Hi Tracy!

I feel your frustration and I'm glad you've joined the forum here. You'll find lots of support from understanding people! First off, the doctors say you'll only gain 5-8 lbs but everyone is not alike. It might cause a bigger weight gain in some people, so please don't beat yourself up about that. But you don't have to exercise to lose weight. It helps, of course, but exercise is for fitness. Diet is the key to weight loss. As for the alcohol, it looks like you already know you shouldn't be self-medicating with that and that it's contributing to your weight gain, so put it down. And I too have a meat and potatoes husband. It can be hard having those kinds of foods in the house, but just because they are there doesn't mean you have to eat them or overeat them. The bottom line is that you having a serious breathing condition and the extra weight is making it harder to breathe, so it's time to do something about that. You've taken a first great step in coming here! I'm proud of you! I know what you are going through is frustrating, but you can help yourself and you CAN lose weight. So browse around, get involved, get motivated, because it's time to do this thing and you can do it! Good luck!
