Talking Hi, there everybody! *waves*

Hi, everyone!

I just joined today, and like most of you, I'm trying to become a healthier version of myself! I have had issues with weight for a long time. There have been times in the past where I have managed to lose 100lbs (two different times), but the weight came back because of life's stresses. Each time I lost all that weight, I did it in a year or less, which isn't exactly the healthy way to go about things either!

This time around, I'm determined to do it the RIGHT way. No more starving myself, eating 500-700calories a day and working out 2-3 hours a day! This time, I'm doing my best to eat at least 1200 calories a day and workout 4-5 times a week.

A few months ago, I started taking Synthroid. My doctor said I had hypothyroidism and that I will have to continue taking that for awhile. I haven't' really seen much of a difference in weight loss. Before starting to take it, I had lost 20lbs in a month. Since taking the pill, I noticed that it was harder to lose the weight, some week's I would even gain! My doctor said that I'd put my body in starvation mode by eating too few calories. And that despite my thyroid levels being normal while on Synthroid, my body was hoarding all I ate because I was eating too little.

It's been a week since I've been trying to eat more and not strain myself by over exercising. I'd like to lose 80-85lbs. Let's see how this goes now, any support, motivation, will be appreciated. We can all do this!

Long term low calorie intake can cause hypothyroidism. I don't think its permanent but its still not a good thing to do. Eating too little does slow down your metabolism.

I don't think the thyroid hormone pill would slow down weightloss or make it harder to lose weight. In fact it should be easier if your thyroid levels are normal. The thyroid governs your metabolism. if you underproduce the thyroid hormones you metabolism will be slower. If you over produce you metabolism will be faster.

You really shouldn't mess with your thyroid. Some people end up having to have them removed and then you will undoubtedly have weight problems.
