Really feeling for the northeast USA Chicks today as the Storm of the Century ploughs through. I hope everyone is safe and warm for the duration. We have no snow in the forecast but who knows - we've been fooled before.
Busy Monday as Moel came over. He brought his little dog for a playdate so things were pretty wild in here but a good time was had by all. Moel moved my PC and printer into the upstairs hall for me. It is a tad inconvenient - stairs - but now I don't need to worry over having to do it at the last minute next week when I head for Cuba. Everything works fine and, for some reason, navigation seems faster. Closer to the sky?
Needless to say I didn't get the &*(@### rabbit finished but will get at it this morning. I am hoping to make a quick run into Smiths Falls to pick up my wine order which I ordered AND paid for back in October. Eric may have to charge me for storage.
I made a huge put of chicken, veggie, brown rice soup yesterday. Wish I could share it south of the border. If Beth could meet me at The Bridge, I could pass it over.
Hope your day is cozy, Chickies, and that the power stays on. Please check in when you can - I'm feeling Mother Hennish!
Morning, Ruth! Do you think the customs agents would give us any grief about the soup? Maybe we could bribe them with some.
No snow here. DS2 is right in the pathway since he goes to school on LI. I am interested to see how the storm tracks today and hear from him.
Today is the last Tuesday in the month; January seemed to go quickly for me this year, something I don't mind. The daylight is shifting noticeably on each end of the day.
Just another day at work, which is fine by me. I've got to run. Anyone need coffee? Mine is in a to- go cup.
I've moved onto my smoothie since I'm heading out the door in about 10 minutes. I haven't been watching the news lately since the TV room is now a bedroom for three.
Business as usual here today. I hope everyone stays safe and sound with the storm that's going on. It's warm and dry here. I know that will change at some point.
The Storm of the Century really fizzled out on us. We may have gotten a few inches, but calling it a snowstorm is stretching it. School is on a 2 hour delay and I know the girls will be very disappointed. But they'll be glad, come June, when they won't have to make it up.
I'm going to wander downstairs to see if anyone made coffee.. I'm at the farm and haven' t heard anyone moving about yet.
How did everyone else fare out with the snowstorm?
Hi al! Our "blizzard of a lifetime" also totally fizzled on us. They cancelled school in NYC and my law school closed as well, as did UPS here in the city, so we're all home today. I'm trying to get a playdate together for my son (although I'm not allowed to call it a playdate anymore!) and made my husband promise he would spend one hour cleaning out our storage unit. Tonight I got invited to a friend's house for dinner (she lives next door) so at least I'll be able to escape for a bit!
I've been struggling to stay on plan and keep up with my exercise...my visit to my parent's last weekend upset me so much it's been hard to get myself focused. But I am going to the gym today (it's in my apartment complex) and have some on plan food in the house, so today should go ok. Hope everyone keeps warm and dry!
Looks like I can stop worrying about some of you. This won't be the Great Blizzard of 2015 but the Big Hype of 2015! However, it ain't over 'til the fat lady sings and I'm not even humming.
Glad to hear that some are not getting as much snow as predicted they sure do like to hype it up.
I am having an allergic reaction again I think it was the orange I ate yesterday for lunch. This is a bit ridiculous being allergic to so many fruits..... need to find some benadryl (sp?) today
Ruth glad he moved the pc and printer upstairs for you one last thing to worry about
Beth have a good day at school
Debbie how long will you have company staying with you
Cottage I know kids love snow days but not making them up
Definitely overblown here too. Our snow started very early this morning and we have about 6-7" so far. It's not the horrible heavy, wet stuff we had the day before Thanksgiving so while I'm glad I don't have to be on the roads it's not that bad. Almost everything is closed but DH works in healthcare so he has to go to work no matter what. DD says about 16-18" in Boston so far, lots of wind, but power is on so she is happy. Her husband is considered essential by his employer so he stayed at work last night. Originally they thought he would stay tonight but hopefully he will get to go home.
I need a good chicken soup recipe. DD is having surgery in early Feb. and I want to have dinner ready for her and SIL when they come home. It needs to be bland enough for her post anesthesia tummy but not so boring no one will eat it. Any suggestions?
Looks like I will make lots of calls today. I've been trying to catch-up with a few people and most have no kids in care today so it's a good time to talk. Other than that it's data and chores. Should be a goodnight for baking while DH is at work.
Sorry worked literally kidnapped me since Sunday. Still here and back tomorrow. I actually slept at work on a folding cot last night. I did pack a bag with essentials, but barely slept. Uneventful night. I actually shoveled at work just to get some much needed exercise. According to my neighbor DS did not throw a wild party in my absence thank goodness! I did manage to get a cheesecake from Junior's relayed to me last night. My thank you to Jim and Nancy for looking out.
