Post The Motivation Thread

Why do you want to lose weight?

*To be healthy and live a long life.
*To be physcially fit and be able to partake in activities that I enjoy without discomfort.
*To have a healthy pregnancy when the time comes.
*To look better.
*To save money that I would normally spend on clothes from "specialty" stores.
*To regain some self confidence.
*To tie my shoes without passing out.
*To paint my toe nails without turning blue.
*To wear shorts when it's hot out and not worry that they will ride up with every step I take.

Those are just a few of my reason (things I repeat to myself all the time to keep me motivated). I'm hoping to hear what motivates other's and maybe I can draw inspiration!

I want to lose weight so I can feel confident in front of others again

So I can wear some decent (fashionable) clothes again

So I am healthy and don't get anything nasty like diabetes or heart disease

Red face My motivations....

*to not become a Type-2 Diabetic like my mom has

*to ENJOY shopping again! (I love clothes)

*to comfortably wear a size 12 again (what a thrill that will be!)

*to be at a healthy weight to get pregnant, when that time comes along

*to be an active mom someday!

*to stop missing out on all the stuff in life I won't do, because I don't feel confident enough

*to wear feminine skirts & dresses again, and feel beautiful in them!

You get the picture, I could go on & on....there are SO MANY reasons to do this!

People have mentioned some great reasons. The diabetes one is a big reason to want to lose weight.

Also, feeling confident about yourself is another big one. I know a lot of people say that you should feel confident no matter what you look like, but I know from personal experience that no matter how upbeat I tried to be at 216 1bs. inside I was feeling like crap. I only realized the fact about 4 years ago that I shouldn't have cared what people thought and that I was the same person that I was back then that I was now. It could be because I did lose weight and during that course of time I felt like I had accomplished something really big and that I could do anything. I believe that was the reason for my self confidence and not the actual weight loss itself. Hope you girls realize this as well and you can start gaining that self confidence real soon!

This is great to see....

I got scared when my jeans started not to fit because I didn't feel as though I was gaining at such a rapid pace! I have gained 20pounds at every stage of my life, starting college, graduating college, and marriage, My top weight 185lbs.... I couldn't believe it. I just wanted to get it the weight under control before it's too late.

I have stomach problems, always nautious or stomach pains but nothing is wrong with me... Starting Atkins everything has cleared up.

I want to be a healthy weight when we decide to have kids!!

And Finally for to get my self confidence back!!!!

-To not feel so glum when pictures are developed
- To fit in some of my old clothes that make me look faboulous, and feel even more so
- So I can shop at vintage clothes shops and not have to resort to just jewelry and accesories
- To be healthy enough to compete in some of the charity bike rides I've been dying to do, but too afraid of dying during to try
- To keep up with my son, and to show him a healthy way of life
- To not feel guilty when I think of how little effort I've been giving something that bothers me so much

This is a good question. Most people never take the time to sit down and think it through before starting their weightloss journey. Knowing what your reasons are for losing weight isn't just going to cut it. Once you know your reasons, write them down or print them out. Make multiple copies and post them everywhere. In the bathroom, kitchen, in your car, at work, etc. This way you will be constantly reminded as to why you're committing to a healthy lifestyle.

My reasons are as follows:
1. I want to feel good about myself inside and out. Love what I see physically in the mirror. (I'm a muscle fanatic :-) )

2. I'm as healthy as an ox right now and I want to keep it that way. Diabetes and hypertension is prevalent in my immediate family.

3. I want to become a fitness spokes woman. I'm in the process of launching a site centered around a healthy approach to fitness. It's time that we rise up against the media conglomerates and let them know that we want to see some women that represents us. HEALTHY CONSCIOUS WOMEN!! Layla Ali, Drew Barrymore, Beyonce Knowles, Selma Hayek, Lisa Lowe, Monica Grant-- (spellings?)

4. I want to be able to walk in a store and not worry about what size the clothes are. I refuse to step foot in Lane Bryant. Although I'm still over 200. The Lord has blessed me proportionally. I wear a size large top with no problem from Gap, Old Navy, Lerner and any other boutique. I wear a size 18 pants, size 16 dress, size 14 skirt. My goal is a size 9/10 in ALL clothing types!!! :-)

5. My man is coming back from the war in October, so you know what's up!!!! I want to be looking mighty, mighty, fly!!! (This adds an extra push to my workout). I must say that he loves every single curve on my body. He is truly a sweatheart.

I just have to say, I was SO encouraged to re-read this thread! I saw the reasons I posted almost 2 months ago, and it thrills me to know that I'm well on my way to meeting those goals! I love being able to go back and look over things, to see where I've come from, and where I'm going!

Thanks for resurrecting this thread!!

Smile motives and motivation

Hey ladies! I was lurking around some of the other forums just to see what was out there and I ran across one that really hit home. The question was.... what are your reasons for wanting to lose weight. The answers where great they made me laugh and even a few made me want to cry. So, it made me think and question my motives.

1. I want to avoid diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and ucky veins in my legs- all which run in my family.

2. I want more energy.

3. I want to feel comfort in my own skin again....clothed and naked.

4. I am tired of wearing 2 sports bras, mens boxers, and large t-shirts to workout in.

5. I want to be able to wrap a normal size towel around my body when I get out of the shower.

6. I want to look in the mirror and say "Damn girl you look hot!"

7. I want to to be able to finally order all of the cute J Crew clothes I have been circling everytime I get the damn catalog.

These are just a few of my motivations Have an awesome day!

Thanks for this thread.... I wrote a list of 100 Reasons to Lose Weight back in 1998 when I started my webpage and started trying to lose. I hadn't looked at that list in a while until today but as I read over my list I realized that some of my reasons (wishes) have already come true!!

Now that is a great feeling!
