Default Kids snacks.

I was curious if any of you ladies have special little snacks that you make for your kids or grandkids.
My daughter is always asking for a snack and I managed to find some that she likes. Such as:

Sliced up apple (any kind, but mainly she likes Gala) dipped in melted peanutbutter.

Sliced carrots or baby carrots dipped in lowfat ranch. (she actually prefers the lowfat!)

And peanutbutter spread onto a tortilla with sliced banana's.

I'm looking for something new, yet still appealling to her eye. (or should I say taste buds?) I would appreciate any new idea's that you have. Now, she's can be picky. I can get her to eat any kind of veggie, but only a few will she eat raw. She would rather have them steamed. I want her to be able to enjoy a healthy snack, yet not get bored with the same old things that I keep giving her. So any idea to spruce up a fruit or veggie,,, I would like to hear!

Thanks ladies
Marti

Great thread!

DD keeps a container of kiddie trail mix, with Fruit Loops, raisins and tiny goldfish crackers in it for the twins. I keep Rumbly Grahams on hand for them at my house. They also like fruit chunks - right now it is cantaloupe and watermelon since we are surrounded by them. And as the grandma, I have to admit I have Ice cream cones for them at all times.

How about some yogurt with stuff in it? Good for calcium. Or ham and cheese rolled up and cut into bite size rounds? That would be good for protein.

I'm sure the others will have some good ideas...

Default Shannycakes

Anyone familiar with the weightlifting thread is familiar with these gems. They take no time at all to make and my kiddo eats them up.

Shannycakes
1/4 cup cottage cheese
4-6 egg whites (you can throw in a few whole eggs if you like)
1/2 cup of oatmeal
6-8 packets of splenda
a capful of vanilla
a sprinkle of cinnamon

throw all ingredients in blender and blend well. Heat up griddle and spray lightly. Cook like you would a pancake. They will be a little thinner, more like a crepe. GOOD FOR YOU AND THE SHORTY!
YUM
