Default International Flight Questions

Hi ladies,

I'm on week 8 of my extended induction. Feeling fab and losing inches and lbs. In about four weeks I will be traveling home to Texas for a month long winter holiday but I have 25 hours of traveling (both planes and transfer times) to contend with. My longest flight is more than 12 hours so I am concerned about what I can do so that I stay on induction. Here in Asia, most airlines/airports will not allow you to carry on any kind of prepared food/snacks or drinks. They go through your bags twice prior to boarding the plane and force people to throw stuff out even if they bought things in the terminal. I feel like I can do good with my transfer times because I can search restaurants at the airport to find something...but 12+ hours on a plane with no food seems like too long for me. Anyone have any suggestions? Also, what kind of meal should I request when booking my ticket? I was thinking gluten free would be my best bet for getting veggies.

If they provide a meal then it should be OK, I think.

If not:
How about you have some snacks on your jacket pocket since they only go through your bags? You know, green tea bags, little sausage stick (pre packed, check for sugar content and nitrates), or jerky that has no added sugar, or a zip log bag of veggie sticks. It sounds silly, I know, they scan everything, but I am talking about small amounts not pounds of stuff.

What if you say they are needed for medical reasons? Such as insulin problems where you get sick and can pass out unless you have special snacks at certain time intervals? Would you need a doctor's note for that?

Another idea is to just look at their snack list and splurge on buying some stuff while on the plane.

You could also have a healthy meal right before going to the airport or before boarding and sleep most of the 12 hours and only have tea and water.

You might just have to take a day off induction and still stay below 20 carbs a day. You could have nuts as snacks, extra cheese or fruit and cheese platter/plate, low carb fruit (berries) or whatever they have to offer that is low carb.

I would still try and sneak something in my bag, just in case!

This is a tricky one!!!
I am curious what others will think of.
Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. Also curious to hear from others as well.

My biggest concern with finding snacks as always too, is that I am in China where not a lot of things are available.

One thing I'm considering as a last resort, and YES I do mean absolute last resort, would be a few of the atkins bars because I have seen them online here in China. However, my full 8 weeks of extended induction so far I have NEVER used anything processed so I would be scared to do so...given that its such a long flight though...better to have something than nothing??
