Post New to site and need encouragment

Hello All,

I am once again on the IP diet I did it about two years ago and got to the weight I wanted to be and swore I would never gain it back to only get into a relationship with an abusive person ( and since I'm very much an emotional eater) have put back on the weight I lost and then some.. I keep trying to get back on board with Ideal Prtoien but cant seem to conquer the cravings for all my comfort foods ( CARBS - cake, candy, ice cream,) can anyone offer me any suggestions to remotivate myself and get out of this slump I am in

Thank you

Hi!

I'm very much an emotion eater too, and definitely know how those stressful situations can make you pack on the pounds. I just started on IP, haven't been on it for very long but the best thing I've found is the IP brownies. Baked goods are the hardest for me to give up, very rarely was there a meal that didn't involve bread or pastry of some kind. When I'm really starting to miss my goodies, I have my brownie for the day and am able to overcome it.

i don't know about the IP diet but what really got me motivated was the hatred i felt for the people that made me feel horrible about my body and wanting to make them jealous of my husband! you see, someone once said to me (amongst other things) that my poor husband couldn't breathe when he was under me, so now i want to make them wish i would get on top of them!
hatred can be the best fuel and motivation to get what you want. I say make your abusive ex wish he'd treated you like a queen!

Welcome Lisa!

Boy howdy, do I know about carb cravings. I think most of us do. For me, the best way to eliminate those cravings (not just stifle them) is to clean up my sugars and processed carbs. The less I eat of them - including pretend treats - the less I crave them.

I've had successful weight loss in the past doing this, and convinced myself I could safely add them back to my diet. Ha! This time I won't make that mistake.

You can do this!

Default hello

Hello

first i'd like to say that you need to find some motivation this can come from several places. Motivation is the most important thing that you need to succeed. the next thing you want to do is write down exactly what you want to achieve. Then you need to write down the time frame that you want to achieve the goals by. This will help you stay motivated. You need to make sure that your goals are realistic and manageable

Thank you all for the advice please keep it coming I did watch a great movie that I am hoping will help as well entitled Fed Up if you have not seen it you should although its sad it makes so much sense.

I will have to try the brownies I went for my first weigh in on Wednesday and weighed in at 207.8 ugh and to think 6 months ago I was at 150 is so very depressing!! But all your support is so appreciated and I hope I can be of encouragement to you as well.

Do you go in weekly? Do you have a coach helping you? When I'm having issues or cravings, I bring them up with my coach and she helps me figure out some strategies that work for me. Sometimes especially when you're in high stress abuse situations it isn't as easy as just stop everything. I know personally the more I try to just drop everything, the more likely I am to make big cheats. That's part of why I never tried any diets before IP. Of course, everyone's different but I knew I needed the structure IP offers, and my coach requires I have one restricted a day which makes it more likely I'll actually stay on track.

You know what will work best for you, listen to your instinct. If you know just dropping everything will make it easier in time, go for it! I completely believe you can do it! If you know that you do need that little bit of comfort the IP restricteds provide, then talk that through with your coach if you have one and figure out what works.

And whatever you do, don't be too hard on yourself. You're already in an emotional situation and stressing yourself out more by beating up on yourself will only make you want to emotion eat more. Try to be non judgemental with yourself. It will get easier, just keep trying, and do what you can to reduce your stress.
