Default Weighing in at 230 pounds...

Hey everyone, my name is Sam and I am 5'2 and 230 pounds. I take a 3x (or a 1x or 2x if I'm lucky) and a size 20 in jeans.

While I am happy with my clothing size right now, I may have to go on an anti-depressants as I just graduated high school and sit around at home all day doing nothing. I'm scared that an anti-depressant such as Celexa will make me gain 100 pounds and weigh 330. I'm very concerned about not being able to wear women's clothes anymore if I gain that much weight. Fashion is a huge part of my life and would hate to be stuck in sweatpants and an XXL men's t-shirt.

So, you graduated high school, and you sit around "all day" with nothing to do?

Come over! I'm 55, I've got a farm, a husband with a heart condition, 2 grown children, and 4 adorable grandchildren.

This does not count, my 2 huge gardens, I like to grow as much of my food as I can, and, between the commute and my job, I'm not at home 50 hours a week!

I know, I'm being a bit harsh, but sweetie, you need to find some big girl panties and PUT THEM ON!

Quit feeling sorry for yourself! That will never get you anywhere!

YOU! AND ONLY YOU! HAVE THE POWER, TO BE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO BE! Thing is, YOU HAVE TO DO IT, OWN IT!

I can't do it for you, no one else here can do it for you. YOU, have to DO IT! What ever IT is!

When I first graduated not that long ago, I spent my first summer at home and was like "What do I do????" I didn't get a job until October, and didn't start school until a year after that. Even today I haven't graduated from College or even found a degree I'd like to have. I got married and work full time as a bookkeeper.

My brother, who's three years younger than me, couldn't find work for a whole year after graduation, but his problem was that he looks like he's 13 and most people who are hiring wanted men for heavy lifting, and girls for cash and he wasn't the sterotypical "strong man". But now he works, and is saving for voice acting school.

My point is, don't worry, and don't panic because it's very hard to screw up on life!!! Shcirerf is right in that you can do it and you can get up and start being what you want to be. I don't know the circumstances of why you are stuck at home, but I know the struggle of looking for work or just wondering what to do. Working, doing something active are all things I know help with depression.

If you're goal is some weight loss, than you can use some of this at home time to start more exercise. Even if it's just daily walks, Youtube Yoga or running... you might find being active also helps battle some of the depression too with natural endoprhines.

Welcome, and while I'm not sure what your goals are, know that you can succeed!

Hi! The reason why I'm stuck at home (I'll try not to tell the story of my life) I am on the Autism Spectrum. I stayed an extra few years in high school for a post graduate program doing internships and "life skills" and I'm waiting for my services to kick in such as volunteering, job skills and my goal is to be in my own living space in the next 1 or 2 years.

I agree 100% with Schirerfer. You weren't being harsh. You were be honest. I'd rather have people be honest with me than throw me a pity party. My goal isn't to lose weight. My goal is to maintain my current clothing size and eat healthy and exercise. My main concern is the anti-depressant. I was on a medicine called Depakote to control my seizures and gained a lot of weight. It did a huge number on my body image and I can't let Celexa or Zoloft screw my weight up even more. I've read that anti-depressants can make you gain up to 100 pounds. If I weighed anywhere above I do now, let alone 330, I wouldn't be able to dress like a woman anymore probably.

Fashion is something that I really love and can't lose.

I've lost 25 pounds before. I know that I can be a fashionable size 18/20. I just have to work for it.
