Hi ponchorocks! Welcome to the Beach.

I've started/restarted several times. An overly busy schedule and some health issues have set me back. I was going to start back this week, and your post gave me the push I needed. I'll join you on Sunday.

There's no need to be scared! Please ask questions -- these boards are often very quiet, but there are people with a lot of experience around and they'll be delighted to answer any questions you have.

For what it's worth, one of the reasons I've failed so often in the past is that I have to be perfect -- and never am. I've finally realized that if I slip up, it's a slip, not "Oh, drat. I guess I'll start over again after Thanksgiving."

Good luck to you! If there are any other lurkers out there thinking about rejoining, please jump in!

I am thinking of starting on Monday, together with my husband, Phase I. We haven't done South Beach yet, only Atkins here and there, but looking forward to doing something different, something a bit healthier. My husband hasn't done low carb in a while so he might find it quite challenging.

What are your plans for breakfasts? I was going to do a quiche for us to have but thinking I'll just do a protein shake and have the quiche for lunches with salad.

I am hoping I lose 5 lbs by the end of Phase I

Check out the recipe sections. I usually have eggs with turkey and cheese or a Greek yogurt smoothie fir my P1 breakfasts. In the colder months I enjoy steel oats with apples, walnut and apple pie spices thrown in. I eat all of my meals out when I work, I pack my food for the day. Takes more work, but totally worth it.

Welcome to the beach and welcome back Xan

Welcome! When starting out, it really helps to sit down and plan a week's worth of meals, shop for the ingredients, and do as much prep in advance as you can. Also, there's a fairly strict formula that you really should stick with for your first phase 1 - it will reduce cravings and jump start your weight loss:
-2 dairy servings a day (cheese does not count as a dairy - milk and yogurt do)
-1 bean serving a day - beans are 1/3 cup a serving
-1/2 cup veggies at breakfast, 2 cups veggies at each lunch and dinner, or however you stretch them across the day - 4.5 cups veggies a day
-enough protein

then supplement with your fats, etc. , but don't go less that the dairy/bean/veggie servings above. Good luck! Take a look at the on plan threads for meal ideas!

I plan on starting again Monday. I did SB about a year ago and lost 7 lbs. Not really sure why i didn't stick to it because it was pretty simple to do. Anyway after gaining about 10lbs over the last year I'm ready to start feeling good about myself again Would love to have some friends to check in with and keep motivated.

Good luck!
