Good morning, ladies! Sorry I haven't checked in in a while. Things have been hectic with the 2 jobs and the new relationship.
Things are going well. I have had, not even kidding, a total of 3 days off since March 12th. I was supposed to have this past Saturday and Sunday off and ended up taking an overtime shift at the PD instead.
The new guy is FANTASTIC. He treats me so well and I can't get over how often he tells me how beautiful I am, how glad he is that he met me, etc. I decided that I didn't want to wait until August to see him, so I am flying in to Fort Lauderdale next Thursday and spending 2 days with him. Then I'll fly to Georgia for my nephew's wedding and then back to Boston 2 days later.
I would love to catch up on what's going on in everybody's lives, but I just don't have the time to scroll back through the daily threads. Anything exciting that I need to be caught up on? How's everybody doing?
Great to hear from you, Natasha, and thanks for starting us this morning and getting us caught up with your busy life. It's great to hear how wonderful things are going for you (except for non-stop work). Safe travels and do let us know how your meet up goes!
I'm up early tackling paperwork before work then we head over to the pool for a couple of days. Mom is going as she has a dr apt so it won't be as relaxing as usual since I am always tending to her needs but that's ok.
I was a surprise to see Natasha starting us up today, and it's good to hear from you and what's going on in your life.
Have a great day, Debbie!
I had the handyman at the farm til up the garden for me yesterday, and want to shop for some veggies and get them planted today. It's just a tiny bed, so it won't take very long. Then ferrying the girls around to music lessons this afternoon after school. I'm looking forward to ending the day on the patio with a glass of wine.
Good morning y'all! The sun is shining today, hopefully it will stay that way.
Natasha - good to "see" you!!! Definately let us know how the meet up goes!
Debbie - You're a good daughter. I hope you can enjoy the pool.
Cottage - Can you pick me up some plants? I think it's a hair too early to do it here....I'll wait another week or two.
Today is just a long day at work. I made another batch of that confetti salad yesterday for my lunches . Last night I threw together some asian slaw, it was - eh, okay. Maybe it will taste better after marinating?
Good morning. Wow Natasha life has been hectic!!! Have fun this weekend. Please let us know how it goes. I thought you were going to quit Porsche after your car was fixed? Glad to hear things are going well for you.
Tammy I made crack slaw last week. I threw in chopped cashews and I spiced it up with a little fish sauce and chili paste. Normally I use shrimp, but they suffered from terrible freezer burn. Instead I added ground chicken breast. It was awesome. So easy and tasty!! Hopefully yours will be more to your liking today.
Debbie enjoy pool time with mom. Mine comes on the 22nd for a few days. Can't wait to see her.
Linda I could keep a handyman busy for months here lol. Nice you have some help.
Oh ladies please ask Mother Nature to be kind for our ride. Looks like we will have rain to contend with every day. Last year they canceled one day because of thunder and lightening. Hopefully this year we will be spared, but I doubt it. Guess I better pack some rain gear.
Today is another ride, finish cleaning (I lost my mojo yesterday), dinner with Joe. I am trying to keep up with the laundry as I hate having to contend with it after my trip.
I may give Coconut another bath. His coat is short and you can see his skin tags. Well Mick like to groom him. He licks his face. Now he has taken to liking his back. To the point where Coconut's hair is being licked away and he is making his skin tag raw. Mick has always been a licker, but this is getting quite annoying. I may put Coconut's coat on him just to keep Mick from licking him. I certainly have some strange, but cute pups
Oh well letting me go back to my coffee and stressing about the ride lol. Have a great day!!
Debbie, I envy you the pool time and also the time with your mother. I still miss mine sometimes although she could be "difficult".
And, Cottage, I envy you your handyman. I sure could use one around here. Wanna ship me Jake?
Tammy, everything is better after marinating for a while - even people! I've yet to try the vodka and tonic in a water bottle trick but am getting close.
Ridiculously hectic day yesterday - I'll spare you the details. Luckily one of the many phone calls was from this morning's interviewee who has another job. Just as well as we were able to finalize the hiring and schedule next week's training.
So my morning is free! I am going to saddle up and go to town shortly as I need a few things at Staples and also will definitely go and drool on plants in a garden centre. It's not safe to put out annuals around here until about May 20 but I'll be able to dream! Later today I'll check my raised bed and maybe get it ready for some seeds. No rain predicted until Friday so I might get things going! Rainbow Chard comes to mind.
Jazz is lying in his favourite morning spot - in the doorway onto the back deck where there is always a morning sun puddle. Unfortunately that means I can't **** the door and the back room is pretty chilly. I guess I'll just leave him and go get dressed for town. He just looks way too contented to disturb.
Happy Tuesday to all.
ETA: Jennifer, I didn't realize you had two dogs. Putting a coat on sounds like a good solution to the licking problem.
This afternoon I go back to the derm to get my little basal cell carcinoma removed. This is skin cancer #4 and will be by far the least invasive removal. Easy, peasy. But, still... WEAR SUNSCREEN!
Yesterday I ended up seeing someone about my nagging cough that I thought was allergies. The PA thought it was residual from a sinus infection so I'm on 5 days of prednisone to see if that knocks it out. If not she'll put me on an antibiotic.
My latest cool genealogy discovery: the cousin I connected with on my Dad's side actually has my grandmother's "passport" papers for when she immigrated in 1910! Don't know why/how it ended up in her hands since this was her great-aunt, but I'm glad she kept it. She's going to send me a copy and I'll work on getting it translated.
Class is going well, instructor loaded up on the homework but have almost all of it done, will finish up before class.
Got the deck sanded and now it is ready to be stained, I think I will put as much down as I can prior to class today.
Natasha glad to see you
Debbie my mom is coming for a couple of days this weekend as DS is graduating from college on Saturday. Can't wait to see her and the rest of the family that is coming.
Cottage enjoy your day
to everyone else need to run DD2 to school she has her field trip today.
Good evening, everyone! I'm still stunned by how many of you get up at what, to me, is dawn.
I plan (am determined to) restart this Sunday. This is the last week of classes at school and there are three luncheons scheduled, so I thought I'd wait unitl that's over. Starting this weekend, I will have many weeks where I'll be able to cook and eat at home -- one of the issues I've had in the past.
I'm in much better health this year than last -- not nearly as much stress, as I quit one of my two jobs; I'm just teaching now, no longer in administration as well. This time last year I was diagnosed with a vitamin B12 deficiency. I didn't expect it to take this long to get back in balance, but I've only felt truly well for the past few weeks. So I hope and expect to see you often.
Evening ladies. Took a moment earlier today to skim through the news (Good to see you again, Natasha!!) but didn't have time to post. On work days, I seem to hit the ground running when the alarm goes off and rarely sit until late afternoon.
Finally getting some sun here as well, although now the whiny child in me wants it to warm up as well!!
Cottage, we are still at risk of a frost, so no planting, but I am hoping to get the soil ready this weekend. DH also has plans to plant a few baby trees. Jennifer, hope you had a productive day and that you get nice weather this weekend. Ruth, hope you got your workers all set now. Xan, welcome back and we are with you as you jump back in.
I'm exhausted but after four years of work our bill finally got out of the legislature. I would be happy to stay away from legislative politics for a very long time. Now on to the next phase of the campaign, but first we are painting our house.
