I think water intake varies from person to person. I have had kidney stones and my dr wants me to drink at least a gallon a day. I dont always get it But i do try!

I never have worried about my water intake. There's really no evidence we need to drink all the water we are told to. All fluids help keep us hydrated, so I just drink when I'm thirsty and try not to "drink" my calories. So I think it's really about personal preference, and whether you like drinking water... or if it helps you feel full...

Depends on your age as well as your weight
Here is the formula
I am actually drinking more than it says below and currently drinking about 140floz per day

Water

(fl oz / pound of body weight)
Young adult:16 — 30 years 0.54 — 0.6 fl oz / lb
Adult: 31 — 54 years 0.46 — 0.54 fl oz / lb
Adult: 55 — 65 years 0.46 fl oz / lb
Adult:> 65 years 0.38 fl oz / lb

I'd just like to point out that while there might be a formula I can find no research evidence to back up how much water we need. In fact, the research I've read suggests that there never has been any scientific evaluation of how much we need to drink. I think someone just made up numbers. But if you know more than I do on the topic, please let me know.

I think hydration depends a lot how much you are losing moisture. If you are working out or really hot and sweating then obviously you need to replenish.

Below are just a few studies on water intake volume for weight loss. There are hundreds more.

Thanks! I'll see if I can access those. Harder now that I'm no longer affiliated with a university.
