Default Lazy Weekend on the beach 9/6-7

Wakey, wakey! Gosh chicks, it's 6:30 and no one's started yet?! Did Ruth actually sleep in today, or is she wandering the net?

Matilda - sorry for your loss.

Jennifer - you're sneaky

Cottage - how were your MRI results? Enjoy your time off!

Debbie - how long were you stuck outside? (our spare is in our bbq grill around the house...unless my DH (dear, dear, dear) uses it and doesn't put it back...)

Natasha - I must start running again, I just don't know when...

Pearl- It's supposed to cool off here today, how 'bout you?

Yesterday went crazy - my colleague was having high blood pressure (she's 35 weeks preggers) and left with 5 minute notice, and I found out by end of the day she'll be back part time now. But at least I get my Tuesday off! Gratefully, she and baby are okay, but my day got quite busy.

Today we're going shopping for remodeling our bathroom - new cabinets, flooring, and paint color. Ohhhh, I should wander the internet first!

Good news is, the scale is back to 4 lbs down with my hormones backing off a bit. I am 98% off grains still, but definitely eating fruit. Hopefully, I'll keep on track and be back to where I want to be!

What's everyone's plans for the weekend?

Good morning. I was up earlier and saw you online Tammy but had to dash off to pick up the Mill bread. The day is sort of damp but a tad cooler. I'm hoping we have lots of Cafe visitors to use up all the stuff I prepped for yesterday's not-happening bus tour! We served exactly 11 people and that included the 5 volunteers.

After I was finished with the cafe yesterday afternoon, I came home to find my neighbour working splitting firewood wood behind the barn. I mentioned that the doggage were escaping and he very kindly walked the fence line and blocked two suspicious spots. I felt badly for him because he came back with bleeding legs - he was in shorts and there are brambles in there. We sat on the deck and had a beer - yes, me! Drinking beer! First time this summer and it sure felt good.

I am about to get another coffee and then soak in the tub until it's time to head over to the cafe. I plan to "run out of food" early today if we don't have more customers. We are grinding at the Mill which sometimes brings in lots of people but today's weather is sort of showery so who knows.

Tammy, enjoy the bathroom shopping. I need to do the same "when the work's all done this fall".

Good morning

I have just enough enough time to say hello before I get in the car again.

We drove over the hill this morning and I have just enough time to check in before I get in the car again and take my sister to the airport. She doesn't have another treatment for three weeks so she's going out to Seattle to get her car and bring it back.
I'm hoping for some time today to work on my quilt but I think I have to go back to Denver and get a prescription from Costco.

Have a great day everyone! I will be back later.

Hi Twynn!! You are up early and enthusiastic! I actually woke up early myself in a great mood - feeling motivated - and will try to accomplish some things before I go out today to prep for the funeral. Right now I'm cooking some chicken drumstick that I got on super sale for my husband and son's lunch, and then some to freeze. I think I'll pre-assemble snack bags and hot dogs for my son's lunch as well, before I get ready to go out and shop for the flowers for the funeral.

I weighed myself this morning and I've gained back the 2 lbs. I lost, what a surprise. I'll change my ticker to reflect his. I'm going to go on Phase 1 for 5 days (Monday - Friday next week).

Hope everyone has a great day...

Good morning Yesterday was a lost day, woke up with a brutal headache and took most of the day to really get over it. Happily it was all gone in time for an evening bonfire and glass of wine

Today I've got some work work to do and lots and lots of house and garden chores. It will be a busy weekend! Tim has just about completed the new pantry so I need to fill it

I've got food in the crockpot for a friend who had surgery and tomatoes in the dehydrator. All the clean-up for those two things is done (why do I never count the post project clean-up times?! I think I spend most of my day doing that!). Now for a shower then off to do some work. Tomorrow will be my personals catch-up day

I had my implants put in on Thursday and have been on pain killers but its getting better. I guess we will forget all this when we hit gay paree next Sunday. I am happy because my friend who has bacterial mengiti s called me and her memory is all intact although she has trouble walking right now but she is a fighter. Today I have to deal with some zucchini. I will make bread to feed the freezer
have a nice weekend

Good morning, chicks! I've been up for a bit but got lost in cyberspace, then decided it was time for an omelet. Anyway, checking in now.

Yesterday was the 2nd day of crazy hot here- upper 80s although there was a breeze which helped make it bearable. Seems every year we get a blast of hot to start school. Today it is 65* and raining but then we will be in the 70s and dry for a few days.

I picked a boatload of tomatoes yesterday since the plants seem to be on their last legs. Now what to do with them? I already froze a big batch of tomato soup so I am trying to work up the energy to make sauce or something.

Natasha, great job on your 5K!
Ruth, your furry friends are quite crafty with their escapes!
Tammy, isn't it amazing how your boss and co-workers can make or break a job?! Sometimes they have a bigger impact on your happiness than the job you are doing. I'm glad you are so happy now.
Debbie, hope you weren't locked out for long. It is great you can be such a help to your sister.
Pearlrose, the kids had 2 days of class this week. And I agree with you about this newest math methodology- I'm old school enough to believe there is still a place for just memorizing your arithmetic facts!!
Matilda, sorry for your loss. Hope things go smoothly today.
Cyndi, want to come dry my tomatoes?
Jennifer, you are doing a really nice thing for your co-worker.

Have a great day, chicks!

Good morning,

Tried to jump on earlier but didn't have a chance to finish reading everyone's post and then posting before it was time to leave for DD2 soccer game.

I have to vent for a second-- I am very frustrated with car insurance the other vehicle's insurance is not wanting to pay saying undisclosed family member driving vehicle which means we have to go through our insurance and pay $500 deductible for something that was not our fault- okay vent over.

Tywnn it cooled off enough that I wore a jacket to DD2 game this morning.

Ruth that was nice of your neighbor to walk your fence.

Debbie hope you get to work on your quilt today

Matilda sorry for your loss

Cyndi glad to hear that your headache finally went away so you could enjoy your evening

Sophie you must be so excited to be going to Paris next weekend

Beth we are in the 60's right now and it is supposed to climb into the 70's but it is rainy still

We still have a parade and Trentonfest to attend this afternoon so busy day here.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Pearl - what?! You have someone undisclosed, or they do? Why wouldn't they pay??!! I agree with you

Yesterday we got a lot done thought wise for the bathroom. Bathroom countertops are ridiculously expensive! The same guy worked with us, and even remembered my last dog . My DH even agreed to get a jetted tub in the room!! Won't that be awesome?!

Today should be a play day, but I also need to do menu and possibly shopping. The cool off just happened, so I think from here out we're in low 70's for day, 40-50's at night. Soup time!

Where do I sign-up for the lazy weekend? It's another busy weekend around here. I"m taking a few extra minutes of sitting before I kick into high gear. I've got blueberries, peppers, and squash on the shelves in the new pantry and they all need to be dried, frozen, or canned today. I would rather sit on my porch and play with my camera and go mushroom hunting If I get all my list stuff done I will go for a walk when DH gets out of work at 3:30, so some incentive to get moving.

I'm already enjoying the cooler weather here. I would love a really long fall.

Tammy - I'm thinking soup time too. I made a yummy sausage ratatouille yesterday for a friend recovering from surgery. It smelled so good I put it on our list for the week too. Eggplants, basil, and peppers are still growing in my garden.

Ruth - how did it go at the Mill yesterday? Delta is on my bucket list.

Debbie - hope you get a few minutes for quilting this weekend.

Matilda - I love days that start out that way. Hope you get a breather today

Sophie - mmmm zucchini bread. Now I'm adding that to my list for the day Here's to more healing all around

Beth - Last year when everyone had plentiful tomatoes around here (this year we got the blight) I slow roasted and froze quite a few. They were so amazing in the middle of winter. This year I hope to can a few but they are much more expensive and mine all succumbed. I dry a few for eating. They never make it into anything because I sprinkle them with basil and salt and we just snack on them I'm going to do a couple of jelly jars of this way.

Rose - how frustrating!

Cottage - Are you at the Cape? My DD and hub are there for the weekend and my parents are going this week. It must be the season I know you are having a great time.

Okay, time to get busy around here if I want to get out this afternoon. Banana pancakes then to work.

Good Morning!

Yesterday I got caught up on some rest. Now I'm getting caught up with the household stuff before I head to work. I ate too much yesterday. I want to do better today.

Pearlrose, sorry about the insurance stuff. I would think you wouldn't have to pay the deductible and they'd try to go after the uninsured person for the whole thing....at least that's what I always thought. Keep pressing your company??

Laughing at myself this morning. A timely reminder popped up re our Quilter's Meeting tomorrow and I thought today was Monday. Hurried through the financials and cobbled together the report. Then I wondered why my neighbour's car was still in the lane and realized today is SUNDAY! Bonus!

Although it was raining yesterday, we did have a successful Milling Day and I was delighted to really run out of food and close the cafe! We host a quick Women's Institute lunch on Thursday but that'll be lady-lady sammies, simple salad and dessert - their favourite part! Saturday we have a tour of guys from a car club to see the Mill and have lunch and I'm hoping that'll be the end.

Miss Millie is very mischievous and I'm beginning to think she is younger than the shelter thought. This week she chewed up a sandal and also got a package of dried rosemary from pantry, chewed it open, spreading prickly rosemary all over the couch. My theory is that she had puppies from her first heat (can be 8 months) and then was kicked out when she went into heat again. (She was dumped in a box in parking lot!) Anyhow, she sure acts like a puppy so I must be more patient.

Hope you Sunday is a good day. (I'm sure glad I smartened up and will be able to enjoy mine!)
Laundry and maybe housework is on the "menu" for today.

Happy Sunday, Ruth! At least you got your paperwork done! Now you can enjoy a moderately laid-back day. LOL

I finally got all the binding figured out for my "project. I have the material washed and ironed but I'm not going to cut it this morning. Maybe I will get off work early? Knows.

I know for sure that I better get dressed and get my smoothie going.

Good morning,

It looks like it is going to be a gorgeous day here, what to do, what to do... I will think of something.

DH went to Rams game so it will be relaxing day if I wish except for a couple of loads of laundry to keep it up.

In the middle of the night last night it dawned on me that insurance from the guy who was driving should cover him driving his daughter's boyfriends car. The vehicle insurance won't cover (I don't think it is a reputable firm at all) but just found out that driver has same insurance as us, State Farm so we will call tomorrow and let them know and hopefully now it is all covered under the other driver.

Twynn jetted tub you are making me jealous We need to redo our bathroom but it will have to wait.

Cyndi hope you get the list accomplished so when DH is off you can go for a nice walk

Debbie I ate too much yesterday as well so today is back on track for me. Hope work goes by quickly.

Ruth you gained an extra day . It does sound like Miss Millie might be a puppy.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Hey everyone, I stopped in this morning but didn't post. Have been to the grocery store and did some laundry, now I'm watching football with DH. I may try to do a little homework while we watch.

Tammy, we did our bathroom floor a couple years ago but I would love to finish the rest. The previous owners chose mauve for the fixtures and I would LOVE to get rid of them! Maybe next year...

Ruth, my bedroom clock radio has the day of the week on it. More than once I've been glad it cued me into what day it was!!

Cyndi,
I am impressed by your ambition to preserve so much food! I think I am spoiled by the availability and variety in stores. It promotes laziness.

Pearlrose, good luck with the insurance company. I can't believe it would be up to you to pay the deductible but common sense doesn't always rule. Several years ago a car rolled over in our front lawn during a snow storm and we ended up cleaning up the broken glass and associated mess. The driver didn't even contact us!!

Hope everyone has a great rest of their day!
