Cool It is a lot harder this time around... What is your workout/daily caloric intake

I've been calorie counting for the past month and have been going to the gym about 3x a week.. I know thats not alot but thats what I did last time and dropped ALOT of weight. Even when I weighed this much in the past, I dropped it alot faster. However, this time, not so much.. I've only lost about 0.5 inches on my thighs and hips and not even my waist. After a whole month! and here I am googling that average weight reduction in a month is about 1-2 inches. I am just confused as to why its going so slowly, and at this point, I feel like itll plateau way before I am ready.

To be more specific, I'm around 155lbs and 5'6" and a half. Not a big number, not a small teeny one either. I would say I have some good weight to lose so not sure why Im stalling.

Help? Anyone in the same range? What work outs do you do/what is your daily caloric intake?

PS I realize this could also go into the featherweights section but I think this could be a problem many people can still relate to.

Hi luckystreak! I started around the same weight as you and we're around the same height too. I aim to stay under 1200 cals a day, with a lot of incidental exercise and dedicated cardio sessions around 4-5 days a week. Even so, my weight loss is now very slow, but I've learnt to be more patient with myself. One of the reasons I'd thrown in the towel in the past was because I expected too much too soon.

Hi lucky streak! I am new here...and weigh more than you. I have been at this since early December - about 6 weeks and I have lost roughly 6 pounds. Not a ton by any means.

I don't count calories and I don't exercise much -- both seem to backfire on me! So I eat three meals a day with no snacks and very little sweets. I relax on the weekends -- still no snacking but add in some sweet treats to make this more livable. I only eat real food -- no artificial anything. But we do eat out several times a week so this seems to work well in that regard. Trying to teach myself to stop eating before I'm uncomfortable. It's a hard habit to learn!

Good luck! The closer we are to a normal weight the slower and harder it is!

.5 in off your thighs and hips is great! As others have mentioned the lower you are the slower it comes off. I know I lose in random chunks around my body, not all evenly every month. So sometimes I'll lose a little off my waist but go a while before I have a drop in my thighs for example. I've read those averages too, but they really don't apply to me so I just ignore them. Everyone loses differently

I am 5'6 and weigh 133 and eat 1350-1500 calories to lose at a decent but modest pace plus one cheat day a week. I exercise when I want so maybe 2-3x a week usually doing cardio. I log my calories very meticulously and measure EVERYTHING. I notice often when I stall its because I've loosened up a little with measuring.

Best of luck! I know how frustrating it can get, especially once you get into lower weights. Just keep at it and the weight will eventually come off

I run 5 days a week for 40-50 minutes and eat anywhere from 1,500-1,800. I'm not losing because I eat closer to 1,800 more often than I should be. I maintain for the most part but a few pounds have crept back.

I am on about 1200-1400 a day on average with it changing if I am eating out or pigging out on chocolate.

I am also breastfeeding so this helps with the weight loss and I just returned to exercise again today so did some power walking and zumba.

And have lost 9 pounds over the last 3 weeks so having a great start to the year.

I'm quite a bit heavier than you.. but figured I'd share my workout routine anyway. Calorie goal is just shy of 1700 (1690) for a 1lb a week loss. For exercise I've been doing 5 days a week.

Mon/Wed/Fri are "strength" days. I do 3 sets each of about 10 different at home exercises. These include push-ups, crunches, planking, squats, side lunges, back lunges, calf raises, tricep dips, then front, back, and side leg lifts. The amount I do in each set is anywhere from 10-20 depending on the exercise. I work from home so I'm able to do the exercises in between pulling tasks for work.

Tues/Thur are my cardio exercises. There are three things I go between, just depending on what I want to do that day. I have Zumba fitness DVDs that are about 35 minutes long, or I do Just Dance (a video game) sweat mode for 30 minutes, or recently I started using the elliptical at the gym for my apartment complex when I want to for 20 minutes.

Strength training I didn't really add until after Christmas (when I gained a bit) but it does seem to be helping a lot.

I am shorter so, is. Differences between us, I was 180s and my weight was harder to lose, I am down 29 lbs and have 35 more. I think it's believing in yourself and not obsessing over numbers on scale, get some jeans you love and try them on once month or week, I have two pairs try on weekly basis and weight myself weekly on Saturday because my workout week starts Sundays. My schedule variations looks like this.

Sunday- stationary indoor bike 50 min , weight lifting 25 min arms and butt
Monday- just dance Wii game 35 min, squats 25 min, abs 40 min
Tuesday- walking zombies run game 34 min, abs 30 min, squats 15 min
Wednesday- biking indoors 50 min, ball AB workout 40 mins with weights
Thursday- dance 30, zombies run game 34 min and ball work 30 min

1.303 calories per day I Limited fast carbohydrates and eating clean and losing 2 lb week with 1 or 2 days off varies if sore . I switched it up with jane Fonda DVDs or turbo jam if just dance bored so me but variations weekly basis. Keep your body guessing and more you reduced calories more fighting you have because you hit starving mode.

I'm maintaining at 2,000 cals per day. My meals are of approximately equal size and I have 8 oz wine with dinner. I exercise four times a week, about 45 minutes per session. I'm 58 years old, so I can't complain even though I'd like to eat more.
