Hello everyone from the mountains of North Carolina. I've been lurking on this site for awhile and finally decided to come out.
I started on a wieght loss program in the 3rd week of January. I've always been a big person (huge is probably a more accurate term). I never considered myself fat or unfit, I was just a huge person. However, I began to notice myself breathing heavy after whait I normally consider moderate physical activity. I began having lower back spasm. My already not so good knees were aching more frequently and not just when there was an impending storm.
The straw that broke the camel's back is when I stepped on a scale and it read 383.6! Yikes! At 6'8" I always carried my weight fairly well, but suddenly none of my pants or jeans fit, and I mean none. I really wasn't eating anymore but, I did quit smoking about 13 months earlier and have became a lot less active.
So my weight loss adventure began. 7 weeks in I've lost about 40 lbs. I hope to get to a weight where a BMI chart says I'm normal weight and not obese (I think that happens at 239. A weight I haven't been at since I was a Freshman in High School).
I'm also going to try to do the 100 lbs in 6 months thingy.
I really enjoy reading the forums and gain inspiration and lots of good advice from Y'all.
Welcome, I'm new here too so just getting around and reading all the basics. I'll look forward to your updates as well. i start on the Quick Weight Loss Center diet on Tuesday, so looking for non-familial support would be terrific.
