Hello, I'm new to this thing and just wanted support from people who have been where I'm at. Ill start by saying first off I'm 29, and 427 lbs. My biggest weight was 457 and that was when i was pregnant with my daughter. I lost about 22 pounds after i had her and managed to sit at 432. I started walking 5 days a week and lost about 15pounds and gained it all back due to stress. 9 months had passed and i was ready to get back at it so i decided to walk 7 days a week 30 min a day, for the first month i counted calories but when i saw how easy it wad for me to lose weight and still eat all the horrible foods that got me to this weight as long as i walked daily, i stopped calorie counting and ate what i wanted. I lost 32 pounds in 6 months, i was overjoyed of course life happens and over the course of 5 months gained it all back. Now in serious and ready to work. I try to drink fresh fruit smoothies in the am and in slowly trying to elimate fast food and soda and eat more lean meats and fresh veggies, this is a struggle for me as im battling depression, but i know if i stay focused and take it one day at a time, ill come out victorious.
Hello the new girl! I am also new!;-) Depression is our worst enemy! We all need to be strong and motivated. I am sure you will achieve all your goals here! I have been looking around this forum for 3 days. And i can see that here we can find great support and help! Don't be shy to make friends with me;-)) All together we are the power!;-)
Hello pattience, thanks for taking the time to read my post, and your encouraging words. i did not know that weight loss was 80% diet and 20% exercise. Diet is my problem, it is so easy for me to go eat a whole large pizza and then go walking for about 45 min. When I do start getting right I get bored and start to miss all the fatty foods. This is going to be a challenge for me but with the support on this sight i know it will come, again thank you
Hello gingerjv, nice to meet you. I've also done some browsing on the sight and can see so far most of the members are very supportive which makes weight loss much more attainable. I definitely want be afraid to reach out. Again, nice meeting you
i'm new here as well and thought that i would mention that one major change that i did make in my weight loss routine is that i cut out all soda and i drink TONS of water. it's gotten so that if i don't drink the amount of water that i should, i definitely feel it. as far as my diet goes, i honestly don't deprive myself of anything... i just use moderation. there was a time that i could eat an entire box of swiss cake rolls by myself in one setting. i don't give in to that anymore... if i have something like that, it's a single serving. i find that it helps me not crave things by allowing myself that serving.
Hi! weight loss and maintenance ARE NOT easy - and require changing your view of food, and more important, changing your relationship with food. Ask yourself why you're reaching for something to put in your mouth if you're not hungry or thirsty. Figure out what your body is telling you [are you tired, hungry, nervous, sad, bored - whatever].
Enjoy what you're eating - there's no point in doing this if you're going to view it as suffering or a punishment, and you're more likely to fall off the wagon. People who lose weight and keep it off make changes that they can live with forever.
For Pattience, that means that she's swearing off sweets. For others, it'll mean only one slice of pizza every other week. for me - well, I'm not quite sure I've figured it out even now! But it's higher protein, lower in carbs, and even lower in poor-quality carbs. However, I do get some cookies every once in awhile.
Hi jiffypop, I've came to the realization that I'm an emotional eater, so now what I'm trying to do is find something to do besides eat whenever i feel a certain way. Also I've learned in the past that I've never been able to keep the weight off bc I've did things that i couldn't see myself doing for a lifetime. Like you said it's a lifestyle change and I'm just now figuring that out.
Hi, jmh39 I'm also trying the no soda thing, I haven't had one all week and to be honest I don't miss them at all. I also don't want to deprive myself of anything, i just need to understand that i can't sit down and eat a whole bag of doritos, or a whole bag of cookies. We can do this.
