It's a dark, wet start to the day here. Another morning when all I feel like doing is curling up with my coffee here on the sofa, but Maggie has a make-up music lesson at 9 that I have to get her to, so I have to leave earlier this morning. Audrey came home from camp yesterday, she had had enough and was homesick, and I think our plan is to go shopping for school supplies this afternoon.
I hope it's dry enough to get to the garden today. I'm sure there must be bushels of tomatoes, peppers and zucchini that need picking, and the kale and chard are getting out of hand! I think a huge pot of vegetable soup is in my future.
It is quite dreary here as well. It rained a bunch on my day off (an excuse for a nap!), and I'm sure it will go on for a while. The fantastic news is, my boss called me with a GREAT offer. I think it is an answer I have been waiting for! (remember me saying I wasn't sure how I could leave the clinic I'm at....) She's got to hammer out details, so the final details will be interesting.
With my excitement and all my errands yesterday, I didn't make something for my lunches. So, I pulled out a bag of chili...although I'm thinking I have everything for confetti salad, good grief that stuff is addicting!
Onward ho, I'm by myself today, so it will surely be a crazy day!
Good morning on very wet Wednesday! It sure rained yesterday - my poor dogs were quite upset and refused to venture out. We solved that problem with newspapers on the front porch which is covered. Not sure what today will bring but we have an extreme rainfall warning. I do feel sorry for folks camping this week.
Another over-booked day today with the building inspector coming and then pet therapy at one - if anyone shows up. I have just organized the paperwork on my desk in priority order as I’m feeling really bogged down. I may just now answer the phone or check my email until I feel I’ve made some headway.
My dogs are playing "It's mine!" with a stuffed rabbit. Jazz never played with toys when he was a pup - probably because Disney was too dignified to play with hum. He and Millie have a ball with toys now though. It's nice to see them wrestling and getting exercise on a day like today.
Drat! Why did I check the weather? Rain predicted right through Saturday. Maybe I can rent my spare rooms to the poor campers at the Park! I don't feel badly for the ones in RVs but well remember tent camping with my kids. "Mum, when's it going to stop?"
Hi Linda. I think I'll do a veggie soup too - with the veggies I have in the house. I'd have to wear hip-waders to get to my garden. Mmckellen, yup, we all have the same deluge on this side of the continent. Not sure who was can blame but ...
Time for another coffee and then I'll tackle pile #1 - the government remittances for July. It's the easiest and the most over due!
Off we go - sloshing through Wet Wednesday.
ETA: Tammy, so glad your move is working out. Spill when you can.
Good morning. I don't know where I was yesterday, but obviously not here!
Jennifer - When I as 36 I felt a lump. DH could feel it; doctor could feel it; mammo tech could feel it. But it didn't show on mammo. She finally could see it with ultrasound only using some special wand (or whatever they call those things.) It was so frustrating to feel it but not be able to see the darn thing. Anyhow, a specialist did recommend surgical removal and it was fine. Hope all goes well.
I'm working for a few hours today. DH and I finally made some more decisions for our trip and are not waiting, waiting, waiting to hear back from people we've contacted. I am so ready to book everything and then just not think about it for a few months! And darn that man for testing a recipe for quinoa brownies. We won't say how many I ate (five). Chocolate. Sigh.
Sorry about all the rain in the east but it is a beautiful day here, no humidity, great run this morning.
Today I have two interviews to conduct and will hopefully find a good candidate to fill with.
Cottage enjoy the day with the girls and hope you get out to the garden
Tywnn glad to hear that your new job might become permanent...
Ruth sorry you are getting so much rain again
Karen I know once I start planning I like to get it all done. I just finished making all the reservations for trip in October- it's for a conference but DH is coming and we will go a few days early to hang out together. It will be the first trip we have been on by ourselves since we had kids.
Hi everyone,
Ok, just finished breakfast. I've got a couple of projects I've got to finish today at work. I took Friday as a personal day because we're going upstate to see my parents. Last night I had a really nice conversation with my cousin out in California who I haven't spoken to in a while. I'm not really close with my extended family, but I do quite like many of them and would like to keep in better touch (I think).
Today a thrift store I love is having a 50% off sale for VIP members (that would be me, because I applied for and got the free card) so I'm going to head over there right when they open and look for jeans for my little guy and some kitchen items I need. Of course I might browse the women's wear section too. I love, love, love this thrift store and their prices are reasonable to begin with, but 50% off? Who can beat that?!
Looks like the rain might abate. I got a really great night's sleep last night (after sleeping terribly at the sleep lab) but I think tonight will be an early night again for me. I have a little bit of cleaning to do when I get home, but otherwise will make time to watch an educational documentary with my son. He's very interested in ancient egypt right now!~ Hope everyone has a great day.
Renewing my commitment to post once a day. Finally got the scale to confess i might weigh a pound less, so will move that into the W column and have a great day.
While it might be rainy here, at least it is cool--a lovely change for NYC in August.
I shouldn't have griped about the rain - we suddenly have blue skies and sunshine! I guess someone was listening and took pity on me. The weatherman tells me it's raining right now - he must live under a rock! On the other hand, perhaps I am hallucinating!
