Hey ladies! Great to meet you! Sounds like all 3 of us have similar stats & goals.
I am a calorie counter...but I'm not eating bread, potatos, or rice, to cut down on the carbs, too. I used to love working out, after I got into the routine of hitting the gym. But, now there is no gym close to me. So hard to find the motivation to workout at home. Moving soon though so hopefully that will change.
I'm mostly trying to work on my portion control as my overall diet is quite healthy I just happen to love food too much so I end up eating a literal ton of it. I'm also keeping track of my calories/exercise using My Fitness Pal and i go to the gym 4-5 times per week though this week I'll only get there twice (you can than Canada Day & cottage weekend for that).
After the weekend, I'm seriously thinking about shifting at least 1-2 of my workouts to the mornings, pre work - which I think will be hard because i'm so not a morning person but I just don't have that much time in the evenings to devote 2 hrs to the whole process of getting to and being at the gym, and then contending with the washing, blow drying, and taming of the non-humidity loving hair that I have!
I wish I could get to the gym like that! I used to get up and run at 5:30am and it made such a difference, compared to the evening. It just made such a good start to my day. I felt better all day. Thinking about that makes me miss working out. The place where I'm currently living isn't very conducive to exercise. I don't live on a good road for walking/running (due to traffic, no side walks, etc.) and I'm not close to a gym. Hopefully I'll be moving soon and I am going to make sure I have gym access!
I have been doing pretty well with my calorie counting. Actually, it is such an odd thing. I haven't been very hungry...I have had to make sure I'm eating enough calories (which I have never had this problem before). But, I hope it hangs on for as long as it will....I fear that my hunger will get out of control!
So for now your goal is 165? I have all kinds of "mini" goals. I would love to be down to 165! I was down to 182 about 2 years ago and was SO proud of myself, felt great, thought I was just the hottest thing ever lol. My BMI says I need to be 145 or under, so I guess that is my "ultimate" goal, but my mini goals are: 199 (out of the 200s), 190 (the weight I was at when I met the man who is now my fiancé), 181 (my low weight from 2 years ago), and then I guess just mini goals of 10 lbs. from there (170, 160, 150). It looks like you've been doing awesome!!!
Hi, am fairly close to that. I'm 39, starting at 217lb and wanting to get down to 150 as well. I'd be more than happy to friend you. We need all the support we can get.
Dakota: Absolutely! I don't think my PMs work yet....my signature doesn't. I think it should kick in this weekend. I haven't been here for a couple days...but I've still been doing pretty well. I've only give in once this week, but still counted it in my calories lol. So how are you doing with everything?
Hi, I'm 33, currently at 209 lbs. Started at 251 lbs in May.
My end goal is about 170 lbs (I'm going for body fat percentage of 18%).
I'm currently on phase 1 of the IP diet.
I'm looking for people with similar goals, too.
I'm a guy. I hope that's ok. If not I totally understand.
Hey pob! So how are you doing so far? Exercise seems to be the toughest part for me right now (which is odd because I used to love working out). Are you exercising along with your diet? I hope your week has been going well
We seem to have very similar goals as well. I am 5'7, my SW was 262, I am now at 251, my GW is 150 by June 2015, but then to continue to 135 (preferably that already by June 2015, but meh). Mini-goals are metric-based, so may make little sense, but the first true mini-goal, is 218 (out of the 100 kilos). Then it'll probably be per 10 kilo (22 pounds), although I see every kilo as a mini-goal on its own!
I am not on a restrictive diet, I am not portion-controlling or calorie-counting though. I am trying it on a whole-food basis and it's been the best plan I've ever been on. Other diets tend to make me too restrictive (as in, restricting my caloric intake too much), so for me, this is the only approach that makes sense.

Thanks! This week has been great so far. I had my weigh-in this morning and I went from 209 lbs to 203 lbs this week. I've been working out pretty hard. I lift for about 45 minutes and then I hop on the elliptical for another 30-45 minutes. The last 2 weeks has been a struggle to find motivation but seeing the results usually is enough to get me through the next week.
I just joined after reading this thread, as it looks like we're in the same boat. I turned 30 in March. 4 years ago my weight was 155, but 2 serious family medical scares and one unhealthy relationship later I ballooned up to 228. I'm taking care of my dad at the moment so I plan on walking, building up to jogging, and karate/boxing. I haven't had any motivation, but I don't feel comfortable any longer.
Do y'all have any advice for consistently counting calories and sticking to healthier chicken/fish recipes?
Starting weight is 220.
I'd like to reach 175 close to the new year.
Ultimate goal is down to 145.
