Smile Hi from a new member

I probably should have posted this before my previous post, oops! Sorry.

I'm Deanna. I am about to start my first year of medical school, exciting times!

Basically though, following medication for depression and anxiety, which I am still taking, I have gained 17+lbs, which unfortunately I am struggling to lose.
I have always had bad body confidence, although before medication weight gain I weighed 139. I was sort of happy with this, compared to now anyway!
I now weigh 157 approx.

I am 5 foot 9 inches tall, so my BMI is still just healthy, but it is getting too high for my liking. Likewise, my clothes are tighter and I am ballooning outwards in size. I have put on 2 inches plus round my waist etc..

So basically I am just looking for support and advice regarding weight loss.

Hi Lea591, congratulations on starting medical school.
It is difficult dealing with weight gain as a common side effect from medication. This site seems to have tons of different diet/healthy living information on it. Sometimes it is making a few small changes to what you eat and adding exercise.

I hope you find what works for you. Good luck with school.

Hi Deanna! Congrats on starting med school! You will find lots of support to help you with your weight here. 5'9" does allow you to carry the 150's but I know how you feel. I'm 5'8" and used to weigh 135 and with depression meds, I gained 50 lbs in 6 months and it just ballooned from there. So I am all for your getting control of your weight now, before you reach the overweight category. I'm sure you'll find lots of tips and advice here to help you. It will take willpower and determination, but you can do it! As you browse around, be sure to check out the Depression and Weight Issues forum. Good luck!
