Ahhh, I was quite annoyed at myself, woke up before 5 am again, darned it.
Yesterday was the least crazy Monday we've had! The reviews for employees helps, because that gives me a 2 hour lunch break. My physical issues are slowly getting worse, so the long break is helpful. Today is the same - a review over lunch - and tomorrow I only work a half day. Thursday is my EMG to hopefully start nailing down what's going on.
I'm about to work on a pot of Kalyn's red beans and rice . Mmmm, will be delicious in this nasty weather!
Thursday can't come soon enough, Tammy! I'm really concerned for you! Make sure you rest when you can!
It's sunny here this morning, but the windchill is supposed to be in the teens all day. I grabbed a container of butternut squash soup from my freezer stash for a nice, hot lunch today. I just hope I can get to the microwave! And I hope the plumber comes early today to reconnect the water. I was carting dishes back and forth from the sink in the mudroom all day yesterday! It's all for the good, though.
Good morning Chicks It's sunny and very cold here. The air temp isn't bad but it's windy enough to be noticeable. Hot flashes make dressing for cold weather so much more challenging. In the past I'd grab a turtleneck and a wool sweater but at some point in the day (or several) I will not be able to tolerate a turtleneck or tear a wool sweater off fast enough so it's my usual long sleeve light weight top with a warm cardigan over. I don't mind the flashes so much anymore but winter dressing requires more thought.
I will probably mix phone calls and visiting today. Somewhere in there I have to get snow tires too. Can't wait any longer for those. The next 2 weeks will be a lot of driving in strange places, no excises, so those tires are going to come in handy.
I better get ready. We have an 8 am call to start off the day and I need to do a little prep before that.
I was typing from my phone and somehow lost my post. I guess I better proceed with my day and start getting ready for work. I already have my smoothie stuff laid out. It's a chilly and windy day here. Oh well.
Tammy, thanks for getting us started this morning. I really hope you start to have some answers. I'm glad yesterday wasn't too busy and I hope you have another smooth day today.
Good morning, Early Beachers. I see smoke coming out of the chimney next door so it must be cold. They never light the woodstove unless it's really needed.
Tammy, I sure hope your Thursday appointment gives you some answers and solutions. This has gone on long enough. I hope the next two days go quickly.
Linda, I'm glad to see that someone else is souping it these days. Today I am making Portuguese Caldo Verde with cauliflower in place of the potatoes.
Not sure if the roofers will be here this morning as it is supposed to snow for the rest of the week. The darned dumpster is in front of the barn so my poor car is stuck sleeping outside. I need to get into the barn to get my snowbrush and scraper or buy new ones today.
We had our Mill Board Meeting at Anna's house yesterday and she is completely decorated for Christmas right down to having switched to her Christmas china. And Anna decorates everywhere - complete overkill! However, it did seem appropriate with the snow falling heavily all afternoon. I came home to find that Millie had destroyed one of my slippers which gives me a suggestion for the kids for Christmas.
Not sure what the day will bring except another hour or so working on purging the upstairs getting ready for the rug removal in two weeks. I also need to go over to the Mill to check out a cleaning job done by one of the guys. We had to evict a mink couple who set up housekeeping in our bread cabinet - no bread in it but they were hoping, I guess.
Time for another coffee. Paul just popped in to tell me the roofing has to be on hold, probably until next week since it's way too cold and snowy. He is coming back to move the dumpster a bit so I can get into the barn.
Better get with it and get dressed since my day is starting without me.
Linda. I guess it was good exercise carrying dishes from mud room
Cyndi. Its nice when the hot flashes are gone. Do drive carefully
Debbie. Enjoy your smoothie
I tried posting yesterday but it said site was down. Got my list done for some deep cleaning and baking before Christmas. Shopped on line for the grandsons and asked dss to check if there was anything on amazon they like. I resolved not to buy any clothing for them. My tastes are just too old fashion. Scores a bargain for myself a $ 120 pair of jones of n.y. pants for 30. Im going to like them. Good day to everyone
take care
Sophie
It is a lovely 15 degrees right now but it will warm up to 28 later. My car is in the shop for oil change and to see if it time to replace brakes.
Wfh for me today have to finish up reports before the next round of testing starts. We are having our Thanksgiving potluck tomorrow and I also have to attend some demos.
Tammy I sure hope they find out something soon for you.
Cottage yesterday I had soup for lunch and dinner, perfect weather for it
Cyndi drive safely
Debbie hope that work goes by quickly for you.
Ruth glad they are going to move the dumpster so you can park in the barn
Sophie I am scaling back this Christmas on gifts, will get kids smaller gifts but two oldest their major present is the ski trip.
Sophie - I had to laugh. My (almost) 22 year old just sent the wish list I'd be asking for and said he'd like clothes. I don't dare buy unless he tells me the EXACT item.
Not much happening here today. I'm working the closing shift tonight and already not looking forward to going out in the cold after dark. Will be grateful for my seat warmer! Just bought new gloves on sale at REI yesterday so will test them out today. I have Raynaud's so my fingertips go numb pretty easily with the least chill. Last winter I even tried gloves with battery-heat but they didn't work well enough for me to want to deal with the bulkiness.
Evening. We are in the middle of winter weather; luckily the drive home wasn't too bad. I wish I had the foresight to put stew into the crockpot (today's craving) but I ended up with Mock Cornbread in the oven instead. Stew will be on the rotation quite soon!
Tammy, I hope you find some answers to your health issues soon. Sophie, my kids and nieces/nephews get gift cards most years. I figure they know best what they need or want but can't afford. Ruth, are you trying to purge a bit as you clean out those rooms? When we did our floors I managed a bit of that but I think there is still a couple boxes of odds and ends in the basement that came from the closets.
We are looking at another couple days of winter storms before we warm up into the 40s.
