Default How Is It Working For You?

Hi Guys--I am old to the board, but new to this section. I have been seeing so much about SB on the board that I picked up the book in the "big city" when I was running errands. Coincidentally I picked up the Woman's World magazine--SB was the featured diet article. Very interesting read. I have started the book and am about 3/4 of the way through it. My questions are: how hard are the first 2 weeks to get through? I tried Fat Flush last year and the first 2 weeks were too much for me. Also, how many have had success and weight loss with it here? A big part of me would like to get going on it, but I was wondering how you all were doing on it. Thanks in advance for any input!!!

HI,

I'm on day 5. I will admit that I am not one of the people who have no hunger at all. I've been hungry and I've had headaches until today. For me, breakfast has been the hardest. I really wnat my cereal and fruit back; otherwise I'm just fine with lunch and dinner meals. But, I will wait another week and I'm not going to cheat myself. Today I felt great.

I've been drinking lots of water and eating lots of veggies. But...I've been doing this within the WW points range and perhaps by doing that, I am not eating until satisified. It may be that I'm not getting enough in at snack time because I'm full after I eat our meals.

I've lost 4 pounds so far and best of all, this has made a huge difference in DH's blood sugar (he's diabetic). We are realizing that this is a lifelong meal plan that we are just going to have to follow to keep him off insulin. I'd love for him to be able to get off 40 pounds and meds completely. But this is a start.

Good luck!

WTG Terri!!!
May I suggest you eat a little more especailly during phase 1. I too, left WW for this way of eating. I found that a breakfast of eggs (mostly whites) and veggies (red peppers, mushrooms, etc...) really starts my day off in the right direction.

AdoAnnie...
I am just finishing up my 7th week with about a 9 pound weight loss. But you can't go by me. I am Hypothyroid (on meds), 50 and like lots of others have messed up my metabolism by constantly dieting. My body didn't know what the heck I was doing. I finally think I have the solution. I feel really good and I can do this!!! I don't care how long it takes and I am convinced it will work!! It has too, I am eating right!!!!

IMO, the first two days were my hardest and not very. From what I have read, the difficulty lies in how you ate prior to this. If you were a big sweet, caffeine and bad carb person, you probably will have some withdrawals. This is the detoxing phase so anything can happen.

You have nothing to lose, you already have the book, so I would say join us...the "water" is GREAT!!!!

Have a great weekend!

Meg

Hi there,

I'm on Day 6 and am finding it easier. The hadest days were 3 amd 4 as I had early morning headaches each day - but I guess that's part of the detox/decarb thang. I'm not weighing yet (gritting of teeth) but I feel lighter and I seem to have lost a bit in the midriff - which I really need to do!

I just got the book and am in the process of reading it. I've also been continuing to count WW points and that seems to be ok so far. Guess I'm holding on to the WW counting as a bit of a security blanket as I set forth into the big world of controled carb eating.

I miss berries, red wine and bread but I totally feel I can do this! I really have a lot of energy and feel happy - probably b/c I'm treating myself right and not cheating, for a change.

Good luck and come join the chicks on the beach!

Blessings + cheers,
ANNA

Thanks you guys--I'm hoping to finish up the book this weekend and make sure that I know what I'm doing. I also started Body Flex this last week and am waiting to see if I lose the inches with it that they say you will. Maybe a combination of the two would actually put me in a swimsuit on the "beach".

So far, this is the easiest diet that I've tried , that I can stick with. I do not feel deprived at all, and I love the food choices. I don't have any horrible cravings, which I usually do in the first few weeks of a new WOE.

Even though the book says that you can lose 8-13 pounds in a few weeks, don't get discouraged if that does not apply to you. All of our metabolisms are different and of course, we all make different food choices ( and amounts). My weight did not come on over night, so I can't get discouraged if I don't have the dramatic results that some people do.

I started with 15 pounds that I wanted to lose (140/125) and after 3 weeks on the SB I have lost 8 pounds. I lost 5# the first week, 2# the 2nd week and 1# the 3rd week. Even though the pounds are slowing down, I'm still losing and not gaining. So, to me, this diet is worth maintaining.

Red face

Well, Annie, it is July 10 today, so I assume you are on The Beach with the rest of us. For me, it was very, very easy. SBD is basically how I ate before I found sweets and became somewhat of a couch potato. I am in my fifth week, Phase III, but am still only slowly adding back the things I missed so much, like fruit mostly. I lost 13 lbs in Phase I. Goal was 15/20. Right now I'm at goal. Have no complaints. Hope it's going as well for you.
