I hope Carla is cool and relaxed on her vacation. It's a bit steamy here - yuck on the weather.
I had a so-so week. I didn't get to my meeting because we left for CT early. We had a great weekend with my cousin and her husband and the two of us did well together point wise (supporting each other) on Saturday for lunch and dinner and Sunday morning. We did a ton of walking around on Saturday at all the nursuries and lots of plant schlepping too. On Sunday morning we all (including Tony!) went on an hour long walk on a lovely trail that's near their house. I didn't do quite as well snack wise last night but I did get TOM so the cravings should be gone. I'm firmly back on track today. My cousin and her husband are going to come down to us on Friday morning (bringing down some of the plants we couldn't fit in the car) and will stay over until Saturday - good news program-wise - we're already planning a point-friendly bar-b-que including Angie's wonderful potato salad.
I hope to get some kind of exercise in today. I'm pretty crampy but I want to do something - I'm going to try to do a weight workout at lunch and if we don't get thunderstorms, walk in the pool after work.
Judy - No meeting for me this week either, though not of my doing. Tomorrow is Canada Day, a holiday, so my meeting is cancelled. I don't feel like sussing out another meeting elsewhere, so for I'll just have to wait till next week. Your weekend sounds lovely, I love shopping for plants. It's getting to be the time of year where you can get some great deals on things too. Hopefully the cravings will be gone by later and you'll do fine for the rest of the week.
My weekend was pretty good. I succumbed to a bottle of wine on Saturday night, but I was able to take care of that with banked points. Yesterday we were out and about, had lunch at my parents and then didn't get home till quite late. I missed journalling yesterday for the first time. I can't even remember what I ate for breakfast yesterday, so I'll just let it go. I did okay through the day though. Nothing much on the agenda today...don't feel like being at work, but I'm off again tomorrow, so I just have to hang in there for another five hours!
Nothing much to report today...sneak peak looked good this morning.
Went grocery shopping last night so we're well stocked up on point friendly foods. We're off to the racetrack (thoroughbreds) for a little fun this afternoon. Eating very light this morning because I'm going to have a "paddock burger" which is a greasy cheeseburger smothered in fried onions - in other words, a WW nightmare!
Karen - Happy Canada Day!!! Way to go on having enough banked points to take care of that wine. Your "Day at the Races" sounds like a ton of fun. Yes, the paddock burger sounds like a QQ nightmare but very, very yummy. Way to go on planning your day so you can work it in!
I had a so-so day yesterday. The good news is that I got a good hour long strength workout in even though I was very crampy. The bad news was that I was very snacky last night - even dipped into the deficit area by a point. I plan on making up for that today. My goal is to bank a few points this week for the 3 day holiday weekend. I'm not worried about the bab-b-que per se on Friday since I am making lots of point friendly things - I need some points for a couple of beers! Ditto on Sunday - we're seeing the friends who introduced us and that means there will be plenty of alchohol. Thankfully we have no plans for Saturday (except breakfast with my cousin and her husband who are staying over on Friday). We were thinking of going to my sil's to see her new granddaughter but it turns out it's too soon for anyone to want any visiting - which is fine with me. I hope to use the rest of the day to change my closets - it took so long for it to get warm this year that I still have my winter stuff "out"!
I need to take a lesson from both you. I can tell you are journalling ( I haven't in months) and are really on top of things. Hence, why you are losing and I am not.
I haven't been on the scale all week, I 'm nervous to see what happens tomorrow. I told myself this morning that things have to change and that it is all up to me. So on that note I did my Pilates for Dummies tape. I am getting a little better at it but I just can't do some of the moves. I also am cooking up a couple of chicken breasts, so I can have one in a salad for my lunch today.
Karen enjoy Canada Day and Judy I 'll wish you a happy 4th later.
Anne - I spent about 2 years playing around with doing the program and what I got was about 2 years of maintaining my weight where it's been. Although the last couple of days I have slipped back a little into my old ways, that stops today. Yes, I have been journalling and I have been honest with myself about what I eat and especially how much I eat. It's been working and while I have had a rough couple of days, I'm determined to get back to my "losing ways" this week. Whatever the scale says, just remember, the only way we won't get what we want is if we stop trying. Take the number, whatever it is, and get back OP. Way to go for doing the Pilates tape. There are definitely Pilates moves (and yoga moves) that I can't do but if you stick with it, it will come - and remember, it's not a competition.
Enjoy your lunch - the chicken breast in the salad sounds great - Judy
Sure is quiet around here. I have had a very rough couple of days. I was OK until the evening and then I've snacked over my max points. I did get in a good spinning workout yesterday but I'm sure it didn;t make up for what I snacked! I guess I know the reasons - two nights ago Tony and I had a big fight - last night, he had a business dinner and while I had a nice relaxing evening, I also had hand-to-mouth disease. So, right now my sneak peek is up (no big surprise) and I'm going to try to pull out a maintain for Saturday. I plan on sticking to the program to the tee today (should be OK) and tomorrow (a little tougher with company). I'm planning on doing an hour long strength workout at lunch and maybe try to get in a little yoga after work.
Judy, I'm sorry you've been having such a rough go of it the last couple of days. {{{{{hugs}}}}} to get you through the rough spots. Hope you're able to pull off your maintain. Emotional eating is the pits!
Anne, I totally agree with Judy. I spent a couple of years "semi OP" and while I'm sure it kept me from gaining, I didn't lose anything either. So I'm back to basics as much as possible, and getting the results I should.
I've had a couple of less than stellar days too. My trip to the track included the famous paddock burger, but unfortunately it also included a double scoop Bryer's ice cream cone, and a slice (big) of pepperoni pizza. Yesterday I was totally on track until one of the nursing floors called and asked me to come up, I went up to see what was going on, and they had a big potluck lunch set up with all kinds of wonderful ethnic dishes. I had just a little of things to be polite (of course they all had to watch the manager to make sure she wasn't playing favorites!). Anyway, it was very tasty. Unfortunately I'd already just eaten a sandwich at a meeting.
Today the challenge is an evening workshop. I'm going straight from work, but I've decided to stop and pick up some sushi for dinner. Low point and filling. I just have to expect to see a soy sauce induced water gain for a day or two. I intend to ignore all the nibbly goodies at the workshop, unless they have a veggie tray.
Have a happy and relaxing Fourth of July tomorrow!
Thank you both for the encouragement. I can see (since I 've been doing it for the last 6 months) that WW will help you keep your maintain, but you actually have to work on it to lose weight.
With Mike working on the garge all day, he hasn't had time to do his cooking (he has been doing Atkins since March) I have been trying to help him out. Since I am cooking his meat, I've been trying to throw in a few extra pieces for me. By doing this I have had some very tasty, and low point salads for lunch. The nice thing is they seem to keep me full until dinner. Hopefully this will be able to continue. I took one of your's advice and tried the sugar free jello. Not too bad, it was nice to have that cool taste in the warm evenings. Mike likes it with Reddi Whip, but I think I like it just plain.
I hope both of you do well these next few days. Snacking is my down fall
