I've been fat my whole life, but ironically I'm also really good at losing weight. It 2007, when I was 15, I lost 30 pounds over summer vacation. Came all right back. In June 2011 after a bad breakup and a downward spiral, my mom forced me to join WW. I lost 54 pounds in five months - from 256 to 202.
The thing that really makes me just want to kick myself is that I've been wanting a breast reduction since I was 14. When I was 202 lbs. and called the doctor, I was told I was TWO POUNDS AWAY from being the correct BMI to have it covered by health care.
Between December 2011 and May 2013, I gained 64.6 pounds back. I quit and joined WW four times between then. Ironically, there was no "bad trigger" there. In December 2011 I met my current boyfriend. I was lighter than I've been in years and even though I'm only 5'5, I looked pretty good at 202 pounds. I can't believe I let myself go back.
And now I'm the heaviest I've ever been in my life. I'm attaching a picture that's fairly recent. It's mortifying. I'll also post a pic of me at 202 lbs below.
I NEED to lose weight. I'm 21 and these are supposed to be the best years of my life. I'm suffering depression. My unhappiness with my weight is affecting my relationships.
I went to a TOPS meeting tonight as recommended by my therapist and wanted to cry. It was all elderly people. I can't afford to join WW right now. I really need support and motivation.
This is my first time on 3FC. I have 115-135 pounds to lose and the journey starts here.
You are so pretty in your picture, I can't wait to see your updated picture once you are done losing whatever weight you want to. And we are going to be here every step of the way with you. And what's even better, 3FC is free (and priceless!). 3FC has changed my life and it can change yours too.
Do you have a new eating plan? Plans for exercise? One step at a time in making small changes can lead to great changes.
Good luck, you can do this!

Thank you! I have a new bike and I'm following the WW plan even though I can't afford the meetings. The problem is I'm exhausted and busy - 3 jobs and I'm a fulltime student. But I'm done with excuses. To start with, my plan is 30 mins of excercise 3 times a week and eating to WW specifications. I'm doing the Couch to 5k app.
Hey girl! Firstly, you're a friggin' babe...so don't get down on yourself! You sound like you have some serious resolve, that is awesome! You got this. WELCOME to 3FC, stick around and lose with us!
I have not had my picture taken in about 7 years. I understand feeling mortified by how you look when you do not realize what you have gained.
First: It will be ok.
Second: One day at a time.
Third: Choose one goal...ONE...and stay with that. Do not overwhelm yourself...IT IS A TRAP.
Stay on your food goals...for whatever amount of time you feel is right...THEN add a second goal.
Be calm, be happy. Remember...at the end of our lives...whenever that may be..we never wish we had worked more, made more money...or lost more weight. Keeping these things in mind can help you feel lighter of heart...
Check back often...talk when you need to. It all helps.
Welcome! I totally understand how you are feeling.
Have you considered trying OA meetings? (Overeaters Anonymous)? They are free (well, they ask you contribute 2 dollars a meeting.) And it might help you work out any issues they may be causing you to gain the weight back after you lose it.
Either way, join in a few threads here and you will find a lot of support!
You are a beautiful girl and it breaks my heart that someone so young has already been on the roller coaster of weight loss/gain for so long. I am 54 but have lost and gained probably 300# in my lifetime. I can lose it when I make up my mind...it's keeping it off that's the problem. I think we need to be thinking about coping skills for keeping it off WHILE we are losing this time. We can't think of this as something temporary, the weight will reappear if we try to "eat normal" again. Alcoholics can't ever drink alcohol and carboholics shouldn't eat carbs! (or at least only the carbs from veggies). Go to the Atkins site and get all the information you need to follow a low carb lifestyle. Read the books "Why we get fat and what to do about it" by Gary Taubes, and "wheat belly" by Dr. Smith. They make perfect sense as to why people are so much heavier now than they were even 50 years ago. Good luck! You can do it and you know it because you've done it before. You know what to do, because you've done it before. For me the carb cravings will kill any good intentions I have so I have to do low-carb approach. When you reach goal stick around so we can "strategize" how to keep it off.
Hey! I can totally relate to you. We have a very similar situation. Sometimes when we are happy we lose sight of what we are doing, well at least that is how I see it and what happened to me. Regardless you are beautiful. I am so happy that you are in a realtionship that makes you happy, not only can you come hear for support you get the support of your love and that will motivate you even more. You can do it you have a ton of people on here will and ready to support you. If you have a facebook let me know or if you have Kik messenger let me know I will help support you and motivate you. Good luck!
Molly, think of it this way. You are 21 and realize that you need to do something. Many of us only realized this much later in life. Personally, I only started doing something about my weight when I was 43 -- more than twice your age. Like you, I tried losing weight before -- and did. But it always came back because I never really changed my lifestyle. It was always just a "diet" ... a temporary thing. Never a permanent change. Now I realize that was a mistake. You can learn a lot from the mistakes that us old-folks made! If you want to do it, you will!
