today.

Beth and Ruth, I hope it warms up for you both to enjoy the weather today! It sounds like you're the new neighborhood Dog-Sitter, Ruth!

Good morning

Tammy extra hugs to you today. Glad you have friends to comfort you.

Karen some road bikes are made for comfort. I am not tucked up like a Tour de France cyclist. I have a sort upper body, the stem is really easy to swap out. Safe travels and sorry for your loss.

Cyndi glad you are getting a much needed break. Long hours with tons of computer time gets to you believe me I know.

Beth enjoy getting your hands dirty. I may take Tuesday off to do the same. I haven't had much time lately to do projects. I need to make some adjustments

Ruth hope the doggies have fun and dry paws soon. Coconut is not happy unless his little feet are black lol.

Pearlrose hopefully we will hear something Friday. Six of us have agreed to let each other know if we get "the official call" before the promotional order gets published. I'm not confident that my interview was great. The questions were quite wordy and challenging. I had difficulty focusing. Hopefully they look at more than the interview to make their decision.

Today I am spending time with my pups before my brother George's 60th birthday. He is throwing himself a birthday bash. We are also celebrating his wife's 55tg birthday. Her niece married a graduate from the culinary institute. She always makes something amazing. Her mom will be making her signature guacamole which I coukd eat with a spoon! So much temptation!!!!

We leave for DC one week from today so it is extremely important I make wise food choices and no alcohol until after the ride. Maybe the scale will be my friend too. I have been stuck just above my goal weight which is frustrating despite my efforts. Truthfully I think a lot of it is age / hormone related. So I'll just keep, plugging along until I get back to where I want to be.

Ok time to soak up some sun!

Good morning,

It's a beautiful day here, plan is to do some inside and outside work today. Maybe weed around the house. It is supposed to get up to 80 degrees today wow.

One of my BFF friends was featured on TNT Cold Justice last night- her mom had just disappeared back in 1981 and case was never solved. Looks like it has now, just like she always suspected.

Avengers was good, enjoyed it as well.

Ruth enjoy your porch time and all of the pups.

Cottage sometimes not being in crowds and just enjoying your patio to yourself is nice as well

Tywnn thinking of you today

Beth enjoy your day

Cyndi that is great news for the summer, I am sure you will enjoy to the fullest

Jekel enjoy your party today sounds like a fun time

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning!

Sending special hugs to Tammy today.

I traveled back over the hill yesterday morning and back into my routine over here.

I'm sitting outside, as well. It's a tad chilly but getting warmer as we speak. I've been working in the yard a little bit and had a long talk with my DH regarding our cocker spaniel, Bing. Many of you know he's in the final stages of congestive heart failure and taking a lot of medication but at some point even the medication won't work. We may be nearing that time so Kirk is going to come over Monday morning and spend some time with him. Kirk leaves for Alaska a week from Wednesday and I don't know that Bing will last through seven weeks of daycare since that's a bit stressful. One day at a time, though. I did notice that I may have not given him one morning of pills which is his high dosage and maybe that was enough just to set off some extra symptoms. We shall see. He and I are just going to spend the day in the yard he watches me while I work.

Have a great start to the weekend everyone! I get Sunday off this week because I'm working Wednesday for a coworker. That will be nice especially since I want to be with the pup as much as possible.

Good morning

Ruth. It is indeed a glorious day and hopefully weather will be good tomorrow too. Lots of doggie care your way.

Linda. Enjoy your day whatever you decide to doo for supper. But no cooking.

Cyndi. Nice plans for the summer. Hope you share your preserving plans from time to time.

Tammy thinking of you on this difficult day.

Karen. Did you find any comfortable sandals. Im with you dreaming of finding my ideal sandal and if I do would buy many pairs.

Jennifer. Enjoy your birthday party and hope cleaning goes by fast.

Pearlrose. Hope your friend now finds peace of mind. Maybe the weeds won't come back. Hopeful thinking.

Beth. Have a great weekend.

Debbie. Sorry to hear about pup Bing.

my dd and family came for lunch yesterday. As we were all sitting down to lunch my 2 year old grandson looked around at everyone and said happy. Oh, my heart just melted.Today is a special birthday for her. A very befitting day for a princess to be born.
no gardening today. Dh and I are going out to a nice greek restaurant for lunch and then walking on a boardwal in port dalhousie and maybe to niagara on the lake for a walk around town. I decided we are going to do something every weekend. More summers behind us then ahead.
Take care
Sophie

That will be my mantra this summer. I pushed myself doing two hours work on the asparagus bed and was going to soak in the tub and hit the bed early BUT Joanne has set up an impromptu barbecue party so ... first of the season.

Good Morning

I am super excited! This is probably one of the only Sunday's I won't have to work this year! My coworker needed a trade so I will work Wednesday instead!

I had a super productive day outside for a Saturday and so I'm ready to head out again....if it would just get light! LOL Since I head back to work tomorrow I will spend my hour before dawn inside getting the house back in order. I've already enjoyed 2 cups of coffee on the porch.

sophie, what a sweet story about your grandson!

Ruth, hope the BBQ was fun. I'm motivated to add "clean the grill" to my list of chores today.

Karen, safe travels!

Jennifer, hope the birthday bash was fun!

Pearlrose, 80 degrees is perfect weather!

Linda, I'd rather have a take out dinner at home, too. Restaurants are so loud and DH has hearing loss so often dinner out's aren't too enjoyable. Did you buy lots of plants?

Tammy, I hope yesterday provided some closure.

Beth, did you fluff the soil?

Cyndi, a summer off sounds wonderful!

Ok, I'm headed to chores then outside again.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Have a great day off, Debbie, and make sure you take time to relax and enjoy it! Yes, we did some major plant buying yesterday. We bought 2 more Knockout roses, another Bloomerang lilac, 3 hanging baskets, and wave petunias. Then I saw a pre-planted pot that I just loved, so I bought the plants they used and went home and made up my own arrangement in my largest pot, and it looks just as nice as theirs, and it was a whole lot cheaper!

Today is THE day that I'm finally going to put away the winter clothes and get the summer stuff out. It's supposed to be nearly 80* today and for the next week, so it's time!

The trees look like they've been covered with white, pink and lavender lacy doilies, and I'm taking my coffee outside so I can admire them.

Have a spectacular day!
