As the title says, I'm 60-Something (actually, I'm 63) and I don't mind being 63, but I wanna be a sensational 63. I'm retired, and now, IT'S TIME FOR ME! Why is it that we, as women, seem to put everyone and everything before us? We're all guilty of it and now that I'm retired, I have declared this to be MY TIME! Yes, with the capital letters and exclamation point.
My weight is 45 lbs. over what my doctors want me to weigh. By doctors, I refer to my cardiologist (high triglycerides, high cholesterol, high blood pressure) and my GP who manages, or tries to manage my lazy thyroid and arthritis. Geez, I just realized I'm falling apart!
While at the market yesterday, I couldn't help but notice the sheer number of women my age (or younger) who are overweight, and as I drove home, it hit me....I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired and what's making me sick and tired is my weight. Mentally, I'm still the woman who fought for equal rights and equal pay back in the sixties, marched for Roe v Wade, and fought for employment in a male dominated profession. But physically, my health is something I've ignored for too long and I decided yesterday, "Enough."
My new lifestyle started bright and early today (4/09/2014) and I'm hoping to find the support, information, and camaraderie at "3 Fat Chicks" to help me become the "Sensational Sixty Something" I want to be.
And I'll be here to help any and all to be the Sensational Somethings that you want to be.
