Talking I've been here for about a month, but...

Hi everyone! I'm Margot, I'm 16 years old and I live in SoCal.
I've been overweight since I was about 8 years old. I was raised by a single dad who I don't think ever really got out of his bachelor diet. He fed me canned food and frozen food all my life and is unfortunately morbidly obese himself.
I've been trying to get him to work with me and go on a diet himself but my dad seems to enjoy eating all my special low calorie food for himself.

In the past I have had serious body image problems and struggled with eating disorders, but I've gotten better to the point that I feel like I can diet safely and without worry.

I am calorie counting with the Lose It! iPhone app and have been doing it for about a month. Balancing my diet with school has been a lot easier than I thought it would be, especially considering I'm one of those crazy kids that takes ridiculously hard classes and is upset with anything less than an A.

Hi everyone!

Hi Margot! I was one of those crazy over-achievers, too (still am to a certain degree) and struggled with my weight all my life. I actually did best in law school, when I was cooking all my meals for myself and had time to get in some really good exercise. You can do it!

Your poor dad probably has no idea how to feed you properly. But it is interesting that he's eating your food. Why do you think that is? What is your special low cal food. Can't be lettuce can it?

Do you get on well with your dad or do you fight over the food thing? If its a problem him eating your food, you could just do the shopping and not buy his sort of stuff - make it all low cal, or put a lock on your food that's not in the fridge. Or get him to give you some money to buy a fridge for yourself perhaps.

Good luck with your schooling and your diet.
