First some background....
I have had 2 Knee surgeries both in the late 70's (1st to repair torn ligements - gymnastic related, 2nd for torn cartledge removal)....and had some hip repair done in Aug 2011 (cartledge repair and the head of the femur didnt fit the hip socket so it was re-shaped - orthoscopically/laser stuff...no big scars and cutting like the knee in the 70's).
Here is what is really wierd. When they were figureing out what was wrong with the hip (almost 2 years in and out of PT and finally to a specialist) they did x-rays everywhere and it turns out I have some minor arthritis and bone spurs in the knee...which nothing has been done for.
So for all you fitnees/exercise buffs I have a question. When I do time on the treadmill and the speed increases to where I can no longer walk (4.6 MPH) and I have to do a jog....I have a lot of pain in both the hip and the knee. BUT if I bump up the speed to 6 MPH and RUN....virtually pain free.
I seem to walk at a fairly quick pace...3MPH or a little more... naturally and can walk up to 4.4 MPH on the treadmill programs. no pain...but on the flip side from the jogging running thing if I walk to slow...say the cool down and it drops below 2 MPH I get sharp shooting pain in the hip, not so much the knee.
Why would I be having pain at a jog and slow walk, but not at a fast walk and a run? Any Ideas? I am probably going to have my Doc send me back to the surgeon guy for some follow up but it just seems really odd I can run but not jog.
