Default Here’s A Gorgeous Model Talking About Why Being Pretty Is Stupid

Pretty interesting video, worth a watch. It interesting seeing someone who has won the "genetic lottery" be so honest and self reflective.

Interesting....thanks for posting. However, I feel like fitting the image of what our society finds attractive has more advantages than disadvantages.

I suppose the grass is always greener, I do have one friend who is excruciatingly beautiful and it honestly doesn't look like much fun. It gets her in a lot of trouble (girls at clubs always think she is making eyes at their guys but she isn't and guys are pretty disrespectful towards her too.)

Overall I think the pretty, slim girls have it best. They are not threateningly beautiful yet still have the good looks for all the advantages it gives them.

I love Ted Talks

Like the model said - we all have our own in securities. I would much rather look like her than me. Which is my insecurity.

She seemed so nervous at first!
Really great speech. Thanks for sharing.

I especially liked the part where she showed the pictures side by side of her that day and in the catalog. Very drastic between the two!

Didn't watch the video.

Beauty is skin deep. No kiding?

On the other hand try convicing a 5'0" adult male that being 6 feet tall is stupid.

I think every thing in life has it's goods and bads. I can't believe there is one person who is perfectly happy with their lot in life. The parts that they are extremely unhappy with, they think would be better on the other side. The other side still has disadvantages.

I had to shut it off halfway through. She may have her struggles in life but being that beautiful all through her life means she was always 3 steps ahead of an ordinary person no matter what, whether it was a job interview as an adult or being picked for kickball as a child.

It's true that we never know what someone has gone through unless we have walked in their shoes but do you really think she cares about our struggles?

I may have missed the point of her telling us her woes as a model since I couldn't take another minute of her!

I work with a girl who is 17 years old and very good looking. Tons of guys who come in to our store flirt with her, even those that know she is underage. Two of the guys at work are obsessed with her as well (one of which is in his 50s), and are always talking about her behind her back. She's blonde and beautiful so people assume that she's not very bright and just eye candy. The sad thing is she's very intelligent and mature for her age, she's going to go places. She never once complains about the things people do or say to her, but I know it gets her down. Being good looking may open a few doors for you, but it also influences how people think about you, and often in negative ways. The grass isn't always greener, and sometimes being average is a GOOD thing.

Eh, we're all going to get old and wrinkly someday.

I'd rather have spent it accomplishing things and loving myself instead of lamenting the hand I was dealt.
