Good morning all,
Ruth, I'm already anticipating a merge . Anyway, welcome to Wednesday. It's actually my Friday since I took tomorrow and Friday off since schools are closed. We have some fun things planned and I'd like to get some housework done over the next two days.
As for today, I have my class tonight, so Wednesdays are different than other days during the week because my husband takes my son to school so I can go to work early since I have to leave a little early. Normally Wednesday evenings are a lot of rushing around - I go to pick up my son at 4:30, and take him to an appointment (my son sees a therapist who specializes in children with ADHD), then I go on to my class (my sitter picks him up from the appointment), but I have 45 minutes to kill so I usually pick up dinner during that time. It's a lot of running around. Today, however, my son does not have his appointment so I'll just pick him up and bring him home, and the sitter will come here, but then I have to run out to my class so it's still a lot of running around!!!! When I get home on Wednesday nights it sure does feel like I've gotten over a hump.
Anyway, today - work - at lunch I'm going to check out a contemplative meditation session over lunch at a nearby church. Perhaps it will calm me for the rushing...hope everyone has a great day today.
Matilda, the meditation session sounds good. What is your class on this evening? I actually just told DH I think I'll drop my Wednesday night bible study with the ladies, I just feel like I'm never home.
I was right yesterday - wound up working the afternoon. Good thing too, I worked a full day in 4 hours! My colleague volunteered to come in because it was such short notice, and I asked her if she really should..."no". At least I got my breakfast and hike in with a friend .
So things will be a bit busier at work for the next 8-9 weeks, until she comes back. Hopefully I can keep on track decently for meals (I'm putting black beans (and rice) in crock pot for dinner! Mmmmm). I did skip this AM's walk, since I walked 3+ miles the last 4 days.
Morning, Matilda and happy hump day! Your Wednesday does sound a bit wired. When my kids were younger (and involved in all matter of activities) I had many a day with that kind of schedule. But your meditation session sounds great- maybe it will help.
I finally started pulling dead plants out of the veggie garden yesterday. Found one last cherry tomato and a couple of tiny cukes. But the great news is I am about to be overrun with Brussel Sprouts!! Yum!
I need to get packed up and out the door. Amazing that this is the last Wednesday of this month.
To all the chicks to come- have a great day!
ETA- morning, Tammy! I took a tacobake out of the freezer for dinner tonight. Isn't it great when you plan ahead?!
Oh my, Mathilda, that sounds very rushed. I think the meditation course is a great idea. (By the way, I've not cracked that book yet except to look through it briefly. As a systems analyst, I think the flow charts will be helpful.)
I got lots done yesterday including a trip to the vet. Would you believe Jazz has tonsillitis?! I didn't even know dogs had tonsils! Some antibiotics should fix him right up. Right now he and Millie are playing really hard so I guess recovery has started. We do pet therapy this afternoon but I won't take him unless he is definitely better.
This morning I intend to stay home doing The Big Domestic as my kids always called it. (They liked it better when I did The Big Bake but that won't happen until just before Thanksgiving.) I may finally get caught up on laundry and get hose summer clothes put away. Hanging the fall wreaths and getting a pumpkin made me get real about the season.
I see Tammy and Beth snuck in while I was babbling. Yes, it IS the last Hump Day of the month.
Good morning! I am fighting the urge to go back to bed and sleep a few more hours. If only! I did sleep well last night, but so well that I want more!
Matilda, your day sounds like every one of my days, but I've learned to just go with the flow. It sure feels good to get home and put up my feet at the end of the day, though! I hope you get that hour of solitude and meditation at noon.
Tammy, it sounds like things are going to be busier before they calm down again in your life. Beans and rice are sounding good. I have some in the freezer, but I also have a spaghetti squash that needs to be used. Hmmmm, I wonder how they'd taste all mixed together?
Beth, I tried to grow brussels sprouts once, but it was disasterous. I hope you enjoy yours! Are you going to freeze some?
Ruth, how is Jazz feeling today? Poor little pup, I can't imagine a dog with a sore throat. Where has Donna been?
I agree Matilda meditation sounds wonderful. I don't envy your day.
Tammy I can't imagine you have much down time at work. if you miss your morning run you are still getting exercise at work.
Ruth I love fall decorations. Hope a Jazz feels better soon
Beth isn't it nice to still get fresh veggies this late in the season
Linda I made mock baked ziti with spaghetti squash yesterday. I cook and freeze them. I try to under cook them so they stay crisp. i made it the other day with basil, a little butter, garlic and fresh parmigiana, salt and pepper soooo tasty.
The house is even more quiet then usual. Mainly because the dogs got their nails done. They both fought me, but I won lol. Poor things were exhausted last night, which was great too. Mick is getting a belly rub with my foot at the moment. He likes to take my slipper off as a hint.
Not much on the to do list today which is nice. Joe is coming for dinner I made stuffed peppers last night so I just need to reheat the. My front yard looks like a dump...literally... I FINALLY cleaned out the basement which was no easy task. Bulk pick up is Friday so I only need to look at the pile for a few days.
