Default Please Throw Me A Bone

Hey, I'm new to this and am starting this thread because then I'll feel obligated to stick to my diet. I loooooove food. So much. My husband and I just ate an entire 5 meat double stuffed pizza today so I'm not feeling well AT ALL, at least not physically. Mentally, I like it, I love it, and I want some more of it. Anyway, I know there will be people who are adamantly against water fasts and I am beyond tired of hearing it because I've done research on it and I think it's right for me. I'm def one of those people that needs to see results within a couple of days or I'll go stuff my face.

A little background...I'm 19 with a fairly legit metabolism. When I graduated high school (17) I was 135 but after I got married a year later I gained about 10 lbs. A month later I found out I was pregnant and promptly gained 35 more pounds. After I had my beautiful baby girl I lost a good chunk of the weight (after ridiculous swelling, omg couldn't even bend my feet) but I'm still at 150 lbs! I'm 4 months pp, I had a csection so I didn't start walking/exercising again until maybe a month ago. I'm stuck in a rut though. I eat nothing but veggies, beans, fruits, and chicken. Literally, nothing else. Except on cheat days, like today, when my husband convinced me that we HAD to get pizza because we had a coupon for it that was too great to be thrown away (actually he just was like, do you want some pizza? we have that coupon and I was like yeah). In high school I was pretty athletic, exercising everyday for about 2-3 hours/sports year round. So I have that mom pooch going on! The rest of my body I can live with but my lower belly is just mush, it's laughable.

ANYWAY, I am going to attempt a 5 day water/liquid fast because Diet Coke is my end-all-be-all, I could never betray it's love. I'm hopefully going to do an after pic. This is in no way a long term thing! I have not intended to break any rules but if something has please let me know and I will eradicate it. I'm starting on September 1st and ending on the 5th so please nothing negative! Passive aggressive will probably be ok but I would like a "girl just do you", preferably from a sexy Scotsman, but nice ladies will work just as well!

This picture is me at 150

"I'm def one of those people that needs to see results within a couple of days or I'll go stuff my face."

That's a worrisome statement. Not only is it unrealistic but also a little naive and disrespectful to your own body's capabilities. Let's be realistic here. If you can profess life long allegiance to diet coke then surely you can put a little more faith in your body's abilities to lose weight in a healthy way.

A very common misconception with dieters is that you have to give up all the foods you love. Nothing could be further from the truth. You're young, you don't have much weight to lose, and you have a lifetime to enjoy your good health - you have a lot going for you so don't put yourself through some ridiculous fast so you can see fast results. Doing something like that with the intention of immediate results puts you in a precarious position to binge later, and all the weight will come back. It happens so often to so many people. So have your pizza, you don't have to eat the whole pizza, have a couple of slices and pair it with a refreshing salad. Pizza is super healthy, I make my own with fresh ingredients and I don't feel an ounce of guilt eating it.

I know you don't want any "negativity" but when I see a young girl embarking on dangerous behavior with a drastic fad diet that causes long term disordered eating behaviors and is known to cause more weight gain I have to say something. I wish someone has told me when I was trying drastic stuff 20yrs ago. All those diets worked in the short term but thy causes a lot of radical irrational food thoughts and behaviors that led to an estig disorder.

My life would have been so much better and simpler if I had learned to love my beautiful body, exercised for the love of movement, ate in moderation and not berate myself with guilt. Enjoy your baby, be kind to yourself and feel love and gratitude for the body that has recently been through so much (I had a c section too with lots of complications and long term injuries from it).

This isn't negative, this is the most positive, healthy and life affirming advice you're going to get.

I second wannabeskinny's comments. There are ways to get the weight off without setting yourself up for a lifetime of yoyo dieting and possible disordered eating. The post-pizza weight gain will be largely water, not fat. I'm curious what research you've done to decide a 5-day water fast is an effective way to lose weight

Rather than delete this, I'm going to close this. We understand that people may have religious/spiritual reasons for fasts but those aren't for weight loss. On this site, we want to support what we feel are sustainable, long term methods for weight loss and a fast is not it. We do feel that extended fasts can be dangerous and aren't a good method to lose and maintain weight loss.
